Running the Rift Marathon is 100% not for profit. Every penny of their proceeds goes to Kyaninga Child Development Centre (KCDC), a charity that helps Ugandan children with disabilities. Smooth Classics on the HillOn November 5, the Kampala Music School presents ‘Cello and Piano concert’, featuring Abbie Inman and Michael Kijjambu on cello, with piano played by KiggunduMusoke, Peter Muhire, Job Tezigatwa, Jonathan Beggs and others, and all this merriment while enjoying the breeze of the lake. Kampala International Theatre FestivalAll you theatre aficionados can head to the Ndere Cultural Centre on Kisaasi-Kira Road for The Kampala International Theatre Festival. Spanning from November 23 to 27, 2016, the premier theatre festival in Uganda and East Africa is aimed at developing and promoting all forms of theatre. Follow their Facebook page for more information.

My Craft Café in NaguruOver November 11 and 12, Sophie Viguier invites you to “My Craft Café”, a coffee shop which will be set up in her garden in Naguru for 2 days.

This temporary and fancy place will also include a traditional craft exhibition, where about 12 artisans will display their wonderful work (pottery, ironworks, dressmaking, baskets, bags, papier-mâché, leather, barkcloth art and craft, and even plants !) and you’ll also be able to purchase coffee beans, homemade jam and honey ! They will serve coffee, homemade cakes, sweets, and more for a small fee. All proceeds from these will go to the French association “Les Écoliers de Kampala” (http://www.lesecoliersdekampala.org/), which works on helping a hundred Kampala slum children to go to school on a daily basis. New this time is also a movie show about the history of the pottery centre at Vision for Africa and kids activities on Saturday. Africa Birding ExpoThe Africa Birding Expo will be held at the Botanical Gardens in Entebbe from November 18 to 20th, 2016. This expo, first of its kind, is expected to attract birders from Africa, Europe, USA, Australia, UK, Canada, South Africa, Russia, Asia, and other parts of the world. This will be preceded by the Birding Big Day on Saturday November 12. For more information visit their Facebook page.

Milege World Music FestivalThe Milege World Music Festival Entebbe Uganda is a 3-day celebration,from November 25 to 27, 2016, of exceptional African arts, presenting an outstanding line-up of bands, dance groups, DJ’s and musicians as well as poetry, storytelling, visual arts, fashion, crafts, food and drink from the four corners of East Africa, all in the stunningly beautiful setting of the Entebbe Botanical Gardens. In addition to the arts programmes, a variety of games, children’s activities, bonfire stories and dance, forest walks, boat rides etc, together with the possibility of camping on the grounds of the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, creates a unique experience. ‘Party in Colour’ at the Kampala Beer FestivalLa’ Tenak International is back with the annual Kampala Beer Festival for the third time at its new home at Kyadondo Rugby Club. This year’s theme is ‘Party in Colour’, and the organizers expect revelers to show up in high spirits for fun, colour and pomp. In keeping with this, they will be showcasing Uganda’s finest DJs and one headlining DJ from Kenya. Also part of the festival, are colour-themed spectacle, beer games, music and dance! Hairy Lemon kayaking weekendThe month looks fun-filled at the Mountain Club of Uganda (MCU) with the ‘Sailing on Lake Victoria’ over November 5 and 6 at Entebbe Sailing Club, hosted by Pierre from MCU who is on the board at the club. There will be sailing at a reduced rate for people of all experience levels, possibly a BBQ Saturday evening and camping. This is a nice opportunity to try outsailing. In addition, the long-awaited Hairy Lemon kayaking weekend is back on November 12 and 13!
