EXTRAORDINARY MUNIFICENCE.—The funds of some of our metropolitan hospitals have been increased by the follow- ing handsome bequests under the will of a wealthy and generous London tradesman, Mr. Cuthbert Collings, of Southgate, Mid- dlesex:-The London Hospital, £4000 ; Royal Free Hospital, 2000; the Small-pox Hospital, f:2000; the Great Northern Hospital, £2000 ; the City of London Hospital for Diseases of the Chest, Victoria-park, £2000 ; the London Fever Hospital, £1000 ; the Royal Hospital for Incurables, Putney, £1000 ; the Metropolitan Free Hospital, Devonshire-square, £1000 ; the National Hospital for the Paralysed and Epileptic, £1000; and to the Newcastle Infirmary, £1000. Altogether, this good man bequeathed £17,000 to medical charities alone, and a sum of f:7000 to other institutions not strictly medical, making a grand total of £24, 000. DR. BLACKBURN, accused of attempting to introduce the yellow fever into New York by distributing infected clothing from Bermuda, has been arrested in Montreal on the charge of having committed a breach of the neutrality laws. NORFOLK AND NORWICH HOSPITAL. - His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales has signified his intention of becoming a subscriber of ten guineas yearly to this hospital. MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS. J. F.
