KIALLA CENTRAL PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Page 3

We have had a great start to Term 3 with our students settling back into their school routines quickly.

Our Woorabinda Campers left yesterday at 7.00am from Bouchier Street Primary School and return back there on Friday at 4.15pm. I look forward to hearing about their adventures when they return to school. Next term, we run our Kialla Central Camps program. Camps are an important part of the curriculum . They provide a range of academic/social opportunities and activities for all students. This year’s Camps are as follows:

Tuesday 8th to Friday 11th October 5/6 ~ Wyuna Camp at Queenscliff with Kialla West

Approximate cost ~ $440 per student

Wednesday 23rd to Friday 25th October 3/4 ~ Alexandra Adventure Camp with Kialla West

Approximate cost ~ $250 per student

Thursday 7th & Friday 8th November F/1/2 Camp program at Kialla Central

Grade 2 sleepover Cost ~ $10 per student

While we try our best to keep the cost of our camps down, they have become quite expensive for various reasons such as: standards, requirements, qualifications of staff taking activities, transport costs etc. I encourage all families to take advantage of our payment system we offer at K.C.P.S. Families can make regular payments to avoid having to pay for camp in one lump sum. Please see Lisa if you are interested in this option.

An updated Student Dress Code Policy has been ratified by School Council and has

replaced our previous uniform policy. I encourage all families to visit our school website to familiarise yourself with this document and school expectations or pick up a copy from the office. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.

Kialla Central Primary School is registered as a Lids4Kids collection point for plastic lids from milk, juice, water and

soft drink bottles. They are recycled to make prosthetic hands for kids. A collection box will be in the office entry area. Thanks Mrs Irwin for finding this project for our school community to help. Junior School Council are organising a Jump Rope for Heart Jump Off Day. Miss Baker is incorporating skipping activities into her Phys Ed program in preparation for our Jump Off Day on Friday 23rd August from 12.30pm to 1.30pm. Attached is information for families to donate to the Heart Foundation which is a very worthy cause.

Our major fundraiser for the year is approaching quickly. On Friday 9th August we are hosting our 3rd Bogan Bingo and

Trivia Night at the Kialla District Hall. Raffle tickets were sent home last week to each of our families. Please ensure your book and money is returned to school by this event. Extra books are available at the office if you would like some more. Books are $20 each and we have 52 families, so if every family sells a book then we make $1,040 profit from the raffle alone. Further information is in this newsletter. Debbie Humphries Proud Principal of KCPS

REMINDERS Outside School Hours Care please book in advance to ensure there is a place available. Our license is for a maximum of 19 students. There are a couple of nights where our maximum number is being reached. A 2019 enrolment form is required to be returned before your child attends. Do you need to update your family details at the office?

Kialla Central Primary School’s Bogan Bingo &Trivia Night 2019

Seeking Prizes and Donations

We are seeking donations to be used as prizes and auction items at our Bogan Bingo & Trivia Night, which is our major fundraiser for this year. We

are hoping that our families might be able to help with this!

Do you know of anyone or a business who is able to donate?

If so, please let the office know. A letter from the school is also available to verify our fundraising event.

Funds raised will go towards upgrading our eating area and some new

resources for our students.

We thank you for your support! Special thanks to our families who have already donated.

K.C.P.S. Footy Tipping Competition 2019 Talking Footy with Magic Magpies

Round 18 Wrap

Round 18 saw a number of upsets that had an impact on most tippers results this week.

The best tipping was 7 by 2 tippers, 22 tippers picking 5 and a special mention to

Wongy;s Magpies who managed only 1 winner.

On Friday night Adelaide hosted the Bombers at home. The Bombers ran over the top of

the Crows in the second half to record a 21 point win. Bomber 10 was keen to let me

know how good her Bombers played, despite being conflicted with supporting Alex Keath

who created a few problems for the Bombers forwards.

Footy Tipping Stars of the Week ~ for Round 18 ~ Deescraceful and Greymouse tipped

7!, there were 8 tippers who picked 6 winners and 22 tippers picked 5 winners!

Footy Tipping Ladder Leaders ~ at the completion of Round 18: Narkle regained the

lead this week with 102 correct tips, Angus Kerr and Pie Time are 1 off the pace on 101,

closely followed by Fairy Princess on 100. on 94 Matt & Cassie S, The Old Don & Tom

Will Do are on 94, then on 91 is Amy Howard, Bomber 10, Hot Wheels, Little Bomber,

Tiger Cates & Two Tigers.

Jackpot is a very enticing $225.00 for Round 19!

I think Friday night’s game between the Magpies and Tigers will

determine if the Jackpot goes off!

Good luck tippers!
