Education Week 2020 is a state-wide, annual event to celebrate public
education in NSW. Reflecting on the incredible year
to date – with the bushfires, floods and continuing
drought as well as the COVID-19 pandemic ,
Education Week will focus on the achievements of students, school staff, parents, and
the community as we have continued to learn together in 2020.
This year it will be held from Monday 3 August to Friday 7 August. As we can’t have
visitors in the school for our annual ‘open day’ the school will be putting together a
Special Edition KPS Kat News. Each class will present a page of news including
art, photos from lessons, work samples from the students etc .. stay tuned!!
We will miss seeing you all here.
**Reports** will be sent home Friday (tomorrow)
Please contact the school next week to make an appointment if you wish to
discuss your child’s progress with their teacher.

Stage 3 Fundraising Bus Extravaganza The Year 6 Fundraising Team are working hard this term to raise the money needed for the Stage 3 Camp Buses. Next Week each class in the school will have a poster of a bus in their classroom. Students are asked to bring in gold coins during the week to help cover their bus. The class who raises the most money will have their own Mufti Day and ice-blocks. Thank you so much to families for your support for our campers in Years 5 and 6. Sue Campbell Neale
P&C News The next P&C Meeting will be at 7.15pm on Wednesday 12th August . Due to COVID-19 we are still unable to meet in person, but we’ll be having an official meeting via Zoom - the meeting details will be in next week’s news-letter and sent out via Skoolbag. If you have any questions or don’t have internet access, give Cate Paterson a call on 4782 1226.
Traffic safety before and after school Thanks to all our drivers who are conscious of the safety of our young pedestrians as they arrive at and leave
school each day. Blue Mountains City Council is working with the school to improve traffic safety, however, there
are things we can all do too:
The Children’s Crossing on Merriwa St operates in the same way as a permanent pedestrian crossing, so
when the flags are out, please stop for pedestrians.
If the Children’s Crossing flags are not out for any reason in the morning, feel free to grab them from the
Office entranceway and put them out.
Drop your children off in designated parking spots – please don’t double park, stop on the crossing or in the
bus zone.
Remind your children to push their bikes across the road, not ride them.
Please stand on the footpath when waiting for your child in the afternoon, not the road.

The catalogues for the new issue of Book Club will be given to interested
students this week. Orders need to be placed through the Scholastic Online
Loop by Monday 10th August. Orders are processed after the
closing date and are usually at school about a week after processing.
Orders can only be accepted through the Scholastic Book Club LOOP
online payment system. You can register at www.scholastic.com.au/LOOP
and then place your order by credit card. When it asks for the teacher select Mr Lehman as he co-ordinates Book
Club for the school. Please note that cash payments for Book Club cannot be accepted and you cannot make
payments to the school via our POP system.
Thank you

As of July 2020, the school has taken over the management of the uniform shop. Our lovely P&C volunteers will
still be here to help us open the shop on a weekly basis and we thank them for the amazing job they have done
running the uniform shop in the past. What it does mean is that payments can now be made online as well as
cash. If you make an online payment, you must still return a completed order form with your receipt number
so we know which items you are paying for. Orders have been placed as stocks have run extremely low & we
have just received a delivery of skorts, shorts, track pants and trousers if you wish to place an order. An updated
order form is going home with this week’s newsletter and forms are also available at the office during school
hours.
We have 5 bomber jackets left, 2 in size 16
and 3 in size 12. These jackets will not be
re-stocked, however they are still uniform
and these last 5 are available for $15.00 each
instead of the usual $30.00. If you wish to
purchase one, please bring cash only to the
office on a 1st in 1st served basis.
