HAVE YOU NOTICED??? ...that you can now see the rectory a little bit better. The 3 Large pine trees surrounding the rectory, the dead tree across from the church entrance and the dead tree at the entrance on Blithewood were all removed on November 10th by Dillon Tree Service by a very generous donation made by a member of the Knights of Columbus. …that the torn screens on the church windows have been fixed? We have a parishioner who has very generously taken out the majority of the screens in the church and rectory and fixed them. …that the blue tarp on the little roof on the lower entrance on the Blithewood side of the church is gone? Vytas Corp, who came in with the best estimate to replace the rectory roof, generously donated their time and materials to fix that small damaged roof. Update….we have completed the conversion from oil heat to gas heat in the church and are now trying to resolve the very old system that generates the heat through the church and hall. Many of the thermostats and valves do not work so we are trying to find an affordable and cost effective way to make the system work better. Also, if you are aware of anyone looking for a snow plowing job, we are also looking for estimates for this winter which is approaching fast. Thank you to everyone who has so generously made monetary donations or donations of their time and talent to upgrade and improve our church. We cannot thank you enough and are excited with all these great changes showing the love for this church. Thank you so much for supporting the church!

Knitting Group The next gathering for the Knitting Group is Thursday,

December 2nd from 9:30-11:00 am in the church hall.

Starting in January, the group will now meet the 1st

and 3rd Thursdays of the month in the morning from

9:30-11:00am. There will no longer be an evening

gathering. Any questions, please contact Tina at 508-

865-5833 or [email protected]

GATHERING HYMN Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus

First Sunday of Advent Cycle c

FIRST READING JEREMIAH 33:14-16

The days are coming, says the LORD, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and Judah. In those days, in that time, I will raise up for David a just shoot; he shall do what is right and just in the land. In those days Judah shall be safe and Jerusalem shall dwell secure; this is what they shall call her: “The LORD our justice.”

LITURGY OF THE WORD

RESPONSORIAL PSALM PSALM 25

Page 4: November 28, 2021 Mass Intentions and Calendar First

SECOND READING 1 THESALONIAN 3:12—4:2

Brothers and sisters: May the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we have for you, so as to strengthen your hearts, to be blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his holy ones. Amen.

Finally, brothers and sisters, we earnestly ask and exhort you in the Lord Jesus that, as you received from us how you should conduct yourselves to please God and as you are conducting yourselves you do so even more. For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

HOMILY

GOSPEL LUKE 21:25-28, 34-36

Jesus said to his disciples: “There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on earth nations will be in dismay, perplexed by the roaring of the sea and the waves. People will die of fright in anticipation of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand.

“Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and that day catch you by surprise like a trap. For that day will assault everyone who lives on the face of the earth. Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man.”

GOSPEL LITANY

NICENE CREED

I believe in one God, the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only

Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from

Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;

through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation he came

down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and

became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius

Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in

accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the

right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the

giver of life who proceeds from the Father

and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic

Church. I confess one baptism for the

forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
