The mission of Artios Academies is to assist parents in raising up students who are "fully equipped" for all that God has for them.  To be effective and successful in that mission, we must realize that God says it is Scripture that thoroughly equips.  This requires a new way of educating and a return to a Biblical philosophy of education.  Artios is indeed founded on a Biblical philosophy of education, and to many that will seem like a completely "new way of educating."   !Something about Artios caught your eye

and resonated with you,and that's why you have contacted us and expressed an interest in the programs designed and offered by Artios.  We welcome your interest and hope that the enclosed packet will answer many of your questions regarding bringing Artios to your area.  Artios can start with as few as 20 students or as many students as God brings your way.  As you read through the packet, I would encourage you to keep a pen and paper handy to write down questions as they come to your mind.  Once you have completed reviewing the information, we will be happy to set up a time to meet with you on the phone to answer those questions at your convenience. !We know that God will lead and direct in the start up of any new Artios programs around the country. We know that He will make the way clear when it is time to go forward and that He will also clearly shut the door if the time is not right.  We ask you to join us in prayer about the start of an Artios Academies campus in your area. !If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at [email protected], and I will be happy to answer any questions you have via email or by setting up a phone appointment.   I look forward to chatting with you in the near future, and I am excited to see what God has for you as we work together to raise our children to be “artios.” !Faith and Courage !Lori Lane

WHAT IS ARTIOS? Artios is known as the most creative and integrative approach to educating the whole-hearted child. Over the years, we’ve partnered with hundreds of parents to assist in guiding each student to his or her fullest potential in Christ.

We emphasize the development of a Biblical worldview from the youngest ages through high school, especially as it relates to cultural literacy in the arts, and we encourage awareness of how the arts have impacted society.

Because Truth is displayed throughout history in the form of art, events, people, leaders, and leading ideas, it is imperative to contextualize and consume these details, not as stratified subject matter, but as God intended -- seeing every historical milestone, personality, and ideology, as part of the greater story God is telling.

An Artios education equips students to compare and contrast all ideas and art forms either as Truth, or something that stands opposed to

Truth. !This knowledge frees students to reason, relate, discern, discuss, and express the Truth of Scripture, and in the process, realize it is shaping their character, building their confidence, and sharpening their conscience. !In that moment, true learning and true heart transformation take place, and it is inspiring and beautiful. !!

ARTIOS IS ART. ARTIOS IS HEART. ARTIOS IS SMART.

THE ARTIOS PROGRAM

Art Heart Smart

The Artios Academy of Arts and History is a once-a-week K– 12th grade program with integrated exposure and instruction, by time period, to music, theatre, art, history, worldview, literature, grammar, and composition. It is a “whole-child” approach to education intended to assist parents in raising students who are “artios”, fully-prepared.

Within its once-a-week class day, the Artios Academy of Arts and History teaches five core courses,  (history, literature/grammar, drama, art, and music). All five courses are integrated by historical time period. We teach these subjects in their entirety, which allows students not only to have knowledge of facts, but also to have knowledge of the principles and purpose of each subject.

We believe that Truth is displayed throughout history in the form of art, events, people, leaders, and leading ideas. It is imperative to contextualize and consume these details, not as stratified subject matter, but as God intended - seeing every historical milestone, personality, and ideology as part of the greater story God is telling. !An ARTIOS education equips students to compare and contrast all ideas and art forms as either Truth or something that stands opposed to Truth. This knowledge frees students to reason, relate, discern, discuss, and express the Truth of Scripture, and in the process, realize that it is shaping their character, building their confidence, and sharpening their conscience.

Elementary and middle school students are full of curiosity. They ask questions like, “Who? What? When? Where?” and of course, “WHY?” There are other educational philosophies that would have you believe that elementary students ought to be taught the “who,” “what,” and “where,” but to wait to teach the “why” until they are high school age. We believe that to wait is to miss hundreds of teachable moments! !An Artios education equips students to reason, relate, discern, discuss, and express truth from the very beginning, and that starts in our elementary and middle school programs. !In the ARTIOS elementary and middle school program students take five “core” classes. These classes Literature, History, Art, Music, and Drama. In addition to the Academy of Arts and History program, students can also enroll in optional math and science classes, as well as other Artios Plus Classes.

The thought of homeschooling through high school can be a bit intimidating to many parents. Bu truthfully, home schooling high school students is often a parents most joyful part of the homeschooling journey. Sure, parents may need some outside help with specific subjects, but that is why Artios exists to come along aside parents and assist in the home schooling journey. !When a student gets to high school, things begin to change. A high school student’s interests begin to be more focused, and they have a desire to go deeper into a certain subject. That is why the high school level of the Artios Academy of Arts and History no longer includes all the art classes. We know students are ready to be more focused in specific areas. High school students take four basic academic classes, history, literature, worldview, and an additional Artios Plus Class of their choosing. Math, Science and Foreign Language can also be added. For students who are very interested in the arts, we have developed the Artios Conservatory program.

The Artios Conservatory is an intensive practicum in music, theatre, film & video, worldview, and literary arts for High School students in 9th – 12th grade. !Students involved in the Conservatory program benefit from focused and specific classes in their chosen interest area as well as smaller class size, individual attention, coaching and mentoring.

Artios Conservatory offers a distinctive approach to the arts by requiring each student to participate in the Worldview and Arts History scope and sequence and by offering a broad approach to various arts disciplines. It is our desire to prepare students not only in their area of giftedness but also to help that student lay a firm Biblical and Christian worldview of the arts. Our minds should be filled with God’s ideas before interacting with the culture‚ thus enabling us to interact with the culture without accommodating the culture. This approach is what sets all Artios Academy programs apart from other arts programs and ensures a safe and appropriate environment for arts instruction.
