I PLEDGE MY HEALTH

As of July 1, 2014 drinkable water, without

anything added, must be available at all 4-H meetings, activities and events. In addition,

any 4-H fundraisers that include the sale of beverages must include water as an option.

The health and safety of 4-Hers is a priority at all activities and events. Drinking water is

crucial for good health and will help prevent dehydration and heat illness. Having water

available ensures a healthy beverage choice.

Water is the best option for rehydration

when participating in physical activities, and ensures more stamina to complete events.

Water contains no sugar, which helps ensure stable energy levels and reduces fatigue.

Water contains no caffeine, so hyper activi-

ty, loss of concentration, and possible be-havioral problems are avoided. Water is of-

tentimes free. Choosing water when thirsty is a natural instinct, and should be encour-

aged. There will be a Pit River Clean Up

Day on Saturday, September 20th at

9-11am. If your club would like to

help please contact, Lorissa Soriano

at 640-0125.

―On behalf of the Modoc County 4-H and UC Davis Extension office, we would like to thank Susie Stokke for her peerless performance during the past three years as we

congratulate her on her retirement.‖- Offers Director Steve Orloff. The years that Susie has worked for the Modoc County 4-H program have been

marked with efficiency and excellence. Susie created and organized the first ever Nat-ural Resources Day Camp last year for the county 4-Hers and was instrumental in get-

ting more 4-H actively involved in the Modoc District Fair this year. She also estab-lished the county wide event, Science Saturday. Susie has dedicated the last years to improving our 4-H program and has worked with the 4-H Leaders Council to stream-line the handbook and enrollment process in our county. She is a valued member of

the team and will be dearly missed. Susie has been a great personality around the of-fice and we are honored that she will be serving as a County Advisor Volunteer for the

Natural Resources Day Camp and Science Saturday. Susie and her husband Sean, plan on traveling during retirement. Susie will be riding

her horse and driving Sean crazy with honey do’s. The Modoc County 4-H office wishes Susie the best and wholeheartedly thanks her for

her contributions to our 4-H program.
