Dear Parishioners and Friends,

To be honest, love is the most important of all the things in our life. It leads to understanding, harmony, unity and gives our life true meaning. We are s ll experiencing Advent. But soon the moment we are wai ng for will happen and because of this lets live this me stronger, and grow more and more impa ent for we are wai ng for the Lord. In a few days, Jesus will come to us as a ny, defenseless baby. Let us remember that this child has to bear the weight of the sins of the whole world on his shoulders. Thus is born a Savior who will bring us redemp on and deliver us to heaven. As we hear in today's readings: the one is coming, "that is to be ruler of Israel, whose origin is from the beginning." (Micah 5,1a). The one that is coming will not only become the King of Israel, but of the whole universe, a mighty man that will free us from tears, the anguish of cap vity, and "by which will we will be sanc fied through the offering of His body, Jesus Christ. Is it possible for one person to be able to free us from the burden of all sin? Let's try to reflect on the fact of our salva on, on our par cipa on in the blessing that St. Mary is a part of, becoming the mother of Jesus and at the same

On this fourth Sunday of Advent, lets move on from Advent to the final phase that will be our judgment day, and repeat a er St. Elizabeth "Blessed art thou who believed in the fulfillment of what was spoken to her by the Lord. "(Luke 1:45). Mother of God, surround us with your arms and through thy intercession ask your dear Son, to bring us His blessings and salva on. I invite all parishioners and friends to join us in the joyous celebra on of Christmas. A schedule of holiday reconcilia on and masses can be found in the bulle n and in le ers that were sent to you. Nothing cleanses our souls be er than being reconciled with God. When you go to the midnight mass or any other Christmas mass with a pure heart, you will feel the birth of Jesus in you. You will receive a great gi that you will be able to share with your family and those you meet with during Christmas. I pray for all of your inten ons and I ask that you pray for me. Please support your parish through prayer and offerings this Christmas. I am glad that I can serve you as pastor, and that we can jointly celebrate Christmas especially during the year of our parish entennial. Drodzy Parafianie i Przyjaciele.,

Mówiąc szczerze, w naszym całym życiu

najważniejsza jest miłość. To ona prowadzi do

zrozumienia, zgody, jedności i nadaje sens życiu.

Jesteśmy jeszcze w okresie oczekiwania, czyli

Adwentu. Ale już niedługo zdarzy się to, na co

czekamy – dlatego niech nasze oczekiwanie staje się

coraz silniejsze, gorętsze, bardziej niecierpliwe.

Już za kilka dni przyjdzie Pan Jezus jako malutkie,

bezbronne dziecko. Pamiętajmy, że to dziecko ma na swoich

barkach udźwignąć ciężar grzechów całego świata. A więc

narodzi się Zbawiciel, by nas wybawić od ciemności, uchronić

od wiecznego potępienia, utorować nam drogę, która,

zaplanowana przez Boga Ojca, ma jeden kierunek – niebo.

Jak słyszymy w czytaniach: przyjdzie „Ten, który

będzie władał w Izraelu, a pochodzenie Jego od początku, od

dni wieczności.” (Mi 5,1a). Nadchodzi Ten, który nie tylko

władać będzie Izraelem, ale całym Wszechświatem, mocarz,

który uwolni nas od płaczu, od udręki, od niewoli, a „Na mocy

tej woli uświęceni jesteśmy przez ofiarę ciała Jezusa Chrystusa

raz na zawsze” (Hbr 10,10). Czy to możliwe, by jednostka była w

stanie uwolnić nas od brzemienia grzechu?

Spróbujmy, chociaż przez chwilę, zastanowić się nad

faktem naszego Zbawienia, nad naszym uczestnictwem w tym

wielkim Błogosławieństwie, którego doświadcza Maryja, stając

się Matką Boga i Człowieka, stając się zarazem Matką nas

wszystkich. W tę czwartą Niedzielę Adwentu przejdźmy z fazy

oczekiwania do dnia, na który czekaliśmy, a który jest wstępem

do właściwego finału, czyli ostatecznego przyjścia Pana Jezusa

Chrystusa, i powtórzmy za świętą Elżbietą: „Błogosławiona

jesteś, któraś uwierzyła, że spełnią się słowa powiedziane Ci od

Pana." (Łk 1,45).

Matko Boża, Twoimi ramionami nas otocz. Przez Twe

wstawiennictwo dopraszamy się łask u Twojego

Nadchodzącego Syna, który przynosi nam Zbawienie.

Zachęcam wszystkich naszych parafian i gości aby z

otwartymi sercami włączyli się w radosne celebracje Świąt

Bożego Narodzenia. W biuletynie oraz w listach, które wam

In an cipa on of the approaching 100-year anni-versary of St. Constance Parish, you are invited to purchase from the "Tree of Life" a leaf on which you can place the names of your loved ones: par-ents, siblings, rela ves, friends, parishioners, priests, nuns, etc. Both the living and the dead can be named, so that their memory will last forever. You can have your own name on a leaf or choose to name your family. Proceeds from this project will be used for repairs of the church parking area and parish buildings. There are both large and small leaves on the "Tree of Life". For the engrav-ing and moun ng of each small leaf, the dona-

JUBILEE OF MERCY

Plenary indulgences aplenty Like all previous Jubilees, the Jubilee Year of Mercy features a very special plenary indulgence (the complete remission of all temporal punishment due to sin). I wish that the Jubilee Indulgence may reach each one as a genuine experience of God's mercy, which comes to meet each person in the Face of the Father who welcomes and forgives, forge ng completely the sin commi ed.

This me around, Pope Francis is seeking to make the indulgence as widely available as possible. In the extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, a Holy Door is to be opened in every cathedral around the world, as well as in par cular shrines or churches. Even though we can only obtain one plenary indulgence a day, if you perform the required ac ons for other plenary indulgences on the same day, you can s ll obtain mul ple par al indulgences. To receive the Jubilee Year indulgence, you must fulfill the usual condi ons, (specified below) and perform the indulgenced act: passing through a designated Holy Door during the extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy (between Dec. 8, 2015, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Concep on, and Nov. 20, 2016, the Solemnity of Christ the King) or performing one of the corporal or spiritual works of mercy. As for the sick and the elderly, the Holy Father says, "For them it will be of great help to live their sickness and suffering as an experience of closeness to the Lord who in the mystery of his Passion, death and Resurrec on indicates the royal road which gives meaning to pain and loneliness. Living with faith and joyful hope this moment of trial, receiving communion or a ending Holy Mass and community prayer, even through the various means of communica on, will be for them the means of obtaining the Jubilee Indulgence." For the imprisoned, the Holy Father says, "They may obtain the Indulgence in the chapels of the prisons. May the gesture of direc ng their thought and prayer to the Father each me they cross the threshold of their cell signify for them their passage through the Holy Door, because the mercy of God is able to transform hearts, and is also able to transform bars into an experience of freedom." You may receive the plenary indulgence yourself, or offer it for a person in purgatory. There are 32 designated churches in the Archdiocese of Chicago which you can visit to receive the plenary indulgence. One of my wife’s and my best ways of keeping Christmas is to make our own Christmas cards. This started back when our children were small--as in, pre-grade school small, with Sarah now 29, and Paul now 26--and other than the year my father died (November of 2000), we’ve kept it going ever since. I write the words. Gail adds the artwork. Today’s first reading from the prophet Micah (“Thus says the Lord: ‘You, Bethlehem-Ephrathah, too small to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel; whose origin is from old, from ancient mes…’) brings to mind one of our favorite cards from just a few years ago: I’m headed for Bethlehem/ I hear big things are going down there/ A king is born, Amen/ Emmanuel’s his name/ And this king, the prophets wrote/ is sent by God to be a savior/ Yeah, man, that’s so remote/ But I’m going just the same… As I write this column, the 2016 Christmas message is not yet complete, but I’m praying--really--for inspira on to hit me any day now. In the mean me, I’m actually thinking about last year’s card, given something that Gail said to me just the other day. Yeah. She said there is so much talk in Advent both from the pulpit and in the Scriptures about prepara on that it reminds her of the prepara ons for say, Thanksgiving, or for a wedding. She said that preparing for any given big day is important, of course. And necessary. I mean, we had fi een people over for Thanksgiving, and they came expec ng turkey, you know? Similarly, my wife and I a ended a wedding recently, and we know that the bride and groom--Melissa and Mike--put many hours into planning the big day. And this, too, is as it should be. As Gail explained, though, what we were really preparing for is a thanks-giving way of life, and what Melissa and Mike were really preparing for is a life me of commitment. Which brings me right back to the Christmas cards. Without knowing it at the me, I was grappling with the same no on when I put last year’s message together. The no on that it’s not about the day, but about the life, commemorated by the day. We are--or should be--a Christmas people, ever welcoming the Christ into our hearts and into our world. To this end, Gail and I made last year’s card in a Save-the-Date format with ribbons and bling. By my eye, it was her best work yet. The message began: Something in the air/ Something beyond the holiday fare, the glitz and glare, the babbling, brabbling, incessant blare/ Something calming. Something balming. Something true/ Our greatest self is begun now. We ever seek the sun now. God bless us every one, now… I next discussed how too o en, though, we seem to return to the normal day-to-day when the big day comes and goes, then closed with: Please save the date: December 25. More so, please save this day. Please keep it in play, never to wander, lose focus, or stray. Our greatest self is begun now. We ever seek the Son now. God bless us every one, now. Because we are not preparing for the day, a er all. We are preparing for the long haul. Merry Christmas.

YOUNG-AT-HEART "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" is what you heard being sung as all the members of the club were leaving the Lido Banquet Hall. The Christmas party was a great success. Our thanks to Peter, JoAnn, Eva, and their gracious staff. Their great service and smiling faces brought joy to our hearts. For all who donated to the Li le Brother and Li le Sisters of the Poor and Mercy Home we are so grateful for your generosity. This is what our club is all about. Everyone remembers Bill's Mother, Mary, she lived to be 103. . If you remember Mary was a excellent seamstress who made priest's vestments. You could o en find Mary at Mass as she went every day un l she was 100 years old. Next was our friend and neighbor Bertha Latos, passed away in November. Bertha and her husband Ed were ac ve in our parish for many years. Ed was President of the Holy Name Society and Bertha was President of the Women's Club. To Ed and the family, our hear elt sympathy. Lastly Elaine Benne passed away just last week. We thank her for her good works over the years. To Elaine's husband and family we send our sincerest prayers. INFORMACJE O SAKRAMENTACH ŚWI ĘTYCH Chrzty… Sakrament Chrztu Świętego jest udzielany w języku angielskim i polskim. Chrzty w języku angielskim są w pierwszą i trzecią niedzielę, a w języku polskim w drugą i czwartą niedzielę każdego miesiąca. Rodzice są zobowiązani do wzięcia udziału w spotkaniu przygotowującym do tego sakramentu przed planowaną datą chrztu dziecka. Prosimy o skontaktowanie się z biurem parafialnym, aby zgłosić dziecko do chrztu. Sakrament Małżeństwa… Archidiecezja Chicago zaleca, aby osoby, które planują zawarcie sakramentu małżeństwa zgłosiły się do biura parafialnego co najmniej cztery miesiące przed datą ślubu.
