Thank you to the parents who went along to support the students. Congratulations and thank you to Miss Andersen who prepared the students to compete. We look forward to our next event, the winter sports lightning carnival. This will take place on Friday 21st June. Miss Andersen will send home details to the students in Years 5 and 6 with regard to this event. The Year 1 class will hold their Liturgy of Word on Wednesday 19th June. This will begin at 9:05am and it will be held in the Sacred Space. From the moment that Sue joined our staff she has been an invaluable member of the community. She began working in a combined role of Finance Officer and Administration Officer. As the workload increased, due mostly to government compliance, the role separated out into two and Sue worked as our Finance Officer. Sues attention to detail, her diligent work ethic and her strong care and concern for everyone will be sorely missed by all. There is so much that Sue does that it is impossible to fully appreciate this in a few short words in a newsletter. NEWSLETTER No. 17 13th June 2019

Dear Parents, Friends and Students

Last weekend the Church celebrated the Feast of

Pentecost, a day which many call the birthday of the

Catholic Church. It was on this day that the Holy Spirit

came upon the apostles of Jesus and gave them gifts in

order to spread His message throughout the word. As

Catholic people we call on these same gifts in order to

YEAR 2 NEWS

During Religion we have read the story of Jesus in the Temple and have looked at how Jesus loved and obeyed his parents. The children were also amazed to learn that even at a young age, Jesus was a teacher.

Our classroom has been invaded by Monster Glyphs! The children created these amazing Monster Glyphs with Miss Bettridge during Digital Technology and have done an awesome job.

YEAR 5 NEWS

This week we have been further exploring and reading

Greek Myths. The two myths we focused on this week,

were “Arachne and Athena”, and “Daedalus and Icarus”.

We have been weaving on old CD’s like Arachne (who

Athena turned into a spider) and then, over the past two

days, we had fun but also lots of learning, creating a craft

to safely carry Icarus to freedom. There were some

amazing flying craft that glided to safety, though a few

crash landed and we thought that Icarus wouldn’t have

survived without some serious injuries. In Science the

Year 5s are investigating how animals adapt to their

environment and they are using their writing skills to

create an information report.

YEAR 3 NEWS

Our focus these last two weeks have turned to POETRY!

We have been engrossed in learning all about similies,

metaphors, alliteration, personification, onomatopoeia,

word play and other very exciting figurative language

techniques that can bring our writing to life. Stay tuned on

Seesaw to read the poems that we will be writing in the

coming weeks. We have also been busily turning into

little actors, comedians and singers in preparation for our

assembly on Friday morning. Please check Seesaw for

the latest note in regards to costumes. We hope to see

you all at our performance. A note in regards to our

upcoming excursion to Woolworths will be coming out

very soon. Please keep an eye out in your child’s

homework bag for the permission slip.
