KidSummer Natural History Day Programs
Program: First Encounters Ages 3 & 4 • 9 am-Noon5-Day Session M-F $255M; $285NMThis course is designed to develop independence, encourage observation, and offer peer interaction. It will incorporate activities geared to this age level which foster a love of the natural world through adventures and explorations. Children must be toilet trained and have had their third birthday.
Ages 5-6 • 9 am-Noon5-Day Session M-F $255M; $285NMAn opportunity to develop a child’s science skills through games, stories, creative projects, experiments and lots of outdoor exploration. Each week is diverse enough to engage the child who comes multiple weeks or the entire summer!
Ages 7-8 • 9am – 2pmMonday – Friday weekly sessions; $320M $350NMExplore, Discover, Experiment!Projects and activities focus on our three ecosystems, the forest, marsh and beach and are designed to build strong foundations, for a wide range of natural history topics. Extensive, interactive investigations, indoors and out.
Program: Extreme ScienceAges 11-12 • 9am – 2pmMonday – Friday weekly sessions; $350M $380NMSerious science students will participate in a variety of interactive activities, inside and outdoors, incorporating biology, physiology, chemistry, physics and ecology. Live animal tank care, daily hikes, experiments, research and paddleboarding provide the basis for in depth exploration of nature and science.
Program: Junior NaturalistAges 13-15 • 9 am-3 pm Monday – Friday weekly sessions; $255M $285NMLimited to 8 students/week. This program is designed as part classroom, part practicum experience for middle school students, that counts as volunteer hours for school/community requirements. With a focus on science & biomimicry, students will use the Museum as a living classroom for science research opportunities, authentic aquarium activities, bird identification and guest services. The participants will care for the Mothapalooza Kiosk critters and provide information for the visitors. Hiking, teaching and special Museum events make up each week. The ideal participant has a high interest in extending his or her natural science knowledge and sharing their enthusiasm of the natural world with Museum visitors and younger KidSummer students.

Program: Eco Explorers
Ages 7-12 • 9 am-Noon, M-F • Available Weeks TBD$260M; $290NM (includes supplies) Limited to 10 students/week.Discover nature using pencil and paintbrush. Guided by a certified art teacher, students will explore the Museum’s spectacular vistas, abundant animal and plant life. Activities include sketching, painting and sculpting.
Program: KidSummer Art
Ages 7-12 • 9 am-Noon, M-F • Available Weeks TBD$260M; $290NM (includes binoculars & nest boxes) Limited to 10 students/week.Learn to identify native species of birds in their natural habitats surrounding the Museum. Introduction to skills & tools of birding, including naturalist guided walks, use of binoculars and field guides, care of nest boxes and conservation discussions.

Program: Terra Nova Ages 9-10 • 9am – 2pm Monday – Friday weekly sessions; $310M $330NMRamping up the Science of Nature!Students will actively engage in the study of Marine Biology & Cape Cod Ecology. Premium opportunities to explore outdoors, in the 400-acre environment surrounding the Museum & indoors in the Aquarium, exhibits and Butterfly House.

and the inter-related web of life, CCMNH taught biodiversity long before it became a widely recognized term. KidSummer programs focus on this important concept in age-appropriate ways, emphasizing biology, physiology, and ecology. Now through biomimicry, children will come away with an understanding of the relationships among plants, animals, insects, birds, and humans. Our Museum campus is surrounded by a unique outdoor laboratory – 400 acres of conservation land on Cape Cod Bay that encompasses upland woods, alewife brook, beech forest, salt marsh, barrier dunes, ocean beach, and tidal pools. Three trails wind through these habitats and a native wildflower garden. The programs combine outdoor exploration, STEAM based classroom projects and experiments.
