MINUTES PAGE TWO JUNE 11, 2013 July 22, 2013 – 9:00 a.m. - Board approves Notice of Proposed Tax Increase or Notice of Budget Hearing, Notice of Tax for School Capital Outlay, and Budget Summary advertisements; date and time for tentative budget hearing July 25, 2013 – 5:00 p.m. - Regular scheduled meeting (Tentative) July 29, 2013 – 5:10 p.m. – Public Hearing on tentative millage rates and proposed budget 5:20 p.m. - Regular Board meeting (Tentative) After discussion regarding dates for meetings, Mrs. Platt made a motion to change the Thursday, July 25th meeting to Monday, July 29th at 5:20 p.m. The motion was second by Mrs. Crawford. Motion carried. RECOGNITIONS-- - The Hardee County School Board – (The Hardee Senior High School Blue Star Brigade) A plaque was presented to the School Board from the HSHS Blue Star Brigade and Mr. Michael Hill, Director, in appreciation of the Board’s support. Mr. Samuels made mention of how fantastic the band uniforms looked and their appearance at the honor’s banquet. - Mr. Woody Caligan, Deputy Superintendent, on retiring at the end of the month, was presented with a flag enclosed in a cherry oak case by Superintendent Durastanti and Chair Samuels. In recognition of the number of years of commitment and dedicated service to the district, the flag was taken from the flag pole at the district office. Mr. Caligan expressed gratitude for the opportunity to do what he had a passion – to serve the children. In response, Board members wished him well and commended him for an outstanding job throughout the years. PRESENTATIONS None ACTION AGENDA Salary Schedules -- Current Fiscal Year On motion by Mrs. Crawford, and second by Mrs. Platt, the Board unanimously approved the the negotiated salary settlement for fiscal year 2012-13. (Supplement #308) Personnel -- Appointments On motion by Mrs. Crawford, and second by Mrs. Platt, the Board unanimously approved the following appointment for the 2013-2014 school year: Robert (Bob) Shayman - Deputy Superintendent. (Supplement #309) On motion by Mrs. Platt, and second by Mrs. Crawford, the Board unanimously approved the following appointments for the 2013-2014 school year; Kathy Clark – Principal, Bowling Green Elementary; Sonja Bennett – Principal, Wauchula Elementary; Michele Polk – Principal, Hardee Senior High; Melanie Henderson – Principal, Zolfo Springs Elementary; Doug Herron – Principal, Hardee Junior High and Hilltop; Tracey Nix – Principal, North Wauchula Elementary; Mike Wilkinson – Adult & Community Education and Administrator of Career and Technical Education. District Board Meeting -- Next School Board Meeting - June 27, 2013 @ 5:00 p.m. NEW BUSINESS Administration None School Board (Mrs. Platt) – Thanked everyone for their hard work. (Mrs. Crawford) – Stated the recreation council met and the amount of the school board’s contribution will increase. Mr. Harrelson will be bringing more details in a packet from the meeting. Current funding through Pari-Mutuel will no longer be occurring through the rec council - has asked the county for capital outlay funding through their budget – hopefully that will be approved. (Mr. Samuels) – Received an email from Mr. Wilkinson stating that we have received official notice for the National Automotive &Technician Education Foundation. All our CT programs are now certified. - Asked about the progress of the bleachers, Mr. Krahl stated everything was going as on contracted. PUBLIC COMMENTS (Mr. Kayton Nedza) – Invited Superintendent and School Board to the annual outdoor classroom steak dinner on Thursday, June 13th at 6:00 p.m. ADJOURNMENT 5:20 p.m.
