On March 26, 1993, a group of 22 investors purchased the San Antonio Spurs. The groupcurrently numbers nineteen investors and are members of a limited liability company knownas San Antonio Spurs, L.L.C. Now in his ninth season as Chairman and CEO … he and his wife, JuliannaHawn Holt, bought into the Spurs ownership group in 1996 … under theirwatch the organization has enjoyed unprecedented growth and success … apair of NBA Championships, a successful campaign for a new arena and twonew sports franchises are among the accomplishments achieved under Holt… thanks in part to the SBC Center—which opened in November of 2002—the organization is now known as Spurs Sports & Entertainment … with over200 full-time employees, Spurs Sports & Entertainment runs three sportsfranchises—the Spurs, the Silver Stars and the Rampage—while also managing the day-to-dayoperations of the SBC Center … the Tim Duncan era has been the most exciting in the Spurs 31-yearhistory … over the last seven seasons—since Duncan joined the team in 1997-98—the Spurs haveposted a regular season record of 379-163 … the team’s winning percentage of .699 during that span isthe best of any team in the four major sports (MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL) … the Spurs captured theirfirst NBA Championship in 1999 and then won a second NBA Title in 2003 … in February of 2004 theSpurs were named the best franchise in professional sports in the second annual ESPN The MagazineUltimate Standings … the Ultimate Standings ranks all 121 professional teams in a formula using analysisof team financial data combined with fan feedback in which 31,000 fans judge teams by eight factorsincluding players, bang for the buck, ownership, and stadium experience … the great-grandson ofBenjamin Holt, inventor of the first crawler-tractor, which became the basis for Caterpillar, Inc. … servesas the President and CEO of San Antonio-based Holt Companies … the firm, which still displays one ofBen Holt’s early tractors outside its headquarters, owns the largest Caterpillar dealership in the UnitedStates … a native of Peoria, Illinois … lived in San Antonio as a child before moving to Corpus Christi,where he graduated from high school … then served two years in the U.S. Army during which time heearned a Silver Star, three Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart from his one-year tour of duty in Vietnam …ended his military service as a Sergeant E5 … a staunch believer in community service … is proud of theSpurs commitment to South Texas and its residents (in 2000 the Spurs earned the Pro Team CommunityAward presented by the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame, an award presented annually to theprofessional sports franchise that best illustrates exceptional community involvement and fosterscommunity pride and spirit) … among the Spurs community efforts are the Spurs/Pizza Hut Drug-FreeYouth Basketball League, the annual countywide United Way campaign and the Spurs Read to AchieveProgram which services over 300 elementary schools in Bexar County (during the 2003-04 season, localstudents read more than 7 million minutes, thanks to Spurs reading challenges) … Holt’s own effortsinclude a lengthy list of community service positions … a member of the World Presidents’ Organization… past chairman of the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County … appointed to the Texas Parks& Wildlife Commission by Governor Rick Perry … serves as a board member for Chase Bank-SanAntonio, Free Trade Alliance San Antonio, the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation, the TrustCompany and the Texas State Aquarium … is board chairman of St. Mary’s Hall, a private school in SanAntonio, and is a trustee of Trinity University … he and Julianna have been Spurs season ticket holderssince 1988.

with a career mark of 396-210 … his career winning percentage of .653 ranks sixth in NBA history and is thebest among active coaches … posted his 300th career win in Los Angeles on January 5, 2003 as the Spursbeat the Clippers 94-86 … did so in his 476th career game, making him the ninth fastest coach in NBA historyto reach the 300 win mark … has been named the NBA Coach of the Month six times in his career (4/99, 3/01,3/02, 1/03, 3/03 and 12/03) … playoff career winning percentage of .609 (53-34) is the eighth best in NBAhistory … the Spurs all-time leader in both regular season and playoff wins … a 1970 graduate of the UnitedStates Air Force Academy with a degree in Soviet Studies … played four seasons at the Air Force Academy …as a senior was the team’s captain and leading scorer … following his graduation in 1970 served his five-yearmilitary commitment … during that time toured Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union as a member of the U.S.Armed Forces Team … selected to represent the U.S. on the national A.A.U. Team touring the Soviet Union …in 1972 was the captain of the Armed Forces team, which won the A.A.U. Championship … earned an invitationto the 1972 U.S. Olympic Team Training Camp … in 1973 returned to the Air Force Academy as an assistantcoach … spent six years at Air Force during which time he obtained his master’s degree in Physical Educationand Sports Sciences from the University of Denver … in 1979, he was named the head coach at Pomona-Pitzerin Claremont, California … spent the next eight seasons at Pomona … during the 1985-86 season led the teamto its first conference championship in 68 years and to a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament … while atPomona was an active member of the school’s academic community, working as an associate professor, chairingthe college’s Student Life committee, serving on the Women’s Commission and even—for one year—living in adorm with his family … moved to the NBA in July of 1988, joining the Spurs as an assistant coach as a memberof Larry Brown’s staff … spent the next four seasons in San Antonio for a Spurs team that won a pair of MidwestDivision titles … in the summer of 1992 was named an assistant coach on Don Nelson’s staff with Golden State… spent the next two seasons with the Warriors … named the Spurs executive vice president of basketballoperations/general manager on May 31, 1994 … served as GM for eight full seasons before turning the job overto R.C. Buford on July 1, 2002 … named the Spurs head coach in December of 1996 … has served as anassistant coach for USA Basketball’s Men’s Senior Team each of the last three summers (at the 2002 WorldBasketball Championship, the 2003 FIBA America Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament and the 2004 OlympicGames) … a very active member of the San Antonio community … in 1991 teamed with Frank Martin to createthe Spurs/Pizza Hut Drug-Free Youth Basketball League … today the league plays at 75 locations in and aroundSan Antonio … over 20,000 boys and girls—ages 7 to 16—played in the league in 2003-04 (Spurs guard DevinBrown and Silver Stars guard Tai Dillard both played in the Spurs Drug-Free League while growing up in SanAntonio) … prior to each game, each participant takes the Drug-Free League pledge, promising to remain drugand alcohol free while showing good sportsmanship and fair play … in February of 1992, President Bushawarded a Daily Point of Light Award to the Spurs Drug-Free League … in addition is involved in several othercharities including Roy Maas’ Youth Alternatives, the Kids Sports Network and the San Antonio Food Bank …he and his wife of 29 years, Erin, have been blessed with two children, Micky and Jill.

Joined the Spurs in September of 2002 … brings 25 years of head coaching experienceto the Spurs bench … started his coaching career as an assistant at FordhamUniversity … served as the head coach at New Hampshire College for one season(1975-76) … then spent six seasons as the head coach at Wagner College … namedthe head coach at Seton Hall University in 1982 … in his 12 seasons at the school ledthe Pirates to six trips to the NCAA Tournament including an appearance in the 1989Championship Game … named the 1989 NCAA Coach of the Year after the Piratesfinished with a 31-7 mark … earned Big East Coach of the Year honors in both 1988 and 1989 … in thesummer of 1994 was named the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers … led the Blazers to the playoffsthree straight seasons … in June of 1997 was hired as Golden State’s head coach … spent three seasonswith the Warriors … served as a broadcaster for NBC Sports and Spurs TV for two seasons prior to joiningthe Spurs coaching staff … has an extensive background in international competition … served as an assistantfor U.S.A. Basketball for the 1992 Olympic Games, the 1990 World Championships, the 1990 GoodwillGames and the 1988 Olympic Trials … was the head coach for the U.S. Team in the 1991 World UniversityGames, leading the squad to a gold medal … elected to the Seton Hall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002 and theWagner Hall of Fame in 2003 … a native of Scranton, Pennsylvania … his father—the late Pete Carlesimo—was the long-time executive director of the NIT … a 1971 graduate of Fordham … he and his wife, Carolyn,have a two-year-old son, Kyle.

The SBC Center—San Antonio’s state-of-the-artarena—opened in November, 2002. A public-privateventure amongst Bexar County, the ColiseumAdvisory Board, the San Antonio Livestock Show &Rodeo and Spurs Sports & Entertainment, the SBCCenter truly offers, “Something for Everyone.”

The facility hosts four anchor tenants: the NBASpurs, the AHL Rampage, the WNBA Silver Starsand the San Antonio Stockshow & Rodeo.Additionally, the venue attracts a multitude ofconcerts, family shows and special events.

In its first two years, the SBC Center has hostedover 400 events entertaining over four millionguests. George Strait, the Rolling Stones, Billy Joel& Elton John, Prince, Luciano Pavarotti and VanHalen are just a few of the musical acts that havevisited the SBC Center. Other entertainment acts—including Sesame Street Live, WWE Smackdown andRaw, the Wiggles and championship boxing—have also made stops in San Antonio thanks to the SBC Center.

The facility offers diverse events to the San Antonio community and all of South Texas thanks in part toits various seating capabilities which range from 1,000 in its theater setting to 18,797 for a Spurs game.Recently, the venue launched a new “Tier II” campaign to leverage its ancillary meeting spaces,exhibition/trade configurations and unique special event opportunities. This additional amenity furtherillustrates the facility’s full-service approach to every event’s specific needs.

Built in a “ranch tech” style, the SBC Center is designed to present a sense of place, both inside andout. The external view, in addition to its distinctive architecture, features park-like landscaping that’s bothvisually appealing and environmentally friendly. Inside, the design continues to capture the South Texasambiance with festive colors and imaginative details.

Adding to the interior appeal of the SBC Center is a $1 million collection of fine art produced under thedirector of Spurs owners Peter and Julianna Holt. The diverse collection ranges from Texas-styled art tomodern art with a basketball theme.
