Onam Kit Distribution

Under the auspice of the Social Service Committee, YMCA Ernakulam distributed onam kits containing rice, sugar, parippu, coconut oil, puttupodi & sambarpodi to 500 poor families, on 2nd September 2017. Shri, Raju Hormis, CSR Head, Federal Bank Ltd., was the Chief Guest. Adv. Paul Abraham Vakkanal Chairman, Social Service Committee welcomed the gathering. Adv. Thomas Abraham, President, YMCA Ernakulam presided over the meeting. Adv. Kurian George Tharakan, Hon. Treasurer, YMCA Ernakulam spoke on the occasion. Ernakulam YMCA Board of Directors distributed Onam kits. Mr. N.V. Eldo, General Secretary proposed the vote of thanks. The major portion of the expenses was met through sponsorship.

Condolence Meeting

YMCA Ernakulam organized a condolence meeting to pay homage to Mr. M.K. Koshy, who expired on 31st August 2017. The meeting was held on 16th September 2017. Mr. M.K. Koshy was the President of the Ernakulam YMCA during the year1989-1991. Adv. Thomas Abraham, President, YMCA Ernakulam welcomed the guests and presided over the meeting. M/s. Cherian Varkey, Dr. K. YMCA-MUTHOOT Finance Residential Camp For Change Agents –

“BEST – 2017” Under the auspice of Boys Division and Student Work Committee,

YMCA-MUTHOOT FINANCE RESIDENTIAL CAMP FOR CHANGEAGENTS - “BEST – 2017” was organized at YMCA Ernakulam from 30th September to 2nd October 2017. Shri.M.P. Dinesh IPS, Commissioner of Police, Ernakulam, inaugurated the camp. Shri. Saju Kurian, Chairman Boys Division & Student Work Committee welcomed the gathering. The theme of this year’s camp was Leadership, Life Skill, Environmental & Social Awareness, Health & Hygiene, A cultural eve & camp fire. CA. Paulson.K.P., Vice President, presided over the meeting. Shri. Muraleedhara Rama Varma, Deputy General Manager, Muthoot Finance was the guest of honour. Mrs. Molly Mathew, Mr. M.I. Varghese, IFS (Rtd.) , Mr. Benson Thomas George, gave the tips to success in life. Mrs. Valsa George, led the Yoga & meditation and camp fire & Music Night were the added attraction of “Best 2017”. A total of 116 students participated in the camp.

Gandhi Jayanthi Observance Day

As part of the Gandhi Jayanthi Observnace, Ernakulam YMCA organized a Roller Skating Rally from Rajendra Maidanam to Pachalam. The day began with the Garlanding Gandhi Statue & the Flag off by Adv. Thomas Abraham, President, YMCA Ernakulam. Shri. Saju Kurian, Chairman, YMCA Boys Division & Student Work Committee welcomed the gathering. Adv. Thomas Abraham, President, YMCA Ernakulam presided over the meeting. Mrs. Mary George Thottam, President, Roller Skating Association, Ernakulam was the chief guest. Adv. P.V. 38th YMCA – Servo All Kerala Open Prize Money Table Tennis

Tournament 2017

The 38th YMCA-Servo All Kerala Open Prize Money Table Tennis Tournament was held from 6th to 8th October 2017 at the YMCA South Area Branch, Indira Nagar, Kadavanthara. The tournament was inaugurated by Mr. K. Navin Charan, General Manager, Retail Sales, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. Adv. Thomas Abraham, President, presided over the function, Mr. C.C. Jacob, Chairman, Sports & Games Committee welcomed the gathering. Mr. Saju Kurian, Chairman, South Branch YMCA and Mrs. Radhika Suresh, Organizing Convenor felicitated the participants. Mr. N.V. Eldo, General Secretary proposed vote of thanks. 350 players from all over Kerala participated in the tournament. M/s. Indian Oil Corporation was the main sponsor of the tournament. The Valedictory function was held on 8th October 2017. Adv. Thomas Abraham, President, YMCA Ernakulam presided over the function. Mr. Jose K. George distributed the prizes.

Inter Sunday School Competitions

Inter Sunday School Competitions were held on 18th November 2017. The competitions were held in Bible Quiz, Light Music, Group Singing, Elocution, Bible Reading, Sword Drill, Skit & Choreography. 200 children from various Sunday Schools in and around Cochin City participated. St. Francis CSI Church, Fort Kochi was the winner. Jerusalem Marthoma Church, Elamkulam was the runner-up.

Seminar on “Rights to Information Act – Possibilities & Challenges

YMCA Ernakulam organized a seminar on “Rights to Information Act – Possibilities & Challenges” was held on 14th October 2017 at the YMCA Ernakulam. Dr. Mohan George Madhavamangalam, Chairman, YMCA Programme Committee welcomed the gathering. Adv. Thomas Abraham, President, YMCA Ernakulam presided over the meeting. Motivation class was held on 13th September 2017 at S. George High School, Edappally for their students of 10th standard. Adv. Kurian George Tharakan led the motivation class. MONTHLY PRAYER FELLOWSHIP

Monthly prayer fellowship is conducted every second Thursday of the

month. Adv. Kurian Gorge Tharakan, Mr. Jacob Kurian and Mr. Justice Samuel

were the speakers who delivered the Bible message.

YOGA AWARNESS CLASS

Yoga Awareness class was held on 16th Saturday 2017 at YMCA Palarivattom Branch in association with Peringattu Residents Association. Sri. T. J Vinod, Deputy Mayor, Cochin corporation inaugurated the function. Adv. D. Pappachan, Vice- Chairman presided over the meeting. Adv. Anil Kumar, President, Peringattu Resident Association welcomed the gathering. Mr. Joy Pallan, Secretary, PRA, spoke on the occasion. ECUMENICAL SUNDAY SCHOOL RETREAT

Ecumenical Sunday School Retreat was held on 28th October 2017at YMCA Palarivattom Branch. Adv. Thomas Abraham, President, YMCA Ernakulam inaugurated the retreat. Adv. YMCA open snooker tournament was held from 9th November 2017 to 12th November 2017 at YMCA Palarivattom Branch. Dr. T. V Ravi, Director, Ernakulam Medical Centre inaugurated the tournament. Adv. YMCA South Area Branch conducted Onam Kit Distribution on 1st September 2017. YMCA Distributed 50 onam kits to deserving families. The distribution inaugurated by Mr.P.T.Thomas MLA. Adv. A Youth Camp was conducted in association with Y’s men International

district 2 at YMCA South Area Branch on 10th September 2017.The Camp was inaugurated by Mr.Joseph Kottooran IPRD, Y’s men International. Mr. Geevarghese A.K presided the function. Mr.Saju Kurian, Branch chairman welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Valsala Vargese, Dr. A.O. Thomas, spoke on the occasion. 40 students participated in the camp. YMCA South Area Branch conducted District Inter school Roller Skating Championship on 23rd September 2017. Shri.K.J.Maxi MLA inaugurated the tournament .Adv. YMCA South Area Branch conducted Positive Health Awareness Class on 26thSeptember 2017 at Lady of Hope AIHS, school,Vypeen and St.Marys High school, Vallarpadam. Shri. Saju Kuriran , Chairman ,YMCA south Area Branch took the classes.

District Inter School Table Tennis Tournament

District Inter School Table Tennis Tournament was conducted on 6th

October 2017 at the South Branch YMCA. More than 35 students participated in the tournament. Mr. K Navin Charan, General Manager, Indian Oil Corporation distributed the prizes to the winners.

THRIKKAKKARA PROJECT CENTRE

12th State Sub Junior – Junior Rollball Championship

Ernakulam YMCA in association with State & District Rollball Association organized 12th State Sub Junior – Junior Rollball Championship on 9th & 10th Sep, 2017 at Thrikkakkara Project Centre of Ernakulam YMCA. 26 teams from 12 districts participated. Prof. K.V. Thomas inaugurated it and Adv. Thomas Abraham, President Ernakulam YMCA presided. Mr. Jyothiprakash; President State Rollball Association was the Chief Guest. Mr. P.V. Udayan; Secretary Kerala Rollball Association, Smt. Nisha Beevi; ward councilor Thrikkakkara 38th ward, Mr. N.V. Eldo; General Secretary Ernakulam YMCA, Mr. M.H. Abdul Kalaam; General Convener organizing committee attended the event. Kasargod, Kozhikode, won the championship in Junior – Sub Junior category respectively. Ernakulam won the girls sub junior championship. Ernakulam YMCA President; Adv. Thomas Abraham, State Rollball Association President; Mr. Jyothiprakash and YMCA Thrikkakkara Project Centre Chairman; Bbaby P. Kurian gave away the prizes. YMCA General Secretary; N.V Eldo, P.V Udayan, Jayaktishnan, M.H. Abdul Kalam addressed the closing session on 12th Sep. Winners are heading towards interstate & national competitions. YMCA Ernakulam wishes them success.

ROT SPORTS 2017

Rotary Club Cochin Airport organized “ROT SPORTS 2017”. It was held on

18th October 2017 at Angamaly Vishwajyothi CMI Public school. 11 students

and 3 teachers from YMCA Chaithanya Special School participated. Ashwin

from YMCA Chaithanya Special School got 3rd prize in shot-put and all

participants got consolation prizes.
