The top-ranked high school seniors on the North Shore will be honored for their academic achievements tonight when the North Shore Chamber of Commerce hosts its 43rd annual Honor Scholars Recognition Dinner.

The dinner will recognize nearly 300 students from 30 public and private high schools on the North Shore, all of them ranked in the top 5 per-cent of their graduating class. Pictured below are

the region’s valedictorians.This year’s keynote speaker will be Salem

Mayor Kim Driscoll. Following dinner and the keynote address, students will be acknowledged individually and presented with awards in the presence of their parents, educators, chamber members and community leaders.

According to chamber President Robert Brad-ford, “The North Shore Chamber of Commerce

believes recognizing those who excel helps to provide incentive for young people to work to their highest potential and strive to be our lead-ers of tomorrow. Without achieving excellence in our schools, we cannot expect excellence in our workforce. The chamber welcomes the opportu-nity to exhibit support for excellence in education on the North Shore.”

The tradition began in 1968 when the

honorees were Beverly High School students, as the chamber served only Beverly. With the growth of the chamber, the dinner now accom-modates an audience of more than 1,000 people and recognizes the top scholars from across the region.

The dinner will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza hotel, 50 Ferncroft Road, Danvers.
