Mwari’s Taste Kitchen

Mwari Magazine has a wonderful Taste Editor and an all-star line-up of guest contributors to the section. Our team believes in keeping readers engaged with every aspect of the magazine and therefore the Taste Kitchen has evolved. As we develop each issue we will invite up to 20 readers to a seated business-style dinner where they will sample each dish discussed in the magazine. When possible, we will have the meal prepared before their eyes to show the simplic-ity of the dishes. Additionally, we will ask for their feedback and they will feel part of our editorial process.

We chose to host a business-style dinner to expose readers to a style of dining they will experi-ence once they enter the work force. We understand not everyone grew up attending this kind of affair and therefore this will be an environment where guests can learn proper etiquette. Addi-tionally, readers will have the opportunity to get to know others in their community and discuss what they would like to see in Mwari.

This is a great opportunity for your company to present itself to a captive audience. The taste kitchens are ideal for food, beverage, houseware and home decor brands because readers will interact with the products directly. Cafe 2011

This summer Mwari Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Maci Peterson, has been invited to speak to the teens of the Midwestern Region of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. about social networks during the annual teen conference. At the end of the convention graduated seniors are celebrated and wel-comed into adulthood during a debutante-like gala. Mwari Magazine will welcome these new grad-uates into the business area of this new stage of their lives in Cafe 2011, a networking reception with business leaders within Jack & Jill and the Oakland County community. The purpose of this event is to give these high school graduates exposure to the business world they will encoun-ter during college and beyond. Additionally, it will give them an opportunity to meet future men-tors and employers as well as create more memories with one another. Mwari Magazine and your brands will create a cafe environment that simulates the happy hours that occur in the business world, but is still conducive to meaningful conversation. Additionally, this is an opportunity for these readers to experience your company and meet its executives and representatives.

Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is a social organization for mothers of children aged 2-19. The pur-pose is to develop leadership skills, social networks, cultural appreciation, a heart for commu-nity service, civic involvement and fundraising skills in the children.

Homecoming Tailgate Lounge

Homecoming is an exciting time of the year for college students and alumni. Alumni have a chance to reminisce and create new memories with old friends and students have an opportunity to relax, indulge in school spirit and get to know some of their school’s prominent alumni. Often, it is hard to find a comfortable place to relax and catch-up and thus Mwari Magazine has developed spaces to sit an relax during the tailgates. Beginning this fall we will host Homecoming Tailgate Lounges at Northwestern University, Spelman College, Howard University, Chapman University, Tennessee State University and University of Maryland that will feature couches, a bar serv-ing non-alcoholic beverages, food, televisions to watch the game, photos from other tailgate lounges and a live DJ. The Tuxedo Ball After Party

The Tuxedo Ball is a weekend of socializing and networking that grew from a need to keep privi-leged black children connected after integration. Prominent black families from across the coun-try attend the weekend of events that also includes workshops, motivational seminars and of course the ball. The ball is held annually at the Omni Shoreham. Last year Mwari Magazine hosted its first official Tuxedo Ball after party for attendees aged 21-40 at L2 Lounge and it was a huge success. Guests had the opportunity to relax in the private members-only club and get to know one another in a less formal setting.
