It was a wonderful community event staged right here in our school grounds. It was so nice to see so many people from our school community come in and support our fundraising efforts, and was also a nice addition to the Ocean Shores Art Expo that ran in the hall throughout the weekend. It truly was a showcase of so many talented musicians and artists, and provided great food and fun activities for all to enjoy. We certainly hope you had as much fun attending as I know all of the volunteers had in putting the day together. After speaking to our P&C treasurer, the day was a huge success as a fundraising opportunity, with money raised on the day in excess of $10,000. There are so many people to thank for the incredible effort to pull such an event together, which starts with the organising committee and finishes with the many people who stayed to help clean up and finalise the end of the day and so many items in between. A thorough report will be submitted by the P&C in next week’s newsletter. Thank you to everyone again for your support. SASS RECOGNITION WEEK This week is SAS (School Administrative Support) Staff Recognition Week. This gives us an opportunity to recognise the hard work that every one of our school support staff does for the students in our school. Ocean Shores Public School is one of those places where we all stand side by side and work together to achieve the very best outcomes for all of our students, and this is made so much easier because of our hard working team of non-teachers. These people work tirelessly every day they are here at Ocean Shores and help your child in a myriad of ways. You might like to pass on a note of thanks or speak to them to show your appreciation for the work that they do. Even the smallest amount of positive feedback goes a very long way. On behalf of all of the teaching staff, the school community and all of the students here at Ocean Shores PS, I would like to thank all of our SAS staff for the wonderful job they do each and every day. read and if interested, return the completed form to our school office by the end of next week to allow Sam time to collate the returns.

F.O.T.I. ART COMPETITION WINNERS

Thank you to all students who submitted an entry for our own Festival of the Imagination Art Competition. The entries were displayed near our library last Saturday with judging results as follows:

5-7 Years: Kerala Richards, James Ward and Ursula Carter.

8-10 Years: Olive Collyer and Layla Rose

11-13 Years: Sofia Nozdrina

Prizes and artworks were sent home with all students yesterday. Thank you for participating in this activity.

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS

Our school photographs have arrived and were sent home this week with all students. We hope you are happy with the final product. I had a quick scan through the photographs and other than my own picture (I’m sure we all hate having our own picture taken!) I thought they all looked great. The kids were all smiling and the backdrop looked great. Please let me know if there were any problems.

We have a number of group photos for our School Parliament, Sports Representatives, Combined Support Unit, and our Year 6 and Year 6 fun photographs available on display in the front office for families who would like to purchase a copy of any of these photos. They are $16 each if you would like to order one. Please contact the school office if this is an option you would like to take up.

DISCO DANCE FEST

Thank you to the huge amount of kids, staff and many parents who came along last night to enjoy a night of dancing and fun. All money raised from this disco (and another we have planned for next term) will be going to support our two families who recently lost everything in two separate house fires.

It was wonderful to see the kids all up and dancing and enjoying themselves, along with many of the parents who attended. Thank you for your support of this event. Our visiting DJ Jazzy Jeff reported that he thought it was the best disco he had ever attended. What a great bunch of kids we have here. We hope they all had a great time.

OOSH UPDATE

Community members will find attached to this newsletter a separate program information sheet for our OOSH that will be starting up at the commencement of next term. The flyer contains some details and cost details for both before and after school sessions. It also provides instructions for registering on the Camp Australia website. Please contact them if you have any further questions.

FATHERS DAY

Happy Father’s Day to all of our great dads for this coming Sunday. I hope you all enjoy a day spent playing and laughing and eating and spending time with your kids. And I hope they all show you how much they love you with lots of kisses and cuddles.

Thank you also to the many mums who came in to help provide an opportunity for the kids to buy something special for their dads. We appreciate your time. Thanks also to Schura Steinbrech and family for carefully wrapping all of the gifts for the kids too. A great team effort!!

THANK YOU

A quick special thank you to Michelle Kerlin, Billie Doody, Kate Harnell and Paula Farrell for giving up their time yesterday to cater for a professional learning session that took place in our library yesterday. The group who attended were full of praise for the huge arrangement of freshly made morning tea and lunch items. Thank you to these special mums for giving up your time to add to our P&C fundraising efforts.
