Title of activity: THINK GREEN Mediterranean Action Day activities in Bitola, are implemented very successfully, for the first time involving high school students as a driving force of the activities. This how we succeed to motivate youth to take action in environmental activities and to motivate them to become “Knights of the Planet Earth”. Group of new 15 youth are now members of Biosfera being active in the youth club. For the purpose of the campaign and activities, visual identity of the campaign was created. We have the logo of the campaign and slogan. Logo and slogan were placed at all printed materials giving to the activities recognition by the wider public. At the beginning of the project time plan for implementation was created and responsibilities shared.

Internet campaign

Facebook campaign In order to address as much is possible people as a target group and to transfer the message of the campaign: “Good will and awareness is the key for Mediterranean eco system” we create Facebook profile and we were updating and placing information about all events and activities within the Mediterranean Action Day activities. Underwater world 2 Stefan with artistic name Stefan Psy has composed special electronic music “Reborning Planet”. His own music has added to video creating audio visual art motivating viewers to rethink about their everyday actions seeng the so called “big picture” where the humankind is going? E – mail campaign

We create a list of more than 120 e – mail addresses, sending information and message of the campaign to the different stakeholders and decision makers all over the country. Mailing group is attached to this report.

Media campaign

Special editions of the Radio show THIRD PLANET on the University radio UKLO FM

Biosfera NGO has excellent communication with University radio UKLO FNM. All information

related to project activities were transmitted trough the radio. Marija Zdrvevska and Martin Jonovski

were guests at special edition of the Radio show “The Third Planet” explaining the project activities,

promotion Mediterannean information office and activities of Biosfera. The focus was given to the

importance of the involvement of each individuals in global efforts for saving the Planet Earth.

TV coverage of all events

All events were covered by the local TV stations. This how we succeed to affect more then

150 000 people living in 9 municipalities of Pelagonija planning region were this TV stations are

broadcasting their shows.

Direct campaigning trough different events

Poetry event

Poetry event was organized in the premises of National institution Univeristy Library “St.

Kliment Ohridski”. After the announcement more t hen 50 poems arrived in our office. For the best

selected there were special winning prizes and diplomas at the special poetry event that we have

organized.

Sustainable consumption green party at open space

Because of the low temperatures we decide to organize the party in the night club “CODE”.

For these purpose members of the music group “Dead shot” have composed music song that

Field visit to Thessaloniki exploring marine and coastal environment making the photos and video

to be used as a stimulant for discussion

After the preparation of the visit and selection of the institution that we would like to

address and to communicate to visit, we decide not to implement this activity because of the strikes

in Greece and in that moment not stable political situation as a reflection of the economic instability.

region and representatives of the high schools in Bitola. At the beginning presentation was made by

Marija Zdravevska about Mediterranean information office and “Mediterranean Action Day.

Martin Jonovski made introduction to the theme “Sustainable consumption and production”.

After that discussion was open to the participants and following conclusions are extracted

- There is a need for more discussions and opening this issue to the wider public;

- We should find a way to motivate Youth to be more involved and engaged in this kind of

activities. They are the driving force for shaping their own future.

- Local municipalities should allocate financial support for activities promoting protection of

the water and aquatic eco systems;

- Role of the media is very important and should be used in a best possible way;

- For the next year more organization form Municipalities of Pelagonija planning region to be

involved in Mediterranean Action Day activities.

Exhibition of the thematic books at the University library “St. Kliment Ohridski”;

Biosfera for the first time has established cooperation with National institution Univeristy

Library “St. Kliment Ohridski”. For 7 days at their exhibition hall were placed thematic exhibition of

books. Exhibition attract the attention of the visitors transferring the message of the project and

Mediterranean Action Days in Bitola.

Exhibition of photos and paintings inspired by Sustainable consumption and production with links

to the marine and coastal environment;

Exhibition of photos was placed in the library together with the books. At the special

ceremony winning prizes were given to the best authors.

Distribution of leaflets and promotion of the T-shirts and posters;

Distribution of the leaflets was organized by Biosfera volunteers before each event and at

the pedestrian street “Shirok Sokak” in order to address more people with the campaign. 1000

leaflets were distributed in 10 high schools involving more than 2000 high students trough

information transfer, Facebook profile and the web page.

Workshop for elementary school students in the Information and education centre Volvox using

Green Pack methods on consumption and healthy life.

Information and education centre Volvox is at open space and due to very low temperatures

minus 15 – 200C it was not possible to implement this activity. Even that we have initial agreements

with the elementary schools we decided not to implement this activity.

Additional special event: Santa Clause in the ZOO Garden in Bitola

Biosfera has organized special event Santa

Claus in the Zoo Garden. The idea was to attract

children and their parents in the ZOO and together

to wish Happy New Year to all animals. We use the

event to promote our project, to distribute leaflets

to the parents and to place the banner. It was very

nice and successful event with around 200 visitors

and media coverage. Children were singing songs

about Santa Claus, New Year, and animal and

nature protection. At the end all win New Year Cracker.
