SEPTEMBER COLLECTIONS

PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGES!

Thought for

the Week

Do you know someone who might be

interested in becoming Catholic?

Or would you or someone you know like a

refresher in the basics of the Catholic faith?

If your answer is yes to any of these, consider

joining the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of

Adults) here at the parish this coming fall.

The RCIA is a series of classes for adults who

were never baptized, or who were baptized in

another Christian tradition, and interested in

learning more about the Catholic faith.

A new RCIA class is now forming, to begin this

coming September. A person does not have to be

certain they want convert to Catholicism when

the classes begin. All they need is an open mind

and heart.

If you or someone you know might be interested,

encourage them to call or email Father Rob,

301-475-9885, [email protected].

That Man Is You! (TMIY)

resumes Sat, Sep 12

This year TMIY will be offered both in person

(at the Parish Hall) and virtually on Zoom, from

6-7:30am. The videos will have a fresh, new

multi-speaker format, featuring eight new

speakers and new topics.

Why TMIY? Because God is calling men to be

better in all relationships, whether as husbands,

fathers, or members of the Church and

community.

This year’s program — The Vision of Man Fully

Alive — will enable men to experience authentic

freedom as sons of God. Through living the

three-fold mission of abiding presence, joyful

service, and loving sacrifice, their hearts and

homes will experience the joy that God desires.

To sustain them on their spiritual journey, the

men will be led directly to the three spiritual

foods that Christ Himself proclaims: the

Eucharist, the Word of God, and the Will of God.

That Man Is You! is a 26-week, structured

program that meets on Saturday mornings for 90

minutes and consists of fellowship over a light

breakfast, a video, and a small group discussion.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam

For the greater glory of God...

Dear Parish Family,

We are in the midst of a “Marian” time of the

year as we celebrate the Queenship of the Blessed

Virgin Mary on Saturday August 22, one of five

Marian days in August and September. Others

are the Assumption (August 15), Nativity of the

Blessed Virgin Mary (September 8), Most Holy

Name of Mary (September 12), and Our Lady of

Sorrows (September 15).

After Our Lord, Mary is honored more often on

the Church calendar than any other individual,

with 16 days dedicated to her unique place in

Salvation History as the Mother of God, Mother

of the Church, and Spiritual Mother to all of us.

Our Lady has always had a special place in my

heart because I believe that she has nurtured my

vocation to the priesthood. Each day I entrust

myself and my brother priests to her motherly

care. This is something we can all do, no matter

what our vocation or state in life.

Prayer to the Queen of Heaven

by St. Alphonsus Ligouri

Mother of my God, and my Lady Mary;

as a beggar, all wounded and sore, presents

himself before a great queen, so do I present

myself before you, who are Queen of Heaven

and Earth. Disdain not, I implore you, to cast

your eyes on me, a poor sinner.

God has made you so rich, that you might

assist the poor, and has made you Queen of

Mercy, in order that you might relieve the

miserable. Behold me then, and pity me;

behold me and abandon me not, until you

see me changed from a sinner into a saint.

So I hope. So may it be. Amen.

Faithfully, in Christ,

Fr. Rob
