Page 1 “Building Better Auditors” The almetto November 2016 President’s Message Happy Thanksgiving IIA Members and Friends, As we approach this time of the year with opportunities to enjoy our families and friends, I want to share a few chapter events and some ways to bless others. Training Opportunities: Grant Thornton will be providing our Annual Harvest Hope Seminar on December 7, 2016. Topics to be covered include: Soft Skills, Fraud, Identifying Emerging Risks, Cybersecurity, Auditing Culture, GRC Survey and Trends in Internal Audit. This is our annual food drive for Harvest Hope. If you plan to attend make sure to bring canned goods in order to be entered into the drawing for prizes . Please see an updated training schedule for the spring as well as some training classes offered by our IIA chapters in Charleston and the Upstate on pages 2-4. Ways to Bless Others: Don’t forget your canned goods for Harvest Hope. Sign up to work with the Scholarship Committee to assist in outreach to USC. Talk with your management about volunteering to serve as our 2nd VP (The opportunity provides leadership training and networking, 15 hours of CPE from the IIA for any IIA license holder, 2 paid trips to Disney in Orlando, free training at any chapter sponsored class, and potential advancement in the audit profession.) The Western Carolinas and Coastal Carolina Chapters of the IIA wanted to let you know of upcoming training opportunities with Dynamic Danny Goldberg, who was so popular at this year’s SC Annual Statewide Audit conference.

On Thursday, December 15, 2016, the Western Carolinas IIA Chapter will host Danny to present “Fraud Auditing for Internal Auditors” in Greenville, SC.

On Friday, December 16, 2016 the Coastal Carolina IIA Chapter hopes to bring Danny to the coast to present “IT Auditing for Non-IT Auditors” in Charleston, SC. If you are interested, please see contact information below and email for details. If there is enough interest, the class will be held.

Both courses offer an opportunity to introduce new auditors to Fraud and/or IT Auditing; promote knowledge for non- Fraud/IT auditors on staff; get in additional CPEs in beautiful SC; and, to socialize/network with colleagues in anticipation of the holiday season.
