MYSTERY SYNOPSIS
The historical Anonville Manor closed for business years ago because of a desperate need for restoration and daft rumors of ghost hauntings. The previous owners abandoned the rundown property, never turning back.
A secretive entrepreneur purchased the old bed & breakfast. The property has undergone renovations, and the owner announced to the media that the manor is free of paranormal activity, and has been restored to the pristine caliber of the good ole’ days when the estate was frequented by the rich and famous. The proprietor has chosen to remain anonymous, but the townsfolk have found that choice to be quite mysterious. An exclusive group of guests have received invitations to the grand opening dinner party to be held in the legendary Majestic Promenade Ballroom of the estate. You are on the guest list. You are intrigued, but apprehensive, as not everybody on the invite list gets along well, and sparks could fly. This is where your story begins.

Peace Corps volunteers!
Business suit with obnoxious tie. Fake business cards as
optional props.
KARA TINN Hairstylist
Optional Female
Don’t bother bringing a picture of a hairstyle, because if you sit in Kara’s salon chair, you’re getting her signature style. Kara’s cut is outdated by nearly sixty years, and all of her clients look identical. This retro-loving hair diva has

Trendy attire with a California flare – vintage
casual.

Thank you for purchasing ‘Murder at Anonville Manor: A Dinner Party to Die for’ game from mymysteryparty.com! This mystery is a moderate sleuthing mystery that allows you and your guests to step into a different character while trying to solve the entertaining and slightly challenging mystery. The party can be a huge success as long as you and your guests relax and let the mystery unravel during each round. PREPARING YOUR KIT: This file needs to be printed in advance of the party. Cut out the clue cards, and slip them into envelopes labeled with the appropriate round and character for each round of the party. It is optimal to choose different colored envelopes for each round and you can purchase the exact amount needed for your game on the http://mymysteryparty.com/props/ site in the Mystery Prop Emporium section. For economy’s sake, an alternative is to scroll the clues and fasten with a ribbon. Be sure to label the outside of each scroll with the character/round. We demonstrate how to do this in our instructional videos at www.mymysteryparty.com/videos In these instructions, however, we will assume you are using the envelope method for each character, each round. Also, if you do not want to print the entire file, you don’t have to – you just need to print the materials for the game (i.e. everything besides the instructions and answer key).

GAME STRUCTURE: The game is organized into four rounds and is structured as follows: these optional pre-game tasks are to be delivered to each guest before the party or
give them to the guests as they arrive. All pre-game materials are optional and do not alter the mystery. They are intended to enhance the pre-game build up for the event. These tasks are not vital to solving the mystery and omission of them does not alter the mystery in any way. Also, encourage your guests to view the Your Mystery Party - www.yourmysteryparty.com/anonville website to get them excited about your game (this has shown to decrease the amount of no-shows to your party). We highly encourage you to take advantage of this free perk of your mystery game experience.
Deliver these clues as your guests arrive. Deliver these clues while you serve dinner (optional) to your guests.
Deliver these clues with coffee/hot cocoa and dessert.
Note: you do NOT have to serve dinner, this is only suggested and the instructions tell you ‘when’ to serve it and what to do around the time you serve it. You also do not have to serve dessert – again, it is only a suggestion. You can simply skip both without a problem and just serve snacks/appetizers the entire time.

ASSIGNING CHARACTERS: you assign the character roles – do not send your guests the invites or link to the guest pre-game site and have them choose their characters. This is far too much work, confusing for everyone, and nearly impossible for them all to choose a separate character and fill in your required player spots. You assign the players from the host character list in this file. First, fill in your required spots with your most outgoing and dependable players. Then, use the optional players in any combination. They won’t know they were optional, so no worries. If you have time, it’s great to send a ‘save the date’ email/card at least a month prior to your party. That way, you can see if your intended date will work for you to have enough players. No time for that? No problem! Just text your closest invitees and ensure they’re able to attend, so you can assign them to a required player. If you are hosting this for an event and will not be familiar with the guests, you will likely have enough players to play, so this is a moot point.

Round one – cocktail hour begins as the guests arrive - for teen groups - it’s just an appetizer hour. DÉCOR: Create an old haunted hotel ballroom ambiance with classical music playing softly, low level lighting and formal, Gothic or Victorian décor in the party room. Optional: make a DVD of pictures of you and your guests to play like a slideshow during your party on the television (if there is one in the room). If you’re good at Adobe Photoshop - why not make some of your guests’ pictures into their designated character’s

ACCUSATIONS: after you collect the mystery investigation sheets, allow the guests to one-by-one accuse who they believe the murderer is and how they did it. Instruct them also to tell the group their guess of the murderer‘s motive. If you are having an awards ceremony using the awards certificates available on the My Mystery Party site in the mystery props section, you can use this round as the final decision maker on the best actor/actress award.

The game can be shortened by excluding the optional activities, or lengthened by adding more bonus games.
7:00 PM: Guests arrive, have their pictures made (optional) and receive a refreshment / cocktail for adults. The guests will view the guest instructions and invited guest list while they wait for everybody to arrive. The host should build in at least a 10 minute cushion for guests to arrive late. Hey, it happens.
7:10 PM: The host reads the guest instructions to the group. It is optional to have each guest introduce their character in front of the group. Play the video game trailer on Your Mystery Party for your game &/or read the game synopsis from Your Mystery Party to the group to give the premise.
7:20 PM: The Round One envelopes are handed out and the game begins with the riddle challenge ice-breaker. Then, the guests mingle and reveal the clues on their clue cards. Just like a normal party, but the guests remain in character and gossip about each other. The motives & story lines will start to unveil.
7:50 PM: An optional bonus game is played. Bonus activities keep the energy flowing and the guests have a blast. They are optional, but highly suggested. The players must remain in character.
8:05 PM: Optional to serve dinner. Dinner can be sit down or buffet – or even as simple as a pizza that’s delivered! You can also just serve appetizers/snacks during the party.
8:35 PM: The Round Two envelopes are handed out to the guests and pre-murder clues are discussed.
8:55 PM: The victim becomes the victim and the host passes out the investigation sheets to the players. The guests interrogate each other to determine whodunit. The full story is in the player clue cards, but the guests will have to be skilled at asking the right questions of each other, etc.
9:10 PM: Host calls time and within ~5-10 minutes, everybody submits a guess of whodunit.
9:20 PM: Optional accusation round – the guests can take turns formally accusing who they think did it, and why. You’ll be surprised at how everybody’s inner actor will surface during this activity.
9:30 PM: Dessert and coffee (optional) are served and the Round Three envelopes are handed out to the guests. The guests sit in a circle and one-by-one, the solutions are revealed by each of the guests, and the murderer will confess at the conclusion of the round. The murderer is notified in their round three solution card that they are the murderer. They will not know or have any advantage over anybody of knowing whodunit before this round. *If you do not opt to have the optional players read their final solutions in front of the group, give them a few minutes to mingle and share their solutions after the murderer confesses.
9:50 PM: An optional bonus game is played.
10:10 PM: An optional award ceremony. My Mystery Party has award certificates and ribbons of all kinds that you can purchase in the Prop Emporium. The host can determine who receives the awards while the bonus game is being played. Some award certificates are traditional and some are snarky but hilarious!
10:30 PM: Game over!

OPTIONAL PRE-GAME TASKS:
Character P OPTIONAL - for some pre-party fun, contact the following guests. Contact the guest playing Character S and say you saw him giving a speech on television the other night about public safety, and he appeared anxious. He’s a great public speaker, and shouldn’t be so nervous. There are wonderful self-help seminars at Anonville University, and he should look into them. (Contact info:______________________________) Contact the guest playing Character L say you heard Character D was quitting the bakery. Ask if he’s heard anything about this. If this is true, it is dreadful – many people are hooked on her calorie-free cupcakes! (Contact info:______________________________) Contact the guest playing Character R and say you’ve always been a fan of his/her quality of meat, but lately, the meat doesn’t seem as fresh. (Contact info:______________________________)
Each player will have pre-game task card in the purchased game. Do not read if you want to keep the
surprise. Names have been

ROUND ONE
Each player will have a round one card in the purchased game. Do not read if you want to keep the
surprise. Names have been
removed to minimize spoilers
Character D ROUND ONE
CLUES TO REVEAL: Talk about how your job is the most difficult of anybody
in this room. You have to keep the wildest celebrity out of trouble and out of the trash tabloids. It is nearly impossible. She is from Anonville, but moved away when she was 18 years old. She returns to visit quite often, however. You are always with her. Character V has recently broken ties with many people in town, such as her tailor, her hairstylist, and her attorney (see below).
Character R, her former attorney, was supposed to get the most recent DWI charge dropped against her, but he failed. He is a crappy attorney. You don’t care that he got all other charges over the years dropped – he was paid to get the most recent DWI dropped as well and he did not.
You advised Character G not to attend this party, but she had nothing else on her schedule, so she came. You can’t keep her home for one day.
CLUES TO CONCEAL: You are single. Keeping Character B in a positive light
consumes all of your time. You cannot stand Character O. Her family pays you
well as her publicist, but you feel like her peasant. She even calls you a peasant!
Copyright © mymysteryparty.com Page 16
ROUND TWO Character P - ROUND TWO
PRE-MURDER: You should inquire about the rumor of Character G
changing professions. Why would he do that? He is a neurosurgeon and the best doc in Anonville.
You should ask Character B why he is thinking about changing careers from a tailor to a scientist! Big switch!
POST-MURDER: You can recall that The Library was next to The
Kitchen. Ask others to see what they can remember about the arrangement of the first floor of the manor. Since you cannot leave The Ballroom, you’ve got to figure out where the victim was murdered before you can figure out whodunit and with what weapon!
There are far too many spoilers in this clue – so we removed.
You saw a lead pipe in The Conservatory earlier. That could be a potential murder weapon. Ask around to see what others think about the weapon.
PERSONAL CLUES: If you were to murder someone, you would definitely
beat them with anything you could grab in the room. You are so excited a murder occurred. You will be first
to scoop every detail of the case! Take good notes!
Each player will have a round two card in the purchased game. Do not read if you want to keep the
surprise. Names have been
removed to minimize spoilers

ROUND THREE SOLUTION CARDS Do not view these cards if you wish to keep the murderer a surprise.
CHARACTER G
READ WHEN YOU ARE TOLD IT IS YOUR TURN
I was Character I’s attorney for many years. I got him/her off many charges of driving under the
influence, public intoxication, loitering, you name it---I wiped the criminal slate clean. That is, until the third DWI charge in Anonville. The Chief made hundreds of calls to everyone within miles to make the charge on London stick. The judge was far too pressured, and for the first time, he and the District Attorney decided to prosecute. Then, I got the axe. I was
upset with Character I, as s/he didn’t appreciate all of the good deeds I’d done. Nonetheless, I always
hoped to get Character I back as a client. Character I being dead doesn’t help my bank account. Not guilty.
