Project Information
Project summary:The General Services Administration submitted for preliminary approval an access roadway project associated with theSaint Elizabeths West Campus development. This project consists of the following:
• An Off-Site Access Road through Shepherd Parkway connecting to the previously approved and constructed On-SiteAccess Road and connecting to an improved I-295/Malcolm X Interchange;
• Two retaining walls support the Off-Site Access Road: The retaining wall along the eastern side (adjacent to ShepherdParkway) is designated RW-1 and the retaining wall along the western side (between NB I-295 and the Off-Site AccessRoad) is designated RW-2. These wall heights range from less than 5 feet to as tall as 20 feet.
• I-295 Malcolm X interchange improvements, inclusive of six new bridges, one existing bridge widening, and additionalretaining walls to accommodate access to the Off-Site Access Road. These wall heights range from less than 5 feet toup to 32 feet.
• 80% of the retaining walls are less than 15 feet. The other 20% are between 15 and 32 feet.• Landscape, lighting, signage, utilities and site work within the Limits of Disturbance (LOD) associated with the
construction of these Off-Site Transportation Improvements.• More than a mile long and• Requires a land transfer from NPS
