Contracts totalling nearly f16 million have recently been won for oil and gas production facilities both on and off-shore and for refineries. The off-shore projects in- clude three condensate booster pumps for a gas production platform in Indonesia; a repeat order for six pumps for offshore Vietnam; two vertical injection pumps for the Vigdis field in the North Sea Norwegian sector; 18 pumps for the Britannia gas production platform and four pumps for the Erskine project in the British sector. On-shore projects include eight oil pipeline and booster pumps for an oil production development in Colombia. All the units will be made from Weir’s duplex stainless steel. Manufacturing will be carried out at Weir’s main plant at Glasgow, with delivery later this year. Foster Wheeler Wood Group has awarded Weir a contract to supply equipment for the Scott field operated by Amerada Hess. The package comprises four units: single-stage booster pumps, eight-stage low pres- sure injection pump, and two- stage high pressure injection pumps. The new units will run in parallel with seven injection pumps supplied by Weir in 1991. The second contract, placed by Aker Offshore Partner ASL on Behalf of BP Norge, is for the supply of a multi-stage barrel casing pump to increase pres- sure in the BP Gyda field offshore Norway. A feature of the pump is its high suction pressure (335 bar G), and it will operate alongside other units supplied by Weir in 1988 and 1992. Weir also upgraded the water injec- tion facilities on sister field Ula on a similar basis in 1990. The new unit, together with HV motor driver, will be sup- plied in the autumn. The MSHA certification ap- plies to motors up to 450 kW, and qualifies these pumps for use in gassy environments un- derground. Carver Pump Companyu has received certification from In- tertek for compliance with the IS09001 quality assurance stan- dard. Mono Pumps (South Africa) has received IS0900 1 accredita- tion for the manufacture of its progressing cavity, rotary lobe and borehole pumps. Woma Apparatebau of Ger- many has been approved to IS09001 by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance for the de- sign, manufacture, sale and service of its range of high pressure water pumps and jet- ting systems.
