History• Started by a man named Eberhard Anheuser, who bought out a pre-existing brewery.

•He named it E. Anheuser & Co.

•Adolphus Busch met Anheuser and they eventually merged and formed a partnership.

History Continued..• Adolphus Busch wanted to create a new and appealing type of beer

•In 1876, he created an American-style lager beer called Budweiser.

•This name appealed to German immigrants, and could be easily pronounced.

•Became the company’s flagship brand beer.

•In the early 1870’s, Busch became the first brewer to incorporate pasteurization

•Later on in the 1880’s, he also introduced artificial refrigeration.

•In 1879, the company was renamed Anheuser Busch in order to credit Busch’s efforts.
