John “Mike” Kelly (61) [email protected] Many thanks for your efforts with the

Bushy Park newsletter, it’s appreciated by many and I hope you keep it up. For some reason, I am no longer on the mailing list: John M. Kelly, class of 61, [email protected] – I’m the only Bushy Brat living in Singapore and maybe anywhere in Southeast Asia! Jerry Kelly, class of 59 has been sending me copies the last couple of months.

Our love and prayers go out to the

family and friends of our classmates who have gone on before us. We will miss them, yet we can find comfort in knowing that one-day we will all join them for the greatest of all reunions.

Look Who We Found

Doris (Hayes) Jordan (59) [email protected]

Pat Terpening (58) Owen [email protected] I’m going to try something new. Each month, I’ll give an update on a class,

this month 1954. Those FOUND, DECEASED and FOUND BUT ARE NOW LOST, as well as those who’ve never been found. If anyone has any information on any of those who haven’t been located, it would be appreciated if they could forward it to me (no matter how little it is – either parent’s name, a sibling, anything helps), I’ll then see if I can locate them. Also, if you’d like to contact one of the FOUNDS, just send me an e-mail. Thanks. Pat FOUND Roberta J. Adeska Glovin Gary Baldwin Craig Barnes Robert B. Patricia (Bushong) Boom (61) [email protected] Here is an article for the next newsletter. Thanks for continuing

this newsletter. You are doing a great job. I always love reading it. I remember being down at Grosvenor Square in 1960 watching the crane lift the 35 foot wingspread gold eagle to the top of the American Embassy. It was amazing to watch. As the Bird neared the top of the building the sun broke through the clouds momentarily highlighting its golden surface. The English really criticized the Bird calling it ugly, vulgar and unsuited for the Georgian style of the Square. I thought it was beautiful and still do every time we visit and I see it again.

American Embassy in London Constructed in 1960 I remember we used to go to movies in the basement of the Embassy. There are 9 floors in that building but only 6 are above ground to conform to heights of surrounding buildings. The remaining 3

floors are below ground. At this point in time the American Embassy has moved to another building in Grosvenor Square, but they are handling passports and visa and such at the existing building. The site for the new Embassy is in the Nine Elms area of the London Borough of Wandsworth, south of the River Thames and it is planned to be completed by 2017 or so.

New location in Nine Elms neighborhood,

Wandsworth, Vauxhall, South Bank, London. To open 2017

What I found interesting is that the existing Embassy in 2009 was granted Grade II listed status by the English Heritage. The listing means that the new owners will not be allowed to change the facade of the existing building which includes the 35 foot wingspread gilded-aluminum eagle above the main entrance. Yeah! The eagle stays. I will always see it when we visit. I heard that there is a possibility that it will become a hotel.

Suzanne (Garrison) Mayo (54) [email protected] Another interesting issue,

Gary. Thanks again. Did you tell me

that you are sending the newsletter to Kay Gfeller Smith? I think she still lives in Monroe, LA, but she never answers my emails. Did I tell you that we are loving our life in Texas?

Peggy (Corder) Johnson (54) [email protected] Hi Gary....Thanks again for another great issue! Have had a topsy turvy year....closed my store front location

of my "Petunia Patch Boutique" and am launching a "mobile" version with my fashion shows...calling it the Petunia Patch "Fashion Express" a traveling showroom for people on the go...fashions that move with the times! We will see if that works.

Billie (Culp) Bules (54) [email protected] Hi Gary: Good issue, with some interesting stories. Thanks. Also sounds great

that Pat is putting together lists from each class of those who have been found, etc. I'm looking forward to information on class of 1954 to see if there might be a classmate that has been missed so far. Thanks to Tish Devaughn for giving us the information on her sister Lani Devaughn, whom we had never located. I remember Lani as a sophisticated teen, well dressed, bright and friendly, although I didn't get to know her well. She did share top student honors with Sammy Myers at our graduation, but I am not positive about that. Perhaps another of our classmates might recall better than I. I'm sorry that now that we know something about Lani , it was good of Tish to fill us in, but sad news to know that she has passed on. And, I'm sorry that she missed all the good times our classmates have had over the years at our reunions. Gary, I am so glad that you continue to be the glue that holds us together. Thanks.

Hi Gary, As always, a great newsletter! So sorry to hear about Jack Carmichael. I have been in Arizona since before Christmas working at a Dinner Theatre in Mesa. This is a link to an article that was written online about my Granddaughter and me; she has been performing with me: http://phxstages.blogspot.com/2015/01/nanas-naughty-knickers-conversation.html?spref=fb We are just finishing up the show the article is about and getting ready to start rehearsals for a new show. We are scheduled to be here until the end of March.

Alice (Swanson) Sterling (59) [email protected] Hi Gary, Could you add a classmate from '59

to your growing list. Doris (Hayes) Jordan at [email protected]. She and I have finally re-connected after all these years and I mentioned how much I am enjoying all the memories from the Bushy grads. She would love to be included in your great monthly newsletter. Thanks a million and thanks again for sending along the copy of the Dec. issue. I will be forwarding that one onto to Doris as well.

Susan (Miller) Dalberg (62) [email protected] Great job, guys, but it always is! Eternal Duty Station got quite a

few more transfers. Yikes, we are all moving to the front of the line, eh? Hugs to both. (Editor’s Note: reminds me of a line Richard Burton spoke in the movie “The Longest Day” - “What worries me about being one of the few is the way we keep on getting fewer.”)

Study the picture first and then read the story.

This happened to an Englishman in France who was totally drunk. A French policeman stops the Englishman's car and asks if he has been drinking. With great difficulty, the Englishman admits that he has been drinking all day, that his daughter got married that morning, and that he drank champagne and a few bottles of wine at the reception, and many single malts scotches thereafter. Quite upset, the policeman proceeds to alcohol-test (breath test) the Englishman and verifies that he is indeed totally sloshed. He asks the Englishman if he knows why, under French Law, he is going to be arrested. The Englishman answers with a bit of humor, "No sir, I do not! But while we're asking questions, do you realize that this is a British car and that my wife is driving . . . . . on the other side?" To all my fellow “Vets”:
