Into the Wild with Willem!Ready to join the adventure? On the new season of WINDOWS TO THE WILD, Willem Lange paddles a new trail down the Connecticut River from Canada to Massachusetts with a group looking to create a “Paddlers

Trail.” Then, hiking with Reverend David Keller, Willem discovers the spectacular way that nature can inspire spirituality. And he meets a WWII veteran and his children, life-long hikers who gave back to the trail to honor their father. (Willem’s take on this story is on his blog willemlange.com/Yankee_Notebook.) Also this season, he takes flight with pilot Peter Stauble from the Franconia Soaring Association. Did you know Willem has a kid-friendly side? In April, he’ll talk to Rebecca Rule as part of the NEW HAMPSHIRE AUTHORS SERIES at the UNH Dimond Library. Will’s written children’s books that highlight nature and the New Hampshire environment. His newest book, The White-Footed Mouse, illustrated by Bert Dodson, is the story of a father, a son, and the great outdoors. Come and meet Willem on April 14 in Durham; check listings for all of the NH Authors Series programs (nhptv.org/authors).

New Discoveries on American Experience

It’s a month celebrating discovery and industry on AMERICAN EXPERIENCE. First explore two complicated figures in American industrialism. ANDREW CARNEGIE’s life embodied the American dream: the immigrant who went from rags to riches, the self-made man who became a captain of industry, the king of steel. He preached the obligation of the wealthy to return their money to the societies where they made it, but he may have had other motivations to do so. Then, the story of a son trying to recast the image of his family name — and his own — to redefine the feared memory of his farther’s predatory business practices and major oil industry monopoly in ROCKEFELLER.

Finally, investigate a new age of discovery and learn about the pioneering scientists and engineers who transformed rural Santa Clara County into the hub of technological

ingenuity we now know as SILICON VALLEY.
