Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,
It has been a fantastic start to the new academic year. The children have settled back into their routines quickly and they are already amazing us with their super attitude to learning. An extra special welcome goes to our new starter Willow, who has made a great start to her school journey and Mrs Goodison, who is our new Administration Assistant. We hope they will be very happy here at Misterton C of E First School. Over the Summer break, the school was completely rewired and our heating system was updated. Staff worked hard to put the finishing touches to each learning area before the end of the holidays and the school feels warm and welcoming. There are interesting displays to be shared everywhere.
The year has started with many fabulous activities. We are being ‘Environmental Heroes’ this term and all enjoyed our first' WOW' day designing, making and evaluating something made from upcycling materials which the children had collected and brought in from home. Children and staff all wore Hi-Viz jackets and took on the role as a 'Junk Rescuer' with great enthusiasm. We all celebrated the end of our second week back by sharing blackberries, apples and pears that had been grown on our school grounds. What an exciting year ahead it is going to be too! Over the holidays, we had confirmation that Misterton has been awarded our Bronze School Games Mark. It is a wonderful achievement for our children. This year, we will be working towards the Silver School Games Mark. Already, coming up this term, we have a whole school trip to the Cinema in November and the Harvest Festival on the 10th October at 2pm in St Leonard’s Church. If you have any time to spare time and have a skill or hobby to share please pop in and see Mrs Goodison in the office to share this. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with you.

Yeovil Area Cross Country Event - Year 2, 3 & 4 Race
Two amazing races! With a few newcomers to Team MASH all nerves and butterflies were
soon quashed as the first race got underway!
Parents scrambled to the side lines of the course around the Yeovil Rugby Club grounds to
“shout it out” for Team MASH. In the distance, through the drizzle (rain without fail) it was
clear to see that the effort was immense as our purple T-shirts pulled away to close the gaps.
Results have yet to be confirmed but it is estimated that there were at least 200 girls and 200
boys in each of our races! Taking this into consideration and that some of the runners could
be up to three years older than some of our team members, an 11th place for Poppy Conroy
and a 33rd place for Lucus Dawe both in Yr3 were no mean feat! They were followed across
the finish line (in no particular order – tbc) by first time runners including Summer Cole Yr2,
Emma Astall Yr2, Samuel Tucker Yr4 and Patryk Gawrys Yr2 who all looked to our more experi-
ence runners Will Kirton yr4, Sayer Pilton Yr3, Sophie Synakova Yr3 and Chloe Willis Yr4 for
technique, determination and staying power. A tremendous effort well Done EVERYONE!
Great team spirit!

Reuben amazed his parents with his knowledge of
a plate his mum had brought from an antique
shop. He was able to tell them it was a Puja plate
and explained how Hindus use it during their reli-
gious festivals. Super Learning Reuben!

attitude. Today her presentation was beautiful
and she made me really proud. Keep this up

tude to her learning both in and out of
school. She is whizzing along with her home
reading challenge and has already achieved
the first certificate. Well done young lady!

Korbin impressed us all with his super vocabu-
lary choices in English. He loves words and he
is actively expanding his word choice every
day! B Keep this up Korbin, it is great to hear!
