Bring the Kids to "Sheep to Shawl" at Brookside Museum Brookside Museum presents a Family “Sheep to Shawl” Program on Sunday, May 2 from noon to 3 p.m. For more than twenty years in the spring, Brookside had hosted hundreds of school age children for a Sheep to Shawl Program. This year they have added a family day so children and their families can experience the program. The interactive program is designed to take a step back in time to see how early Saratoga County residents provided for their own needs, specifically the

processing of wool from sheep into a finished garment. The day’s activities include sheep shearing, spinning of fibers into yarn, and weaving the yarn into cloth. Additional craft activities will be available. Admission will be $2.00 per person/$5.00 per family. For more information call Brookside at 885.4000 or email Linda at [email protected].

Family Friendly Spring Clean Up Friends and Neighbors of Ballston Spa (FANS) is teaming up with The Friends of the Kayaderosseras (FOK) for a Family

Friendly Spring Clean-up, Saturday May 1, 9 am (Rain date May 15).

We hope that families will attend the event and work together with spouses and/or friends to allow some people to partici-

pate in the clean-up and others to stay at Kelley Park Playground. Parents should decide which children are old enough to

go with a parent on a clean up crew and which children should stay at the playground. Families and friends should coordi-

nate to ensure that good supervision is provided for both groups of children. We welcome the participation of middle and

high school age students - this volunteer experience does count for their community service hours.

FANS GOALS for the volunteer day:

Cut and place large beam in playground (tot lot where swings are)

Hang the tot swing

Rake wood chips

Sweep play equipment

Inspect for wasp/bee nest activity

Pick up trash in playground area, surrounding fields, and near creek.

FOK GOALS for the volunteer day:

Clean public access points along the Kayaderosseras (most will be on land, but dress to wade)
