What flavor is your cloud?
On-Premise/Internal
Hybrid Cloud
Private Cloud Public Cloud
Hosted Private Cloud
Public Cloud
Public –Applications and storage offered over the public internet and available to anyone that wants to purchase the service.
Office 365, Dynamics 365 –CE (Customer Engagement), Dynamics 365- BC (Business Central), Dynamics 365 F&O (Finance and Operations), One Drive – All examples of Public Cloud
Public Cloud is True SAAS – Software as a Service –You don’t load software – you just log into an application
What is SaaS?
Software as a Service
You do not own the software
You pay a monthly fee
Browser Access onlyThe vendor takes care of all updates, upgrades, etc.
You do not need a host or a server
Private Cloud (Hosting)
Cloud provider houses and manages the installation, upgrades and user configurations of the GP, CRM or other applications. Recommend Azure for this.• Azure is Microsoft servers that you subscribe to on a monthly basis• Backups are typically part of the bundle
You can take the GP software you own and move it to “the cloud”
• You can move all ISVs, and customizations
You do not have to maintain a server on Premise
You will log into the server using Remote Desktop, RD Web, or Web Services
Hybrid Cloud – Cloud Sync
Some of your data is on Premise
Some of your data is in the cloud
Example – GP utilizing Intelligent Edge
GP can be on Premise or HostedIntelligent Edge replicates GP Data to the cloud into Business CentralGet the advantage of utilizing new technology• Artificial Intelligence• Power Apps• Multiple Device Access
What are the mechanics of Hosting?
Utilize Azure for servers Load your software on a cloud
server Pay monthly fee for server and
backups You have redundancy Pay monthly fee for RDP
access and SQL Expand Server capacity as
needed Pay annual enhancement fee
for GP and ISV products
Remote Desktop – you are on a separate desktop
RD Web Access – You are on your own desktop
GP Web Client

Cloud Sync –Intelligent Cloud
Option to allow you to keep GP on Premise or Hosted

Sync to Intelligent Edge in the Public Cloud
Must be on GP 2018R2
Phase 2 Replication – Historical DataS ales OrdersPurchase OrdersInventory
Intelligent Cloud Management
System allows you to manually replicate

It is a new system to learn
New development from Microsoft will be on BC
Timing
