Facilitation Programme for villagers to discuss with their Council Representators in Wellawaya Pradesheeya Sabha.

Intension

As our prior agenda on revealing common issues in Wellawaya pradesheeya sabha (PS) domain to its candidates who contested for the same PS , after the Pradesheeya Sabha election ,we arranged the villagers and their representator’s meeting to share villager’s needs with their members of pradesheeya sabha on 22nd July 2011.The main objective of this meeting was prepare a working plan to implement actual needs of villagers than come up the promises have made by their candidates in prior- election.

It was a priceless opportunity for villagers to meet their representators as pradesheeya sabha members in post- election.

Opening session of the meeting

The meeting started at 10.30am, 36 women and men leaders have

participated from Weherayaya county, Wherayaya, Thelulla39, Keheliya,

Randeniya, Randenigoda, Neluwagala, Ethiliwewa, DS gama,

Buduruwagala, Mahawelamulla in Wellawaya PS. Mr.Kolin Amarasinghe,

the Chairman of the district human rights committee and Ms.Swarnalatha

the chairman of the SAVISTHRI district committee in Monaragala ,

welcomed the participants. Then Ms.Padma Pushpakanthi addressed the

meeting and explained the importance of reconciliation and bridging in

between the people of the domain and their representators to come up

with comfortable environment of their living background through

identifying actual needs of the electorate. She further stated that it is the

responsibility of each person to work with their representators of the PS in

every possible links and women should play as main focus to attain peace.

She also brought out to the notice of the participants that as the villagers

of this PS division are lucky because of they have opportunity to work in

philanthropically with their members of the Wellawaya PS.

In next step meeting was open for reveal the main issues that villagers

have been suffering in long time and village committee leaders nicely

organized and displayed in posters about their actual needs. The

Chairman and appropriate members of the PS have responded therewithal

for all issues have arisen in the meeting.

At the end of this PS member’s meeting Ms.Samanthi,Programme

manager in SAVISTHRI discussed with the villagers and draft a

work plan for identify most important needs that have to do in

near future as well as selected responsible persons by the

audience for carry out that work plan.

We departed from Uwa Wellassa office in handapanagala around 4.00p.m

on 18th July 2011.
