Fall is in the air andsome boats have al-
ready gone to theirwinter resting place.Too bad because the
fall boating has been
fantastic! Yes, the
search is over, yourCommodore finally
has a boat!
There has been plenty
of activity around thegrounds since I wrote
my last article. Most
of it revolved aroundthe pool and sailing
events. The cannon-
ball splash party wasa big success with
young and old enjoy-
ing the diving boardsfor some friendly
competition. Yours
truly even competed
in full uniform! Fol-lowing that there was
a Commodore’s re-
ception for the GreenIsland Racers. Fleet
Captain of Sail hon-ored all previous 1st
place finishers with a
trophy inscribed withthe year they won.
PCYC was well rep-
resented with JEBhaving the most 1st
place finishes since
1984! Congratula-
tions to all that havefinished first over the
years you deserve to
be proud!
The Green Island
Race was held onSunday which didn’t
finish until late due tolack of wind. Therewere a few racers that
dropped out and
elected to have a
swim instead of racein 90 degree heat and
no wind. Can’t say I
blame them for want-
ing to cool off.
On the following
Sunday we hosted the
first “bring your dogto the pool swim”.
The dogs had a blast!
At one point I esti-mate there was
around 30 dogs in
and around the pool. This was a great
event and there is talk
of making it an an-
nual event the week-end after the pool
closes.
By the time you re-
ceive this article the
demolition of the
pool will be well un-der way. On Sunday
September 20th a
group of members
readied the site forthe construction
crew. The diving boards were disas-
sembled and put in
storage, the fencewas taken down ear-
lier in the week, pool
furniture was relo-
cated, kiddie pool
equipment was re-moved and we are
ready for a new era to begin. We will betaking frequent pic-
tures and placing
them on our Face-
book page and in the bar so log on or stop
in and follow the pro-
gress!
October has many
events and not tomention, it’s just a
great time around the
Club! That’s all for
now and I hope to see
you soon!

little nicer, but everyone made the
most of it and had a good time
(Bloody Mary’s may have helped).
I would like to thank all who at-tended and helped with theCruise-Outs this year. It is thepeople who make these events soenjoyable. It is always a pleasure
to get together with fellow mem-bers for a weekend on the wa-ter. There are still some goodweekends left this year. Hopefullyyou are able to get out and enjoy.
Happy Boating,
RJ Basil
We have officially closed the bookon another great year of Cruise-Outs. The Put-In-Bay event wasthe last event of the year and wasa great success with eighteenboats attending. We had a pizzaparty Friday evening and a cook-
out on Saturday morning. The
weather Saturday could have been a
Greetings to all PCYC Members.
The Green Island Weekend was a
great success. Thanks to all those
who assisted in either supporting
the weekend festivities or partici- pating in the events. We couldn’t do
it without everyone’s support! Re-
sults are posted on the PCYC Web-
site.
As we approach the end of the sail-
ing season next up is the Snow
Flurries Regatta on October 3 & 4.
The fleet will be participating in the
Fall Bay Regatta at Put-In-Bay Sep-
tember 26 & 27 after which they
will head to Port Clinton for the
Snow Flurries Regatta weekend. We are looking forward to a great
weekend!
The Jr. Sail Team finished packing
up their boats for the winter so the
sail area is getting sparse. Your Sail
Team had a great year and will be
ready to go early next year. Over
the winter they expect to stay busywith Fund Raising Dinners and
Sailing Seminars. More on that
when the calendar is ready.
Jayson “JJ” Miller attended the La-
ser District 18 Grand Prix at Eagle
Creek Sailing Club in Indianapolis.
As a result of his effort, he was
awarded the Inaugural Jr. Cham-
pion Award. This award was dedi-
cated by District 18 in honor of
Wayne Meyers of Eagle Creek for
his contribution to the I-LYA Jr.Sailing Program. Thanks to Wayne
for all his support.
The Sail Team and Learn to Sail
Director Linda Sprenger is already
pulling things together for next
year. As the year progresses please
feel free to contact Linda or myself
with any Learn to Sail or RaceTeam questions.
Every other month I have been ask-
ing members of the Jr. Sail Team to
write articles for the Jib Sheet.
These articles give our young sail-
ors an opportunity to share some of
their experiences and outlooks on
the sailing season. I hope you enjoy
their experiences. Next up will be
Ben Sprenger whose article will
appear in next month’s Jib Sheet.
Enjoy the Good Weather and Sail
On!
