We hope you enjoy the talent displayed by our music department as it pre- sents a variety of pieces for your enjoyment. As with all elements of our program here at LHSKC we proclaim “to God be the glory”. This concert promotes “the arts”. Next month we will be promong the dramac producon of Bye, Bye, Birdie. Students and direc- tors spend countless hours praccing and rehearsing in order for both events to be arsc success. The curriculum of Lutheran High requires students to parcipate in two full credits of “arts” classes. Some might raise the queson “Why spend so much me on the arts?” Maybe students should spend more me on math or the sciences. This debate rages on in higher educaon as researchers develop and support conflicng theses on the impact of arts classes and student achievement. Recently a researcher from UCLA declared that students who had more involvement in the arts scored beer on standardized tests, but another from Harvard wrote a book maintaining there is simply no evidence to support student improvement in core subject areas because of an involvement in the arts. Who is right/wrong? Perhaps the Bible can shed some light on this subject. Consider Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.” Great art can be a powerful communicaon tool. Art can encourage sociees to loſty heights or it can bring a culture to ruin. In the Chrisan realm we should be “dwelling on these things” a reminder that Chrisans thrive on intelligence in discerning the arsc realm. Enjoy tonight’s performance as we glorify our Lord with the noise of praise. God bless. Dr. Cary Stelmachowicz

Welcome to the fall music concert. We hope you enjoy the talent displayed by our music department as it pre-sents a variety of pieces for your enjoyment. As with all elements of our program here at LHSKC we proclaim “to God be the glory”. This concert promotes “the arts”. Next month we will be promoting the dramatic production of Bye, Bye, Birdie. “Oh sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.” Psalm 98:1

Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel? Roger Emerson

Didn't my Lord deliver Daniel? Deliver Daniel, deliver Daniel? Didn't my Lord deliver Daniel?

And why not every man?

He delivered Daniel from the lion's den And Jonah from the belly of the whale

And the Hebrew children from the fiery furnace Why not every man?

Blest Are They David Haas Blessed are the poor in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful,

for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart,

for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers,

for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they

persecuted the prophets who were before you. Matthew 5:3-12

Esto Les Digo Kinley Lange

The text is taken from Matthew 18:19-20. Phrase by phrase, a literal translation would be: Esto les digo, 'This I say to you, si dos de ustedes se ponen, if two of you are put, se ponen de acuerdo aquí en, are put in accord here in, en la tierra para pedir, in the earth to ask, pedir algo en oración, to ask anything in prayer, mi padre que está en el cielo, my Father which is in heaven, se lo dará. will give it to you. Porque donde dos o tres Because where two or three

se reúnen en mi nombre, are gathered in my name, allí estoy yo, there am I, en medio de ellos. in the midst of them.'

E’en So Lord Jesus Quickly Come Paul Manz

Rejoice in heaven, all ye that dwell therein,

Rejoice on earth, ye saints below,

For Christ is coming, is coming soon!

E'en so, Lord Jesus, quickly come,

And night shall be no more;

they need no light nor lamp nor sun,

For Christ will be their all.

Lord of the Dance (Combined Choirs) Larry L. Fleming

Dance, dance, wherever you may be;

I am the lord of the dance, said he .

And I lead you all, wherever you may be ,

And I lead you all in the dance, said he .

With Praise and High Thanksgiving Michael Ryan

It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High.

Psalm 92:1

Second Suite for Handbells Michael Helman

Resounding Joy Bell Choir A Mighty Fortress is Our God Luther/Moklebust

A mighty fortress is our God, a trusty shield and weapon; He helps us free from every need that hath us now overtaken.

The old evil foe now means deadly woe; deep guile and great might

Are his dread arms in fight; on Earth is not his equal.

With might of ours can naught be done, soon were our loss effected; But for us fights the Valiant One, whom God Himself elected.

Ask ye, who is this? Jesus Christ it is Of Sabaoth Lord, and there’s none other God;

He holds the field forever.

Hallelujah Leonard Cohen I did my best, it wasn't much;

I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch; I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you.

And even though it all went wrong, I'll stand before the Lord of Song

With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah.

All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name Holden/Childers

All hail the pow’r of Jesus’ Name! Let angels prostrate fall;

Bring forth the royal diadem, And crown Him Lord of all!

Let every kindred, every tribe, On this terrestrial ball,

To Him all majesty ascribe, And crown Him Lord of all!

Dream Johnny Mercer Dream - When you're feelin' blue; Dream - That's the thing to do.

Just watch the smoke rings rise in the air, You'll find your share of memories there.

So dream - When the day is through; Dream -And they might come true.

Things never are as bad as they seem, So dream, dream, dream.

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;

The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend, Even so, it is well with my soul.
