KIALLA CENTRAL PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Page 3

We hosted our Kialla Central Primary School House Athletics Carnival last

Friday. It was a fantastic day that was well supported by our parents, carers, family and friends. Our students all earnt points for their House. Results will be announced once our Age Champion Medallions are ordered and arrived. I would like to congratulate all of our students for their positive, have a go, sportsperson attitudes. Thanks to everyone for making our House Sports a successful day! Our East Goulburn Primary School Sports Association’s Athletics Carnival that was to be held on Friday 20th March has been postponed. This is due to the current Government directive regarding COVID-19. Friday will now be a normal school day with the bus and OSHC operating as per usual.

While we are talking about COVID-19, I will keep our school community updated through the K.C.P.S. Facebook page, our

newsletter and/or paper updates being sent home. At this stage, I have not received any information regarding school closures. Parents/carers can also check the Department of Education and Training website: https://education.vic.gov.au/about/department/Pages/coronavirus.aspx We are stressing more than ever, the importance of personal hygiene of everyone washing their hands with soap and drying hands: after using a tissue, going to the toilet, before eating and after sneezing into their elbows. There is also hand sanitiser in all of our classrooms. Thank you to our families who are keeping their child/ren at home who have flu like symptoms. There is no room for complacency with the rate COVID-19 can spread. Your cooperation is of utmost importance.

Last night we held our School Council Election of Office Bearers and

General Members followed by a March meeting. It is with great please I announce our 2020 School Council: Bob Scott (President), Nathan Carroll (Vice-President), Andrew Cowen (Treasurer), Nat Sheehan (Secretary), Robyn McCully, Alan Keat, Paul Tricarico and Tim Daws. Ashlea Baker is the staff representative and I hold the Executive Officer position as Principal.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank retiring School Councillor Peter Blake. Who has been on School Council since 2016. I would also like to acknowledge the effort of Robyn McCully who has been our Treasurer. Welcome to Andrew Cowen and Tim Daws for joining School Council. Tim was opted on to School Council after Alison Daws was no longer eligible to be a parent representative as she be-come a Department of Education and Training employee after nominations had closed. Our cur-rent School Council composition is 7x Parents, 2x DET Employees and 1x Community member. As a result, Alison being the newest DET employ-ee, and the fact that we already had 2 x other DET employee parents, could no longer be on School Council, at this point in time. Debbie Humphries Proud Principal of K.C.P.S.

IT’S BACK … K.C.P.S. Footy Tipping Competition 2020

Update from Magic Magpies

The AFL yesterday announced, a reduced season from 23 Rounds to 17 Rounds

due to COVID-19. The first 4 rounds will stay the same, with adjustments to be made

for the remaining rounds. At this stage, we haven’t discussed what this means for our

2020 K.C.P.S. Footy Tipping Competition, however, as long as footy is being played

our competition will go ahead.

Good luck tipping everyone under some very unusual conditions!

With all of the works we have done at school and the generosity of families who have

donated pavers they no longer needed, we have a stock pile of unwanted pavers. You

may be looking for pavers to finish areas at home or create new spaces.

We are seeking a donation to the school for these items.

There are approximately:

140 of a red/orange colour; and

430 of a grey coloured paver.

There are also some other bits and pieces including:

some besser bricks;

a data cabinet; and

an old steel cupboard.

If you are interested in any of the items please let Lisa or myself know by

Thursday 19th March.

SCOUT & SCHOOLS MONSTER RAFFLE

This year we are participating in the Scout & School Monster Raffle. Tickets

are $2.00 each, however, for every ticket we sell we get $1.50 donated to Kialla

Central.

Each family will be issued one book of 10 tickets to sell which means we will get $15.00

donated to us. I ordered 70 books to sell so if everyone does their part we could raise $1050

for K.C.P.S. with very little effort.

Extra books are available at the office, if you need them

Books (sold or unsold) and money are due back to school by Friday 30th April.
