MUCHIN COLLEGE PREP CAMPUS OVERVIEW Muchin College Prep opened in August of 2009 on the 7th floor of a high-rise building in the middle of Chicago’s downtown. Our scholars engage in a rigorous curriculum that prepares them for success in college and beyond. In addition to our rigorous curriculum, we focus on character education. Our scholars are expected to be ambassadors inside and outside of school. We expect our scholars to seamlessly transition into the career of their choosing as they grow into adulthood. We are devoted to teaching our scholars integrity and professionalism. Our main goal is to prepare all scholars to graduate from the college of their choice and to go on to lead productive lives. Now, in our seventh year of operation, we are currently supporting four high school classes and three classes of college students. Our founding class of 2013 is entering its junior year in college. Our current seniors, the class of 2016, are ranked third on the ACT among non- selective high schools in the city of Chicago. MCP STUDENT BODY MUCHIN COLLEGE PREP 1 N. TRANSCRIPT INFORMATION Our academic calendar is divided into two semesters. Official grades are reported in January and June. Scholars are required to pass all of their courses before being promoted to the next grade. Core classes are 70 minutes long and meet daily—these courses are worth 1 credit per semester. Non-core classes meet for 70 minutes every other day and are awarded 0.5 credits. For pass/fail classes, scholars above 90% pass the course, and those at and below 89% receive an F and do not receive credit.

OPEN ADMISSIONS Muchin College Prep is a public, non-selective high school open to all scholars who graduate from 8th grade and reside within the city limits. No tuition or examination is required. This past year, over 1,500 scholars applied for 250 seats to be part of our class of 2019, and seats were given based on an open lottery system.

PHYSICAL FITNESS Scholars must pass a physical fitness test in order to graduate. This includes push-ups, curl-ups, and the mile. Scholars must pass all three tests, as well as a written health and fitness exam.

AFTER-SCHOOL ENRICHMENT Muchin develops well-rounded scholars who are involved in enriching experiences outside the school day and during the summer. Scholars receive enrichment credit during the school year playing sports and participating in on-campus enrichment opportunities like Chess, Robotics, SLAM Poetry, GayStraight Alliance, National Honors Society, Green Team, and Rube Goldberg. In the summer, many of our scholars study on college campuses during our sophomore program called “Summer of a Lifetime”.

COMMUNITY SERVICE In order to teach civic responsibility and strengthen our communities, scholars at Muchin complete 100 hours of service at approved sites throughout the city during their four years in high school.
