The year 2017-18 has ended well for B-ABLE as we have been able to train a record

number of youth – 54,500 under different skill training programs, 41,326 under the

NSQF vocational schools program, 1,922 informally skilled workers under

from the management and the Board, the support of the NSDC, the government

agencies we work with and our field partners, which together has enabled us to

achieve this. Having said this, several of our founding purposes are yet to be

significantly addressed.

We would like B-ABLE to train many more rural youth, particularly girls, in green

skills like sustainable agriculture, renewable energy recycling and eco-tourism.

We made a great beginning for this in Sikkim five years ago. We would like to train many more urban youth in self-

employment, not as struggling "lone rangers" but as micro-franchisees of big brands, like Eye Mitras are for Essilor. And we

would like to do many more employer funded programs, under CSR or otherwise. Of course, we need to do this in a manner

where both quality and profitability are ensured.

I wish the Team B-ABLE a great year ahead and let s hope we can make a breakthrough in the areas I indicated above.

From the Founder s Desk

Mr. Vijay Mahajan
