Adam Hall And The Velvet Players - Mrs Almeida Adam Hall and the Velvet Players will be performing at Marmion Primary School on Tuesday 22 May for 2 sessions. Adam Hall and the VPs is a five piece jazz ensemble from Western Australia that specialises in a high energy, entertaining brand of jazz and blues. The VPs tantalise listeners with their popular sound reminiscent of legends like Ray Charles and Frank Sinatra but is also unique in its own richness and style. This exciting group explores the melodies and toe-tapping rhythms of a variety of jazz, blues and rumba styles from well-known tunes to original works. Students will be enthralled by their instrumental and vocal flexibility and the ease of their improvisational skills! This performance is part of our school’s music learning program in Years 1 – 6 and builds on preparatory work done in the classroom. The learning experiences have been directly linked to the curriculum and have been participating in a variety of activities including scatting, improvising, composing using the 12 bar blues, dance routines and much more. We will be having 2 sessions with this amazing group in Week 4. Years 1-3 will attend at 11:40am and Years 4-6 at 1:20pm. Parents are welcome to come along and join in the creative experience of making jazz music!

German Assembly - Frau Valli

A group of 16 very enthusiastic Year 4 students performed the German assembly “Die Kleine Raupe Nimmersatt” or “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. These students gave up their time before school and at lunch time to prepare for the assembly.

Many people have commented that the students looked so confident when speaking a foreign language and that they spoke with excellent fluency and great expression. I am very proud of their efforts, which demonstrate the high level that primary school children are capable of achieving and I would like to congratulate them on their performance.

More Good Reasons To Learn German

More than 300 German companies provide jobs for 90,000 Australians. It's a great language! It is very logical and easy to learn, as the rules about forming sentences and pronunciation are almost always reliable, unlike English which has a lot of exceptions!

What Teenagers Might Ask About Relationships and Other Stuff...

Adolescence is a time of many changes. As our Year 5 and 6 students approach this developmental stage in their lives, questions occur. Our school nurse has provided an information booklet that may help with some of the questions asked regarding relationships. If you would like to access these booklets please ask for one at the front office.

Canteen Corner We have added more to our menu! The colder weather is coming and we are trying a new recipe in the canteen. Mild chicken curry with rice is available on Thursdays for $6 a serve. Depending on popularity we will change to different meals to see what everyone enjoys. Feedback is always welcome. In providing additional options, but not removing anything in its place, our need for volunteers is increasing and we still have far too many empty spaces on the roster.

Volunteers – We need you! We’ve just begun Term 2 and would like to remind all those that would like to, or be able to volunteer to please do so. You can indicate your preference by writing it down on the copy of the roster located in the canteen or let Katie know on [email protected] to secure your spot. We always appreciate your help and welcome new and experienced helpers. The volunteering commitment is only for a short time in the morning and is not a big impost to your day so please, if you haven’t before, give it a go! Keep your eye on Marmion Primary school community face page for reminders and canteen news.

The Term 2 P&C Meeting will be held on Wednesday 23 May at 7:30pm in the Library. We invite all parents, grandparents, guardians and friends of Marmion Primary to attend. Marmion Primary has a strong and vibrant community spirit and a P&C is a vital part of this. Meetings are short and fun and are great opportunity to learn more about how the school works. You can contribute ideas and have a say on how the hard earned fundraising money is spent! Look forward to seeing you there!
