The Readings and their Message

1 Kings 17:10–16 Contact with the Canaanite religion had very negative consequences for the faith. Elijah obeys God’s command to go to Zarephath, the land of the god Baal. There, faced with drought and death, God saves Elijah and the widow. The Lord through the prophet communicates a message to everyone, everywhere: whoever receives and shares their bread with the foreigner, who comes in the name of the Lord, will lack nothing and will live. Hebrews 9:24–28 These verses exclude the sanctuary made by human hands and specify the sanctuary where Christ is priest. Through his sacrifice, Christ entered the sanctuary in heaven once and for all. The high presence entered the earthly sanctuary once a year, offering numerous sacrifices of animals. On the other hand, Christ enters into heaven, which is a unique event; offers a single sacrifice; and erases the sin of the people. Mark 12:41–44 When Jesus and his disciples approach the women’s courtyard in the temple, they see the collection-box where the people’s contributions were deposited. The priests were recording everything and reporting it aloud. This provided many with the opportunity to show off. Jesus invites to see the contrast between those who define themselves by what they have and acquire, and the poor widow, who is defined by what she gives. Jesus’ teaching concludes by making a comparison between those who “contributed from their surplus” and the widow, who gave everything she has.

Parks are great places for children to play freely, test limits, and make new friends. But because they’re such popular play zones, that makes them attractive spots for predators. Lo siguiente es de “Nuestra Parroquia”

Las lecturas y su mensaje 1 Reyes 17:10–16 El contacto con la religión cananea tuvo consecuencias muy negativas para la fe. Por medio de esta lectura conocemos que Elías obedece la orden de Dios de ir a Sarepta, la tierra del dios Baal. Allí, frente a la sequía y la muerte, Dios guarda la vida de Elías y la viuda. El Señor por medio del profeta comunica un mensaje a todos, en todas partes: quien reciba y comparta su pan con el extranjero, quien viene en nombre del Señor, no carecerá de nada y vivirá. Hebreos 9:24–28 Estos versos excluyen el santuario hecho por manos humanas y especifican el santuario donde Cristo es el sacerdote. Por su sacrificio, Cristo entró en el santuario del cielo para siempre. El sumo sacerdote entraba en el santuario terrestre una vez al año, ofreciendo numerosos sacrificios de animales. Cristo, en cambio, entra en el propio cielo, un acontecimiento único; ofrece un solo sacrificio; y borra el pecado del pueblo. Marcos 12:41–44 Cuando Jesús y sus discípulos se acercan al patio de las mujeres en el templo, ven las alcancías donde se recogía lo que la gente entregaba. Los sacerdotes iban haciendo un registro de todo y lo decían en voz alta. Esto daba a muchos la ocasión de lucirse frente a todos. Jesús invita a ver el contraste entre quienes se definen a sí mismos por lo que tienen y adquieren, y la viuda pobre que se define por lo que entrega. La enseñanza de Jesús concluye haciendo una comparación entre quienes “han echado de lo que les sobraba” y la viuda, que dio todo lo que tenía para vivir.

Los parques son excelentes lugares para que los niños jueguen libremente, prueben sus propios límites y hagan nuevos amigos. Pero debido a que son zonas de juego tan

populares, eso los convierte en lugares atractivos para los depredadores. Los padres de familia pueden tomar medidas concretas para garantizar la seguridad de sus hijos cuando acuden a parques y áreas de juego locales. Tome nota de las personas que rodean a los niños, especialmente los adultos que están solos en el área, en el patio de recreo o en automóviles cercanos. Observe a las familias cercanas y haga un seguimiento de quién está jugando con su hijo. Prestar atención a su entorno puede ayudar a que usted disfrute más plenamente de su tiempo con sus hijos, a la vez que los mantiene seguros.
