With the recent announcement of Her Majesty's MostLoyal Opposition, and Her Majesty's Government, camethe death of the so called “Nationalist Coalition” of Van­UKIP­Plaid­Rorytime. This was a great upset to all butone of the members. Former Speaker, Rorytime,abandoned his comrades, in the final hour, in favour ofthe centre­left Government. This treachery can beattributed to the Government’s resentment of theprospect of The Vanguard participation in, much lessleading, the official opposition. This resentment can beobserved in their branding the coalition as the “meme”coalition, and repeated attacks against severalVanguardian member’s ideology and person. They fulfilledthis resentment and hate by cajoling Rory to their side,with false promises of legislative change. So unusuallydoes the fate of a coalition rest upon one man; however,because of this treachery the “true” right shall neverforgive him. “And throwing down the pieces of silver intothe temple, he [Judas] departed” Matthew 27:5

Corbyn’s election, the Pirates succeeded in securing a disproportionately high influence in the new government,theLibDems under the Georgist /u/bnzss have a keen eye for social justice, and the Greens and Radical Socialists ­despitetheir reduced numbers­ are active and committed to their social mission.Moreover, there is a pleasant surprise in the new Parliament. Despite our past disagreements, it is hard not torecognize that the Vanguard is making genuine progress in presenting progressive legislation. Differences are still thereand the left and the Vanguard share deep disagreements on immigration, the monarchy and Britain’s role in the world.Still, we hope agreements can be reached on a case by case basis. In this spirit, the present issue contains two shortarticles written by a Vanguard member. We do not fully endorse their content, but this is a sign of our hope that betterdays will come for the progressively minded forces of MHOC.

What made you choose the Pirates among all otherMHOC parties?I helped to found the party, the Pirate Party offers a lot offreedom in its policies ­ we are focused mainly on thingssuch as civil liberties, internet freedoms and the freedomof information. I am personally a big fan of all thosethings and in the new parliament I would  naturally like topush for a lot of them. One of the areas where ownershipof property is concentrated is copyright laws. There is anartificial monopoly over software. I would encourageinstead the use of Free and Open Software.The Pirate Party is the party which I'm most suited to onMHOC for the moment. What makes you think a simulated Stormont would be agood idea, especially given many other governmentsimulations suffer from low participation?A model Stormont could work well and be kept active. Ofcourse it would face some difficulties but for MHOC Ithink it is an interesting idea and I'd love to see onecreated. In ModelUSGov there are various stategovernments, which are reasonably active. I wouldsupport legislation in a Model Stormont that MLAs whohave not commented in for example two weeks lose theirseat, this would ensure that the model assembly remainsactive. What did you think about the MHOC bill on same sexmarriage in Northern Ireland?The bill was very short and very direct. I personally hadhesitations about it. I thought it did not seem fair toimpose same sex marriage on Northern Ireland, especiallysince it is traditionally seen as one of the mostconservative areas of the United Kingdom. I would haveprefered if a referendum was held on the issue, much likethe RL referendum in the Republic of Ireland. Thisreferendum could have been just for those with NorthernIrish IPs or who voted in Northern Ireland during aprevious election.

"a Protestant state for a Protestant people". We of courseneed to focus on peace, but I as a nationalist do not seethe Good Friday Agreement (GFA) as the correct solutionto a lasting peace or a United Ireland. I espouse instead  apolicy similar to the Éire Nua policy proposed by Ruairí ÓBradaigh, this would mean a thirty­two county federalIreland divided into four federal regions each with its ownparliament based on the historical provinces of Ireland. Inthis new Ireland Ulster would now be its traditional ninecounties instead of the current six county state, in thisthe Unionist/Protestant population would have a slimmajority of approximately 51%, the Nationalist/Catholicpopulation would be around 49%. This would allow forUnionists to still hold power but not so much of amajority that there would be no hope of a nationalistgovernment forming. This would mean that thecommunities would have to work together. It is a muchmore natural system than the artificial power­sharingsystem that we have today in Northern Ireland.In conclusion, I think that Northern Ireland's troubles liein the very foundations of the state and only radicalchange can lead to a lasting, genuine peace. Would you be in favour of the revival of the Parliamentof Northern Ireland?I think that the recent problems with Stormont andUnionists walking out was an inevitability. The politics ofNorthern Ireland is very tribal in its nature but that is justthe circumstances of a state like Northern Irelandexisting, with two groups with ideas which are at oddswith each other a political climate like this wouldobviously develop. As I said I think that the real lifeStormont parliament is very hard to run smoothly, this allgoes back to root problems within the state of NorthernIreland. What attracted you to distributism?Many may not know that I am very fond of distributism.My ideology has changed a lot since entering MHOC, Ifeel this is because I have been exposed to differingopinions whereas previous I had an ignorant perceptionthat "Left = Good, Right = Bad". I feel I have learned a lotabout different ideas and that my opinions have changedquite a lot or some issues which used to mean a lot to memean considerably less to me than they would have ayear ago. It was hard to find an ideology which I felt "thisone is for me" and in many ways I still have not howeverThe distributist economic system is an equal yet notradical or ineffective one, it focuses on localism in manyways. The family as the core unit of society is respectedand promoted in the social parts of the distributistdoctrine, society's positive influence in people's lives isalso stressed. I read more about the ideology and I feelthat I agree with many parts of it but I do not agree withabsolutely everything.

What do you think are the reasons that Northern Irelandremains one of the most troubled parts of the UK?Partition is the obvious and prime reason for thetroublesome and delicate situation in Northern Ireland.Northern Ireland's creation was sectarian and not oneIrish person voted for it (no Irish MPs voted for partitionin the Government of Ireland Act 1920). The origins ofthe state of Northern Ireland are  rooted in sectarianismwhich makes peace difficult; it was described as

Several weeks ago, the first piece of legislation from The Vanguard was submitted to The House floor for a first reading. Thisinaugural legislation for The Vanguard, for that parliament, was dubbed “The National Nuclear Bill.” Composed by theVanguard Press Secretary, the bill was riddled with mathematical errors, grammatical mistakes, and several complications,which made it un­passable in its proposed state. In response to these momentous errors, a committee was created to editand critique this bill. This committee, The Nuclear Committee, set out on its difficult task on September 29th, and thus anMHoC Committee was born. Over the course of a week seven different amendments were put forth to the Committee, andafter the dust settled five were added to the legislation. As well as those five, several grammatical and formatting mistakeswere fixed. After several weeks of critiquing and a slight majority vote on the committee’s contentment of the bill, manymembers of the Committee are ready for a poly­partisan bill to go to the House Floor. This formation and scrutinisation ofthis committee demonstrates a renewed initiative from The Vanguard to produce and pass poly­partisan legislation, whichhopefully will lead to a greater respect to a party which has been branded a “meme” party. “God created all people, andcreated them differently for reasons and purpose we may not understand. Regardless of how we perceive other people to be,they are God's creations, and it God's will for us to show respect to everyone” Matthew 7:12

The recent Vanguard defector Rlack recently asked on the MHOC subreddit “What makes fascists disgusting people?”. Welllooking past the difficulty of defining Fascism, there are obvious holes in simply trying to glorify your people. Nothing is everas binary as having a good and a bad side. And I don’t think cultures should be compared that way, for how do we know whatis good and what isn’t? I think most arguments in favour of Fascism point to how good Nazi Germany was before the wars. Sure, they managed totackle unemployment, but that was simply achieved by building an arms industry. And of course back then if you weren’t seenas one of the “good guys”, it was all over for you. That’s essentially how Fascism works, the movement creates a commonenemy. However that should under no circumstances be the job of the state in my opinion. The state should at all times try toimprove the quality of life of it’s citizens, no matter where they’re from, what they look like, what languages they speak oranything like that! If you try to point at the left and say “Hey! Those guys are basically Fascists! Stalin killed lots of people who he didn’t like!”your ideas can easily be dismissed. If we’re comparing the best of both ideologies, let’s take a look at the Nordic countries!High­ish taxes, but everything is better. Low mortality, high happiness, everything that actually matters in life is better. Andunlike in pre­war Nazi Germany, the economy isn’t based on trying to turn all of Europe into a tyranny. If somebody tries to defend the points I’ve made by saying, that they’re a Fascist and they don’t think any of it is right, thenguess what: You’re not a Fascist! It’s all fun and games to pretend, but Fascism is something to be dead afraid of. Have youheard about y Ron Jones’s experiment in the Ellwood P. Cubberley High School in Palo Alto California? He founded a Fascistmovement called “The Wave” to demonstrate to his 15 year old students how such a movement would form. It included asalute, a secret police force The movement quickly spiralled out of control. The fact is Fascism doesn't work. And I thinksooner or later people will have to realize that.
