Teen Stock Character

In our trailer we chose to use four teen stock characters, we chose to conform to this convention because our film is aimed at teens, seeing as this our demographic it can be deduced that our audience will feel more sympathetic toward the characters and therefore have a more emotional bond, and subsequently will feel more tense at suspenseful moments in the movie. Our stock characters consist of some of the four archetypal characters: The wanderer, Popular Girl, The jock and the final girl.

Male Antagonist

We chose to use this convention of horror films due to the fact that males antagonists have an already established set of scary aspects to them. By doing this we don't have to spend as much time setting up the character due to the fact the audience are already familiar.

They are usually bigger and therefore more imposing and dominant in a horror movie scenario

Protagonists being a young girl

We chose to use a young girl for two main reasons, the first being that a young girl is often portrayed as the most vulnerable character in all fiction, aside from babies. This extreme sense of vulnerability, causes by physical size and strength but also by trusting and gullibility makes the scenes were she is trouble all the more terrifying.

The next reason is that we creates a weird and scary relationship between the main and antagonist and the little girl.

Mask

We chose to have the main antagonist wearing a mask, a convention well established in the world of slasher horror.

We did this so it would dehumanise him, and the intent of this was to make him as far from what we define as human as possible in an effort to making the audience feel less sympathetic towards his plight.

Twisted Father/Daughter Relationship

The main antagonist of the story was once a family man, this all changed when his wife killed his daughter, in a rage he killed her, since then he has been on the fringe of society never letting go of what happened. But when he finds this girl who looks identical to his daughter, he thinks it is, but he has gone so crazy that he doesn't know how to interact properly.

Challenge

Challenge

We didnt really challenge any aspects of the slasher horror genre to much, aside from the fact that we tried to give it more of a backstory
