The ministry of SHC is funded entirely by the generous giving of God’s people. You will notice that we do not pass the offering plate; however, there are offering boxes in the back of the auditorium. We believe from the Word of God that the Spirit of God will lead people towards giving back to God of their first fruits. “...God loves a cheerful giver,” (2 Cor. 9:7). Please prayerfully consider what the Lord would have you do.

Our Purpose
Love God. Love Others. Reach The World.
“We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.” Colossians 1:28-29
The Triumphal Entry Matthew 21:1-11
Presented by
Pete Potloff
March 20, 2016
“From the time of Israel’s redemption from Egypt, the annual slaying of
the Passover Lamb had looked forward to the Lamb of God who, by His
sacrifice, would provide redemption for those in bondage to sin. The
Law required the Jews to observe the Passover Feast in Jerusalem, and
so Christ went there at the time of the feast. It was time for the event
that Christ had discussed with His disciples to be accomplished – that
event for which He had come into the world.”1
CONTEXT
• The Jewish Passover was near (John 11:55).
• Jesus was a wanted man (John 11:57).
• Anticipation to see Jesus continued to grow (John 11:56; 12:9).
• Jesus knew the time had come to hand Himself over to be crucified (Matthew
20:17-19).
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE TRIUMPHAL ENTRY
• Jesus demonstrates His omniscience (vv. 1-3).
• Jesus presents Himself as the Savior King (vv. 4-7).
• Jesus offers Himself as the perfect Lamb of God (vv. 8-11).
THE IMPACT OF CHRIST’S PRESENTATION
• This text presents Christ as King; the perfect, qualified sacrifice.
• This text serves as a reminder ... God’s ways are not our ways.
• This text highlights a proper response to the King.
UNASHAMED PRAISE
• “Hosanna” = “Save us now!”
• “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.”
• Recognized as royalty.
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION
• How is your praise?
