La Galería Albetina de Arte Fotográfıco es un espacio de expresión cultural, para quienes estén interesados en conocer y apreciar la fotografía contemporánea. Es además el primer espacio para el arte fotográfıco en Chiapas que trabaja de manera constante para traer a nuestros visitantes y a nuestra comunidad exposiciones de primer nivel.
En noviembre inauguramos “Mujeres de la Realidad” serie de la fotógrafa mexicana Angeles Torrejón quien retrata de manera poética la vida cotidiana de las mujeres indígenas de la comunidad zapatista La Realidad, podrás disfrutar de esta exposición de 6 de noviembre al 1 de diciembre de 2009.
Para celebrar el primer aniversario de la galería, hemos preparado la exposición colectiva “Habana” de tres reconocidos exponentes de la fotografía documental contemporánea; Juan Manuel Díaz Burgos, Francisco Mata Rosas y Raúl Ortega. La exhibición comprende 6 piezas de gran formato de cada autor, quienes de manera individual nos acercan a tres temas que envuelven la ciudad de la Habana; la fe, la pasión y la ideología.
Además durante la inauguración se proyectarán en el jardín de la galería fotografías y por supuesto ten-dremos un buen vino para celebrar!!. Esta muestra estará en nuestras instalaciones del 10 de diciembre al 31 de enero de 2010.
The Albetina Gallery of Photographic Art is a place of cultural expression, for those interest-ed in knowing and appreciating contemporary photography. It is the fırst photographic art gallery in Chiapas, which works constantly to bring fırst-rate exhibitions to our visitors and our community.
In November we launched the “Women of Reality” series by the Mexican photographer Angeles Torrejón who poetically portrays the daily lives of indigenous women in the Zapatista community. This exhibition will be available for your enjoyment from November 6 to December 1, 2009.
To celebrate the fırst anniversary of the gal-lery, we have prepared the group exhibition “Havana” of three well-known exponents of contemporary documentary photography, Juan Manuel Díaz Burgos, Francisco Mata Rosas, and Raúl Ortega. The exhibition includes 6 large pieces of each author, who individually bring us closer to three issues that surround the city of Havana: faith, passion, and ideology.
Also at the opening pictures will be screened in the garden of the gallery, and of course we will have a good wine to celebrate! This exhibit will be at our facility from December 10 to January 31, 2010.

San Cristóbal denominado Pueblo Mágico por la Secretaría de Turismo, es una ciudad para disfrutarse con todos los sentidos. Aquí te proponemos una ruta que te permitirá, en un día, conocer los rincones más escondidos, las recetas más tradicionales, las rutas para descubrir y vivir la ciudad al máximo. La mayoría de las actividades de la ruta se pueden adaptar a cualquier día de la semana.
Comienza el día temprano, San Cristóbal es una ciudad que despierta con amaneceres en la montaña inolvida-bles, disfruta del frío de la mañana y la neblina bajando por la montaña, paisajes muy típicos de ésta ciudad. Con una altura de 2,120m sobre el nivel del mar ubicado en la altiplanicie central del estado denominada Los Altos, esta región ofrece un surtido y calidad cafetalera de talla mundial, disfruta de un buen café chiapaneco acompa-ñado de un rico pan ‘coleto’, en esta ciudad existe gran cantidad de panaderías en las que podrás adquirir pantradicional. Ahora si, listos para comenzar!!
El zócalo es nuestro punto de inicio, con bellos jardines, rodeado de nobles edifıcios y casas coloniales, el quiosco es de donde partiremos. Te recomendamos que llegues lo más temprano que puedas, si logras llegar antes de que los comercios abran sus puertas al públicopodrás disfrutar de un panorama distinto de la ciudad, casi como si el tiempo volviera hacia atrás, una ciudad tranquila, sin tantos coches circulando, el aire fresco, las calles abiertas completamente al paso de la gente de la ciudad. Te proponemos que comiences tu caminata hacia el mercado municipal Jóse Castillo Tielemans caminando por la calle General Utrilla en dirección norte.
Como en muchas ciudades de este país, los mercados te ofrecen una gran variedad en productos locales,algunos de ellos vendidos por los propios productores de verduras, frutas, fıores y artículos religiosos. La mayoría de ellos provienen de comunidades indígenas que se encuentran a las afueras de la ciudad, Zinacantán, San Juan Chamula, etc. Así que la visita al mercado se vuelve
toda una experiencia multicultural y multisensorial. Si quieres probar algo nuevo y típico de la ciudad, te recomendamos que te dirijas a la zona de co-midas del mercado donde podrás disfrutar de los tamales típicos de la zona, tamal de mumo (hierba santa), de chipilin, y de bola. Acompañados de un rico atole agrio y atole de granillo (maíz). Saliendo del mercado camina por la calle 20 de noviembre, encontrarás la iglesia de Santo Domingo, con su impactante y bella fachada de estilo barroco salomónico magnífıco conjunto arquitectónico construido entre 1547 y 1551. A un lado del conve to de Santo Domingo, se ubica el Centro Cultural de los Altos de Chiapas, conjunto donde se ubica el Museo de Historia de la Ciudad, que muestra mediante objetos e imágenes los aspectos más relevantes de la historia de San Cristóbal de Las Casas hasta el siglo XIX. Se exhibe también una colección de textiles de Chiapas de cada una de las etnias y de sus técnicas de elaboración.
A un costado se encuentra la Alameda General Utrilla que se ha caracterizado por su atractivo turístico y colorido artesanal. Bajando por el andador eclesiástico hacia la catedral, encontrarás el teatro Daniel Zebadúa,uno de los mas antiguos de la ciudad, en el cual se presenta la obra teatral Palenque Rojo (consulta los horarios).¡Has llegado ya a la catedral, puedes parar un momento!, simplemente sentarte en las escalinatas de la iglesia a observar el paisaje y la rutina que se genera en la plaza de la paz, sede de muchos acontecimientos importantes de la ciudad, por allí han pasado líderes, artistas, políticos, etc. El paisaje es hermoso, el cerro del Huitepec se levanta justo frente a la catedral y es en donde se oculta el sol.Aprovecha este momento para hacer contacto con las vendedoras de artesanía, no hay nada mejor para conocer una ciudad que involucrarse con sus habitantes.

Continúa tu trayecto hacia el Templo y Arco del Carmen, de un peculiar estilo mudéjar, su imagen se ha convertido en una parte importante de la ciudad. A tu derecha, sobre la calle Hermanos Domínguez, puedes visitar el Cerro de San Cristóbal, desde el cual disfrutarás de una bella panorámica de la ciudad; la capilla en la cima del cerro se llena de fıeles que vienen a venerar la imagen del santo patrón y todo se alegra con marimbas, puestos de comida y fuegos artifıciales el 25 de julio, día de San Cristóbal. Los diez días previos a la festividad cada barrio hace una pere-grinación hasta la iglesia del cerro. Regresando sobre la misma calle encontrarás la iglesia de San Francisco. Allí mismo se encuentra el mercado de dulces y arte-sanías. Este es el punto donde inicia el tour del Tranvía “El Coleto” por puntos importantes de la ciudad.
Si ha llegado la hora de la comida, en nómada mapa encontraras una variedad de propuestas en distintos puntos de la ciudad, la mayoría de ellos se encuentran dentro del centro histórico desde comida internacional, nacional y por supuesto la regional. Por la tarde conti-nua el recorrido por el andador Guadalupano, al fınal encontraras la iglesia de Guadalupe localizada en la cumbre del cerro de Guadalupe, ésta se construyó en 1834. Para llegar se ascienden 79 escalones hasta la iglesia, es casi una peregrinación para llegar a la igle-sia y apreciar su belleza. Desde su exterior se observa una inigualable vista panorámica de la ciudad.
Las tardes de invierno en San Cristóbal son bastante frías y oscurece temprano, serás espectador del espectáculo que ofrece una ciudad rodeada de cerros, alrededor de las 18:30 hrs. cuando el sol se esconde detrás de las montañas de un momento a otro la ciudad se oscurece, dando pie aun espectáculo en el que el cielo es el protagonista, una ciudad cubierta de estrellas. Considerado por mucho tiempo Capital Cultural y orgullo del Estado de Chiapas, la ciudad tiene distintas ofertas culturales y artísticas, nosotros te recomendamos en el restaurant El Traspatio la mejor opción del sábado por la noche: el Ballet Folklórico AKOT AKOT, bailables de distintas regiones del país, se presenta todos los sábados de 21 a 22 hrs, único en la ciudad!. La vida nocturna en la ciudad te ofrece distintos ambientes que podrás disfrutar, desde cafes bar más tranquilos para tomar una copa y charlar, hasta lugares donde podrás bailar.

Start your day early because the sunrise in San Cris-tóbal is unforgettable. Enjoy the morning chill and the fog on the mountain landscapes that are typical of this city. With an altitude of 2,120 m, located in the central highlands of the state called the Highlands, this region offers a quality selection of products and world-class
coffee, which you can enjoy with delicious ‘coleto’ bread. In this city there are plenty of bakeries where you can purchase traditional bread. Now you are ready to go!!
The base is our starting point, with beautiful gardens surrounded by noble buildings and colonial houses, is the kiosk is where we started. We recommend that you arrive as early as you can. If you manage to arrive before the shops open their doors to the public, you can enjoy a different view of the city, almost as it was before a quiet town without so many cars running, fresh air, the streets completely open to the passage of the townspeople. We suggest you begin your trek to the municipal Jose Castillo Tielemans market by walking northbound on General Utrilla Street. Like many cities of this country, the market provides a wide variety of local products, some sold by the producers themselves: veg-etables, fruits, fıowers and religious articles. Most of them come from indigenous communities that are on the outskirts of the city, Zinacantán, San Juan Chamula, and others. So the trip to market becomes an experience both multicultural and multisensory. If you want to try something new and typical of the city, we recommend that you contact the food market area where you can enjoy the typical regional tamales: mumo (yerba santa), chipilin, and bola. With these you can enjoy delicious atole agrio or atole de granillo (corn). Leaving the market, walk down the street November 20 and fınd the church of Santo Domingo, with its powerful and beautiful Baroque Solomonic frontage, magnifıcent architectural complex built between 1547 and 1551. On one side of Santo Domingo, you fınd the Cultural Center of the Chiapas Highlands and the Museum of City History, which displays objects and images throughout the most relevant aspects of the history of San Cristobal de Las Casas up to the nineteenth century. It also displays a collection of textiles from Chiapas in each of the ethnic groups and their processing techniques.
On one side you will fınd the Alameda General Utrilla, which has been characterized by its colorful traditional tourist attraction. Walk down to the cathedral church and fınd the Daniel Zebadua theater, one of the oldest in the city, which presents the play Palenque Rojo (see schedule).
You’ve already reached the cathedral; you can stop for a minute! Just sit on the steps of the church and observe the scenery and the routine that is generated in the place of peace, home to many important events in the city and home also to past leaders, artists, politicians, etc. The scenery is beautiful; Huitepec hill rises opposite the cathedral and the sun sets behind it. Seize this mo-ment to interact with the craft vendors. There is nothing better for getting to know a city than to get involved with its inhabitants.
Continue your journey to the Temple and the Arch of Carmen. Made in a peculiar Moorish style, the Arch of Carmen has become an important part of the city. To your right, on Hermanos Dominguez Street, visit San Cristobal Hill, from where you will enjoy a beautiful view of the city. The chapel at the top of the hill is full of worshipers who come to venerate the image of the patron saint. They celebrate with marimbas, food stalls and fıreworks on July 25, the day of the Feast of San Cristobal. Ten days prior to the festival every neighbor-hood makes a pilgrimage to the church on the hill.

proyEcto posh / thE posh proJEctDurante los días 13, 14 y 15 de Noviembre, la ciudad de San Cristóbal de Las Casas, recibirá a mas de 95 proyectos artísticos originales de exponentes de diversos puntos del país en el marco del Festival de Expresiones Culturales de La Nueva Generación “Proyecto Posh 2009”
Éste es un foro abierto para artistas independientes de las artes literarias, escénicas, plásticas, audiovisuales y musicales, quienes compartirán escenarios públicos durante los tres días en una serie de eventos para todo público y sin fınes de lucro.
La programación de este año incluye una gira nacional de cortometrajes, una muestra de video documental, exposiciones colectivas de artes visuales, arte urbano, conferencias, presentaciones, talleres, teatro, danza y literatura, así como dos conciertos masivos, música electrónica continua y otro de bandas de diversos géneros, entre otros eventos.
Lejos del signifıcado que la palabra POSH tiene en la lengua inglesa, o del POX conocido como agua ardiente chiapaneco, el nombre de este proyecto parte del lema primordial de este encuentro que es “POXIL YU’UN BALUMIL”, expresión en lengua Tzotzil que de-nota “medicina para el mundo”, tomando al arte como aquella medicina universal. During the 13th, 14th and 15th of November, the city of San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, will host over 95 original art exhibits, examples of various parts of the country in the Festival of Cultural Expressions The New Generation “Posh Project 2009.“
This is an open forum for independent artists of the literary, performing, visual, audio and musical arts, who will share public stages over three days in a series of public and nonprofıt events.
The schedule this year includes a national tour of short fılms, a documentary video showing, visual art exhibitions, street art, lectures, presentations, work-shops, theater, dance and literature as well as two massive concerts, continuous electronic music, and band of different genres, among other events.
Far from the meaning of the word POSH in English, or POX known as ‘agua ardiente’ Chiapas, the name of this project, the primary theme of this meeting, is “POXIL YU’UN BALUMIL”, a term in the Tzotzil language meaning “medicine for the world”, taking this art as a universal medicine for the world. Returning on the same street you will fınd the church of San Francisco. Right there is the candy and crafts market. This is where the Tranvia “The Coleto” tour starts that goes to the important points of the city.
If the time has come for the food, in nómada mapa you will fınd a variety of proposals in different parts of the city, most of them near the center of the city—international, national, and of course regional cuisine. In the afternoon the tour continues with the Guadalupe walk, where in the end you will fınd the church of Guadalupe located at the summit of Guadalupe Hill. The church was built in 1834. To get to the church you ascend 79 steps. It is somewhat of a climb to appreciate its beauty. From the church there is an unmatched panoramic view of the city.
Winter evenings in San Cristobal are quite cold and get dark early. Around 6:30 pm, you will see the spectacle of-fered by this city surrounded by hills. When the sun sinks behind the mountains, the city darkens in a moment, giv-
ing rise to a show in which the sky is the protagonist: a city covered with stars. Long regarded as cultural capital and pride of the State of Chiapas, the city has various cultural and artistic offerings. We recommend the restaurant El Traspatio. The best thing to do Saturday night is attend the Ballet Folklorico AKOT AKOT, dances from different regions of country. It is presented every Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 pm, and it’s the only one in town! In the nightlife that the city has to offer, you can enjoy different atmospheres, from quiet and bar where you can drink and chat to places where you can dance.
