CommunityOMC opens School-based Healthcare Clinic at Willow Springs School

Healthy Students Make Better Learners! Ozarks Medical Center (OMC) opened a new healthcare clinic located on the Willow Springs School District R-IV campus.

OMC Willow Springs is a unique healthcare model in which com-prehensive physical and preven-tative healthcare services are pro-vided to school-aged youths and school staff in the school setting. It is a result of a collaboration be-tween the Willow Springs School District and OMC, in order to support the healthcare needs of

the student population.

This collaborative approach is to take care of the student’s health and well-being while sup-porting attendance and achieving academic success. It improves access to care for students, so that students and parents do not need to miss school or work to get care. Students and staff can come to the clinic for routine healthcare, minor injuries or to be treated when they are ill. The clinic will take appointments as well as walk-ins.

“We are fortunate to be able to partner with OMC to bring healthcare access to many of our stu-dents who may otherwise not be able to receive the medical care they need,” said William Hall, Superintendent, Willow Springs R-IV School District.

OMC Willow Springs will be staffed by Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner Hilda Newell and Dr. Sarah Williams, Board Certified Family Practice Physician. OMC medical providers will work closely with community providers, the school nurse and school staff to ensure that stu-dents get the care they need at school, or through community support services.

The OMC healthcare professionals will not replace the student’s primary care provider if they have one, and will contact the provider should they need treatment.

OMC Willow Springs will be open Monday and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., for appointments and walk-ins, even when school is not in session. It is located at 201 West High Street, Suite 2, Willow Springs. Please call 417-252-6994 with any questions, or to make an appointment.

Almighty God, provider of everything that is good and the sustainer of our

souls, we thank you for your goodness and provisions which nourish life. We

are thankful: for our homes which keep us warm, for the food which give us

strength, four our family and friends, for our jobs, for our country which we

live and for your Spirit upon us. This Thanksgiving, may each of us truly

be thankful for your blessings upon us. In Thanksgiving may we rejoice and be glad. In

Jesus name we pray, Amen.

I volunteer because...

“I enjoy the happiness that helping others

gives me and the interaction with patients.

I can see that what I do matters to patients

Ozarks Medical Center Receives an “A” for Patient Safety in Fall 2018 Leapfrog Hospital Safety GradeThe Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health care system, on November 8, released new Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, which assign A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide. Ozarks Medical Center (OMC) was one of 832 (32%) hospitals to receive an “A” for its commitment to reducing errors, infections, and accidents that can harm patients.

“OMC is continually implementing new and advanced process-es and we are seeing results as is shown in receiving our second Grade A,” stated Kurt Abbey, chief nursing officer and chief op-erating officer, OMC. “Earning an “A” grade from Hospital Safety Grade means we are one of the safest hospitals in the United States.”

“Hospitals that earn top marks nationally in the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, ‘have achieved the highest safety standards in the country,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “That takes commitment from every member of the hospital staff, who all deserve thanks and congratulations when their hospitals achieve an ‘A’ Safety Grade.”

Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. To see OMC’s full grade, and to access consumer-friendly patient tips for staying safe in the hospital, visit www.hospi-talsafetygrade.org or follow the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade on Twitter or Facebook. Consumers can also download the free Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade mobile app for Apple and Android devices. To learn more about The Leapfrog Group and OMC’s grade, click here.

Local Girl Scouts Donate to OMC Behavioral Healthcare

Many of the people who walk through our doors struggle to afford the basic things we take for granted – soap, toilet paper, deodorant… We are able to offer these items to our clients in need through the generous donations of our co-workers and community members. This service has truly made a difference in people’s lives. We recently received a large donation from Girl Scout Troop 10050 and we are so grateful!
