Special Inspections & Soil Evaluation Proctors

Once Earthwork begins one of the most important steps should be to have native soils as well as any borrow or fill soils assessed .

We pick up samples of the different types of soils and bring them to the lab to undergo a series of lab tests. In doing these tests we can determine the moisture content or (PI) and the maximum dry density of the soil the contractor will be working with.

This allows us to assist in solving any challenges the contractor may encounter during this phase of construction.

SPECIAL INSPECTIONS

Fabrication of structural members or assemblies

Structural Steel, (welding, high strength bolts, details, etc.)

Steel reinforcement, post tension placement and curing

Pier Foundations

Masonry, ( mortar & grout)

Fire proofing & Vapor Barrier thickness and density

Foundation Construction & Concrete Testing

The successful performance of any structure is based on the integrity of the foundation system.

At METCO we assist clients in the design and construction of a proper foundation in accordance with the specific structure.

Some foundation designs include:

Concrete Sampling & Tests

Pre-Construction Review on testing procedures, batching & placing, specifications, curing procedures and techniques on special projects.

Field testing and observations on,

Cylinders & Beams, Slump, Air Percentage, Mix temperature, weight and appearance.

Laboratory Testing

Evaluations of the compressive and flexural strengths.

Evaluating In-Place

Testing of field cured cylinders, Sample coring for compression testing and accelerated strength by way of a Swiss Hammer or other tests.
