SPURS-CLIPPERS 2019-20 SEASON SERIES: The Clippers lead the season series 2-1. In a closely contested battle, San Antonio fell to Los Angeles, 103-97, on 10/31. In a game that saw 10 ties, Spurs went on an 8-2 run to close the gap 99-95 with two minutes left but couldn’t overcome the deficit. DeMar DeRozan scored 29 points and Derrick White contributed 20. A well-balanced offense and impressive defensive led the Spurs to a 107-97 win on 11/29. San Antonio tallied 14 three-pointers while holding the Clippers to 44 points in the second half. The Spurs held Kawhi Leonard to 19 points for his fifth-lowest outing this season. In the third meeting this year, the Clippers stole a 134-109 victory at the AT&T Center on 12/21. Los Angeles claimed a 72-61 edge at halftime, tying the Spurs opponent record for points in the first half this season. DeRozan scored a team-leading 24 points and Marco Belinelli recorded a season-high 17 points. Poeltl registered four blocks, raising his season total to 41 in 28 games. The Spurs coughed up 18 turnovers as the Clippers scored 74 points in the paint. Kawhi Leonard led the Clippers with

26 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds.

SPURS-HORNETS 2018-19 SERIES: The Hornets swept the Spurs 2-0 in the 2018-19 season series. In Tony Parker’s return to the AT&T Center, former Spurs assistant James Borrego and the Hornets stole a 108-93 victory on 1/14. Parker recorded 8 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds while Kemba Walker tallied a game-high 33 points. LaMarcus Aldridge notched 28 points (11-17 FG, 6-6 FT) and 10 rebounds and Derrick White added 18 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds. Charlotte outscored San Antonio 44-34 in the paint and out-rebounded the Spurs by a 45-36 margin. The Silver & Black held the lead with under a minute remaining until Hornets’ Walker knotted the score at 106 to send it into overtime, where Charlotte ran away with a 125-116 win. Walker scored a game-high 36 points and dished out 11 assists. DeMar DeRozan paced the Spurs with 30 points (12-24 FG, 6-8 FT), adding 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Meanwhile, Aldridge built upon his recent surge, scoring 20 points and collecting a game-high 15 boards. It marked the seventh time this season Aldridge brought down 15-or-more rebounds, which is the most such games for him in any single season with the Spurs.

SPURS-CLIPPERS CONNECTIONS: The Spurs tied its largest margin of victory against the Clippers in franchise history (38) with a 125-87 win on 12/13/18 … previously, the Spurs scored 163 points vs. then San Diego Clippers (163-125) on 11/8/78, which also marked the most points ever scored by the Spurs in regulation in an NBA game … Former San Antonio guard Tony Parker became the youngest player to appear in a game for the Spurs when he suited up on 10/30/01 vs. the Clippers … the 19-year-old Frenchman had 9 points and 3 assists in his NBA debut … the Clippers became the first NBA team San Antonio recorded 100 victories against with a 93-84 win on 3/13/07... In a game of runs, the Raptors struck first with a 26-6 run in the first quarter with 9 three-pointers in the frame. The Spurs responded with a streak of their own, going 20-7 and tied the game at 76 with 4:01 left in the third quarter. The matchup resembled the Spurs one-point win at Toronto just two weeks ago, as the game was tied at 105 with under a minute left before Fred VanVleet put away a three and made two free throws to seal the deal for the Raptors.
