The master head is the abbreviation of rolling stone, this adds a modern touch to the magazine in which its keeping up with the times, there’s also a issue number next to it, this is a new aspect that I have noticed in comparison to the pervious contents pages.

The theme is different to the front cover, it has a sliver, white, red and black theme. The silver connotes well to the hip hop genre of this article

There’s a slogan underneath the master head to elaborate the purpose of a contents page

Callouts/or pull quotes are used to entice the reader in and give an insight and personality to the cover story

I find it interesting how the cover story is elaborated on the contents page, think this is a very good feature to entice the reader further in.

The overall layout is simplistic and slick this connotes the hip hop genre

The overall theme is very simplistic with gold, white and black, this connotes the “mod/ indie rock” genre in which it is striking yet simple. The gold and black work well together in which the black writing stands proud and shows importance over the gold.

The masterhead simply says “mojo” using the logo of the brand, which makes a clean and sharp statement

Underneath the masterhead the cities that the magazine is popular in are stated, this is a new feature I have came across and I find it very unique and a way of promoting the magazine’s legacy.

The central image is very bold and stands proud amongst the rest of the contents, it creates an iconography of the indie rock/ mod aspect and further pronounces the genre of the magazine .

A callout is used to give extra information on an article

The central image is a different colour to the text, in which it stand out even more.

A callout is used to title the article and gives an insight into the interview giving the opinion of white lies and works as a strong starting quote that sums up the article as a whole.

The central image stands strong to give an insight into the band, as it shows personality and the dark colours connote the genre and music they make.

The purple and black simple layout connotes the rock and roll theme, as purple and black are seen as colours of rock and roll

There is a hanging a indent at the start of the paragraph

A band is used an example and is quoted in the title

The overall theme of this DPS is very simple as the whole thing is in black and white including the image of Florence, this is a creates a very milimenistic and fashionable style, I feel this is the style spin magazine like to create and it is seen as their house style to be simple and stylish.

This image is striking and shows personality as her hair is wild this connotes that she has a wild and free spirited . Her facial expression is unusual it represents a state of fun as well as shock.

The T is circled and outline making it more visible and elaborating the start of the interview

Q’s DPS features the same artist but portrays her in a very different light, the layout, as bright colours are being used as the artist is dressed in dramatic and seductive clothes, she is sitting in a confident and alluring pose.

The house colour scheme is cleverly carried on in the image, wish flashes of red used along with the models hair being red and she is dressed in black.

A play on words is used with the heading”usa got the love” this refers to her single you’ve got the love and is a clever way to put forwards the article, will consider this for my dps

The D is emphasised and in a different font

Page 17: Deconstrucution of magazine's

Rollingstones dps is also very simple with it’s layout as i feel its focus is to focus the attention on the article and not the layout.

This story is slanted as showin in the pull quote it declares about Katy taking drugs which is deemed as popular culture to it’s target audience of 18-24 year olds.

The picture is seductive and sexy in which it lures in it’s male reads, as she is barely clothed and enticing the reader with her eyes, ironically she is in the kitchen tis approve to laura mulveys male gaze. This image is classic to a lads mag style picture in which the women is seen as a subject of lust

Page 18: Deconstrucution of magazine's

The image is stark and simple which is suitable and the artist in the picture is an interesting and intriguing character to look the use of added flamboyancy isn’t needed

Has an overview on the artist explain their circumstances and giving a personal insight into their life.

The overall layout is very simple and stark this related to mojo’s mod and hipster reputation in which it is fashionable in a subtle and classy way

Has an insert of information mid paragraph to add more information in an interesting way also known as a (flash)

The overall colour scheme is black, white and blue, which are very calm and cool colours
