The following is from “Nuestra Parroquia” The Readings and their Message Jeremiah 31:31-34 Jeremiah speaks of a new alliance that was not written in stone, but in the hearts of the people. The promise is made to an unfaithful and sinful people, through the mercy of God. What is new is its joyful and spontaneous validity, which is not based on compulsion or obligation, but on the recognition of the relationship expressed in the sentence “I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” Hebrews 5:7-9 Jesus became flesh and, therefore, was subject to human weakness and limitations. He submits to the obedience of his mission, which he knows will lead to suffering and death; and, from that death, he attains life. Jesus understands all human pain because of his own experience. He offered prayers and pleas for humanity and was heard. John 12:20-33 The service mentioned three times is what defines the hour of Jesus and of Christians. Where there is love, the service is glorious; where there is no love, it is just pure servile suffering. Service is framed by two references to the passion and agony of Jesus, and it is the revelation of the hour of Jesus. A person’s time comes when he or she is called to serve. The passion of Jesus would be his greatest service to humanity. Now the judgment of the world will take place.

This year’s Chrism Mass will be held on Monday, March 26th at 7:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. At this Mass the People, Priests, Deacons, and Religious

gather with Archbishop Gomez to celebrate as the Catholic people of Los Angeles.

During the Mass, the Holy Oils are blessed and distributed to all the parishes. Another highlight of this Mass is that the priests of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles renew their vows of obedience and their commitment to serve God’s people. Since parking in the Cathedral garage is limited, everyone is encouraged to carpool. Also, it is highly recommended that you arrive at the Cathedral by 5:30 p.m. so that way you can park in the Cathedral garage.

If you would like to donate Easter Lilies for the altar decorations in memory of a loved one, please bring lilies and leave them on the altar starting on Holy Thursday (March 29th). Please place a sticker or piece of tape on

the bottom of the plant with your loved one's name on it and they will be remembered during the Easter masses. Please do not bring plants before Holy Week as they will expire too soon. Thank you for your generosity.

Este año la Misa Crismal se llevará a cabo el día Lunes 26 de Marzo a las 7:00 p.m. en la Catedral de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles. En esta Misa el Pueblo, Sacerdotes, Diáconos y Religiosos se unirán con el Arzobispo Gómez para celebrar como el pueblo Católico de Los Ángeles. Durante esta Misa los Santos Aceites son bendecidos y distribuidos a todas las parroquias. Otro momento importante de esta Misa es que los sacerdotes de la Arquidiócesis de Los Angeles renuevan sus votos de obediencia y su compromiso de servir al pueblo de Dios. En vista de que el estacionamiento de la Catedral es limitado, les sugerimos hacer carpool. La promesa se le hace a un pueblo infiel y pecador, por la infinita misericordia de Dios. Lo que es nuevo es su validez gozosa y espontánea, no basada en la compulsión o la obligación, sino en el reconocimiento de la relación expresada en la oración “Yo seré su Dios y ellos serán mi pueblo”. Hebreos 5:7-9 Jesús se encarnó y, por lo tanto, estaba sujeto a la debilidad y las limitaciones humanas. Se somete en obediencia a la misión, que sabe que lo va a llevar al sufrimiento y a la muerte; y, desde esa muerte, alcanza la vida. Jesús entiende todo el dolor humano por su propia experiencia. Ofreció oraciones y súplicas por la humanidad y fue escuchado. Juan 12:20-33 El servicio es mencionado tres veces y es lo que define la hora de Jesús y la de los cristianos. Donde hay amor, el servicio es glorioso; donde no lo hay, es puro sufrimiento servil. El servicio está enmarcado por las dos referencias a la pasión y agonía de Jesús, y es la revelación de la hora de Jesús. A una persona le llega su hora cuando es llamada a servir. La pasión de Jesús será su mayor servicio a la humanidad. Ahora va a tener lugar el juicio del mundo.
