THANK YOU! Thank you for your many prayers for us through Allen’s battle with cancer and for the beautiful flowers sent in his memory. Although we have never met, knowing you were lifting us up in your prayers was a comfort through a difficult time. May God continue to bless you. Shelby Lewis A ‘Big Thank You” to the yard crew from the Fruit of the Spirit SS Class who provided TLC to our yard. We are also making a donation to the Youth Department in your honor. We appreciate you so much! Bob & Emma Lou Crenshaw I just can’t thank my church enough for being there for me all these years. I am so blessed and happy to be a part of a God loving church. I want to thank the group of members who gave oil changes and car services. I was a recipient of these services. I am very blessed! Theresa Koerner We can’t thank you enough! Your gesture of kindness is overwhelming. Thanking you with Christian love, Bill & Debbie Blair Barb and I would like to thank you for honoring our twenty years of service at Hillcrest. Your kind expressions of love, your words of encouragement, and your financial gift were a great encouragement to us. Every Pastor should have the opportunity to serve in a church like ours! We look forward to the future and continuing to serve beside you. We love you! Tom, Barb & family Thank you to the Middle School parents and others who provided meals for our son, Justin, & his family after returning home from the hospital with our second grandchild. Words can’t describe our gratitude, but please know that each of you played a big part in answered prayers from our faithful God! From our ohana (family) to yours, mahalo (thank you) for the love each of you displayed by being the church. Rob & Juls Harrison

Years ago, I went to a bicycle shop to purchase a new bike. When all was said and done I ended up with a mountain bike called the Genesis. I rode the bike everywhere I could for exercise purposes and was extremely proud of the bike until one comment changed my attitude. A lady in our church pulled up in our driveway one day and upon seeing my bike replied, “Brother Joe, What are you doing with a beginners bike?” I insisted it was not a beginner’s bike, but she argued it was because “Genesis,” she said, “Means beginning.” From that day forward I always felt like I was riding a beginner’s bike when I climbed on that bike. Would you believe that according to research nearly two-thirds of young people raised in the church are leaving the church by their college years? Ken Ham, of Answers in Genesis, is convinced it has a lot to do with how the church is handling the book of Genesis and comments concerning it. As the first book in the Bible, Genesis teaches us God’s creation, man’s fall and God’s work of redemption. It rarely receives as much attention as the book of Revelation, but starting August 10th on SUNDAY EVENINGS I will begin a study on Genesis. I want to encourage you to bring your Bible, a notebook and a pen as we learn how to defend the biblical teaching on the beginning. You ought to be proud of the lives that have been touched through Being the Church. Seeds have been planted and others watered. God has been and continues to bring in the harvest. Now is the time to solidify what you believe so that as Peter said, “But sanctify the Lord God in you hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear” (1 Pet. 3:15). Bless you church as you invest in God’s kingdom work! To God be the glory!

Thankful to be your pastor,

August 8, 2013 @ 6:30 - 10:30pm Fellowship Hall

This is what it is all about!

It is hard to realize that summer break from school is about to come to an end! So many incredible things have been happening. Mission Trips, Summer Camps, Being the Church, VBS and the list keeps on going! We have had a fast and busy summer, and God has surely blessed Hillcrest.

Sunday School attendance has been really strong all summer long. Our children have settled into their new classes, and our students are in the midst of starting their new classes. Two of our adult classes now meet at 8am to allow some flexibility with space, these classes are obviously made up of some really special people! A few more adult classes have been willing to change spaces to aid in some flexibility as well. I’m really proud of all these people.

I have heard my whole life “older people don’t like change.” I guess they don’t know the fabulous people at Hillcrest! There have been so many people willing to make some sacrifices and adjust to change to help us share the Gospel with as many people as possible. There just isn’t enough ways to say thank you for that kind of hearts.

If by chance, you and your family have not found your way to a Sunday School Class, we would love to have you start now. We have a place for everyone.

If you and your family have gotten out of the habit of being in Sunday School, now is the perfect time to come back.

Most of all we want to minister along with your family. Hillcrest is an amazing church, but that is because YOU are what makes up our wonderful fellowship. Come and join us Sunday, God has an incredible Word, just for you!

PS: Some Discipleship Classes are continuing for several more weeks, but we also have three new ones that begin August 13. Check the bulletin boards or our website for details.

Visitation will resume on August 4th.
