This month’s cloze test is from a story about a monkey who misbehaved, and ended up learning a valuable lesson! We’ve made it a bit trickier by taking out 8 words. This is called a cloze test. Read through the words in the black box first and make sure you understand them. Then, read through the article. Make sure you think about the best place to put a word, not the first place. Careful as you go, as some words may fit in a few places, while other words will only suit one place.

CHEEKY LITTLE MONKEY

A very ___________ monkey got himself into a lot of trouble recently.

The baby long-tailed macaque (pronounced macawk) passed out with after ___________ down a cup of coffee it stole from a tourist!

The thirsty ___________ jumped onto a tourist’s motorbike in the Thai capital Bangkok and quickly drank the ___________.

As the monkey was only around 6 months old, the coffee was too much and, within ___________, he collapsed.

However, quick-thinking tourists raised the ___________ and a vet was quickly on the scene.

After giving him emergency ___________, the cheeky little monkey finally came around and was soon healthy enough to rejoin his ___________.

Two lessons learned for little monkey: don’t steal and certainly don’t drink coffee!
