MTRCB Forum: “Matalinong Panonood Para sa Pamilya nina Juan at Juana”
Conduct of “Matalinong Paanonood Para sa Pamilya nina Juan at Juana” Campaign, is a flagship project of the MTRCB aims to create awareness on the ratings and classification system for movies and television of MTRCB.
It also empower parents, responsible adults, to determine the media and entertainment their children see.
This program also establishes relationships and partnerships with the Local Government Units, religious organizations, academic institutions and the movie and television industries.
The MTRCB conducted the “Matalinong Panonood Para sa Pamilya nina Juan at Juana” seminar in the following schools and universities: January:

MTRCB 2nd Family and Child Summit
The annual Family and Child Summit provides opportunities for parents and adults and young citizens to participate in the advocacies of the MTRCB towards empowerment of family members, every Juan and Juana including the kasambahays towards Matalinong Panonood. It also aims to create awareness and understanding of the revised classification ratings for both movies and television
The MTRCB successfully held its 2nd Family and Child Summit at the GT-Toyota Asian Center Auditorium, Univeristy of the Philippines-Diliman on 08 November 2014.
The summit dubbed as Matalinong Panonood Para sa Pamilya at Lipunan nina Juan at Juana, brought together almost 800 participants made of parents, youth, educators, and formators from various educational, religious and government institutions, volunteer organizations, and local communities, representatives from

“MTRCB UNCUT”
“MTRCB Uncut” is a thematic Infotainment TV program (MOA with People’s Television Network, Inc. and in cooperation with film and television personalities)
The program show will serve as a venue to inform the public, on a wider scale, of the projects, activities and initiatives of the MTRCB.

Regulatory Services Classification and Registration “Issuance of value-based and age-appropriate classification ratings for films, television programs, plugs and trailers, optical media materials and other publicity materials
The MTRCB pursuant to Section 3 of Presidential Decree No. 1986 is mandated with the power to review and classify movie, television materials and other related publicity materials, to supervise, regulate and grant, deny or cancel permits for importation, exportation of films and television materials.
For Fiscal Year 2014, the Board reviewed 187,378 materials. These materials were composed of films, television programs, plugs and trailers, publicity materials and optical media materials .
Monitoring Activity
As part of its powers and functions, the MTRCB Monitoring and Inspection Unit (MIU) Agents conduct daily monitoring of film and television materials being exhibited in theaters and television, as well as inspect buses and ferries to check compliance with the MTRCB rules and

Enforcement
Adjudication is a legal process of resolving complaints filed before the Board. Best Practices Conference is a less adversarial mode of resolving complaints. It normally involves a less grave incident of impropriety in media content.
There were sixty nine (69) cases referred to the Hearing and Adjudication Committee. Out of the 69 cases, 67 were resolved and decided for FY 2014. Nature of the cases are violations of Presidential Decree No. 1986 and its implementing rules and regulations and MTRCB Memorandum Circulars such as:
Alleged unbecoming behavior while in the performance of monitoring duties as MTRCB Deputy
Airing without permit of television programs
Public exhibition of unauthorized publicity materials
Scenes containing words and non-verbal acts with double meaning inappropriate for the television rating given to a particular program
Demeaning and derogatory depiction of women
Failure to superimpose the correct pictogram advisories
Failure to superimpose the classification rating given to a particular television program

Non-display and exhibition of color-coded film rating advisory standee in cinemas
Non-posting or permit to exhibit in cinemas
Alleged scenes and demeaning to the good name and image of a person or institution
Public exhibition of a film beyond the G and PG rating in buses

Sensitive scenes involving the institution of marriage in television programs
Public exhibition of a movie trailer of a film unfit for the classification given
Wrong classification rating and scenes containing words inappropriate for SPG rating
Other Programs: Implementation of the new “PG” classification for movie trailers
The MTRCB initiates to implement a new classification for movie trailers which is Parental Guidance (PG) to strike a balance between protecting the youth and giving opportunity for producers and film distributors to promote their films well.
The MTRCB caused the publication of our new Memorandum Circular on Trailers and Publicity Materials. This innovative circular allows for the classification of trailers under the “Parental Guidance” (PG) rating to better apprise parents of publicity content in theaters.
