LEADERS PERSPECTIVE

the Senior Missions Ministry of Bethel

Baptist Church hosts the Faith Promise

Conference each January and we are

very excited about what the Lord has in

store for all us this year with the confer-

ence.

The ultimate goal of the conference is to

raise awareness in our church and com-

munity about foreign missions work and

the responsibility of all true Christians

to give financial support to this work.

The scriptures tell us that our Lord Jesus

will not return until the Good News

about the Gospel of Jesus Christ has

been preached in the uttermost parts of

the earth. It costs some money to pur-

chase airplane tickets, to rent lodging in

foreign lands, to purchase humanitarian

supplies to give to those in need, etc.

The conference will focus on these

topics and more.

If you have never really been a support-

er of foreign missions or attended a

Faith Promise Conference, we cordially

invite you to make 2012 the year you do

so. The time grows short for the return

of our King Jesus and we all want to be

found faithful by Him. There is so

much work needing to be done and so

many people who have yet to be told the

Gospel, each one of us is needed to

accomplish this task and everyone can

and should do their part.

Some people have the false idea that

taking part in missions is just for the

older people. This is a myth that must

be broken, everybody is needed. The

children of our church have an on-going

mission project to build an orphanage in

Haiti. World missions work is for all

age groups, and all age groups need to

hear about receiving salvation. We

need everyone to step up to the plate

and do their part. My driving concern is

that we all be unified. We spend too

much time on our differences, some-

thing that does not get people saved.

We will always be different, but in

Jesus Christ we have common ground

to be unified for a holy purpose.

Please join with me this year in promot-

ing unity of purpose for the sake of

foreign missions and evangelism as we

boldly go forth to ensure the gospel is

preach abroad. The Faith Promise Con-

ference exists for you, to encourage you

and help give focus to world missions

and evangelism. Lets’ stay unified to

maximize our impact as we do our part

to share Jesus around the world.

God Bless you all richly,

African nations, Ethiopia, Kenya, and

South Sudan. Saints, God truly blessed

us and opened awesome doors of minis-

try. We must and will go back by the

grace of God and preach the Gospel

through every open door. Our hosts in

each nation were gracious and attentive.

The saints it was our privilege to share

the gospel with were hungry for the

Word of God. The pastors, leaders, and

military officers who attended our spe-

cial meetings for them, wanted the Word

and attentively listened to the teachings

on the hundredfold harvest. The sights

and sounds of each nation we visited,

was of course different from our own

and we thank God for allowing us to go

and have the experience. We could not

go unless the people of God send us and

God open the doors. This was not a five

star hotel trip, this was ministry. We

need some of you to say “yes” to God,

be obedient, and go with us. The needs

are great and space is available for those

who God has called to come and go with

us as we seek to share Jesus with those

who do not know Him. I personally

thank each of you for your faithfulness

and for all that you do. The Lord sees it

and will not forget your sacrifice and

diligence to serve Him. God Bless you

all in 2012 one hundredfold!

cal, and much more. We will be hav-

ing our National Baptist Convention,

USA, Inc, President Dr. Julius R.

Scruggs as the 11:00 am speaker at our

Mid-Morning Worship Service on

September 23, 2012. Please save that

date and tell everyone you know so that

they may come and hear our National

President preach the gospel. We are

grateful to the Lord that He has blessed

us to produce the first issue of Majesty

Magazine International of 2012. This

is our Faith Promise Conference issue

and is sponsored by the Blessed Circle

of the Missions Ministry. Our confer-

ence speakers this year are Rev. Joseph

Jean-Gilles, Minister Kenneth Johnson,

Minister Lessie Brown, and Minister

Daniel Menyon. Come out and hear

these men of god and woman of god as

they minister the Word. Please be

diligent to pray for Sister Regina

Greenlee Conference Chair, Minister

Betty Hunn Conference Co-Chair, and

the members of the Blessed Circle as

they seek to lift up the name of Jesus

through their labor of love on behalf of

the conference.

We have just returned from our Eastern

Africa World Missions and Evangelism

mission journey. We ministered in 3

New Years greetings to all of God’s

Royal Saints, I give God thanks for

everything He graciously allowed us to

accomplish in 2011, both locally and

globally. He has given our church the

spiritual mandate to be a “Mother

Church” that reaches out locally, na-

tionally, and internationally to believers

and non-believers with the Gospel of

Jesus Christ. This Apostolic calling is

not something we take lightly, and I ask

each of you in your prayer time to pray

about Bethel’s Apostolic Mother

Church calling. Please pray about your

God given role in helping to fulfill the

plans and purposes of God surrounding

this calling. The work of the Lord must

have our top priority and prayer is al-

ways our starting point.

This year our church celebrates its 90th

anniversary and we are gearing up to

put on a really great celebration that

will please God. We are calling it our

Gala 90th Church Anniversary Celebra-

tion and we want every member of our

church regardless of age to take part. If

no one has contacted you about being

on a committee, please contact Trustee

Octavia Ellis, Gala 90th Anniversary

Chairperson or Rosa Maxwell, Gala 90th

Anniversary Co-Chairperson, and they

will be happy to add you to a commit-

tee. Our plans include a Gala Banquet,

Commemorative Souvenir Journal, a

To all of our wonderful Bethel

Family and our many friends, I

take this opportunity to wish you

a Happy and Prosperous New

Year in the Lord, on behalf of the

members of the Blessed Circle

and our Leader, Deaconess Delois

Bellamy. The Blessed Circle of

C hicken feet, hush pup-

pies, R. J. Taylor’s black-

eye peas & cornbread, tandoori

chicken, pansit, enchiladas, jam-

balaya, lasagna, fried rice, chicken

curry, Will Gaston’s roast beef

and gravy, pizza, lumpia, collard

greens, egg rolls, Mattie Taylor’s

pound cake, fried pie, chicken

adobo, chicken wings, peanut but-

ter chicken, bar-be-que, hummus,

etc. This is a small list of the deli-

cious specialty foods which have

been served in years past at the

Mission Ministry’s annual Inter-

national Festival; a totally awe-

some food fest extravaganza.

Foods from Africa, Asia, Central

America, the Pacific Islands, East-

ern Europe, South America, the

Caribbean, Europe, North Ameri-

ca, etc. have appeared on the load-

ed banquet tables in years past.

Dorcas, Ruth, Blessed, Naomi,

Pearl Frye, and Lydia Circle mem-

bers out do themselves year after

year with the delicious variety of

international cuisine they provide

at the Festival. The opportunity to

fellowship with the saints in a re-

laxed atmosphere of fun and con-

geniality makes the event a “do

not miss,” occasion. If you have

never attended, you have really

been missing out on a great time.

The various banquet tables are

beautifully decorated with cultural

items representing the nation or

people group the food being

served originates from. The idea

is that each person attending the

Festival will visit each table/

county and get a “sample/taste” of

what is being served, then move

on to the next country. The prob-

lem is, you only have two hands

which means you can comfortably

carry two loaded plates. Howev-

er, by the time you have visited

only half of the countries, both

plates will be full to over flowing

even if you follow the rules and

get only a “taste/sample” of what

is being offered. The ticket dona-

tion is $15.00 for adults and you

can taste and sample to your

heart’s content. Why does the

Senior Mission Ministry lead by

Missionary Barbara O. Williams

host this event? They are using it

as a fun visual way to draw atten-

tion to world missions and evan-

gelism. We in America often

think only of “Us four and no

more,” “me and mine.” There is a

whole world out there that needs

to hear about the saving grace of

Jesus Christ. The money raised

from the International Festival

goes directly into the work of

world missions and evangelism.

of the Sunday School

Ministry plans and

hosts Bethel Baptist Church’s

“Senior Citizen Recognition

Day.” The event was the creation

and brain child of Minister Betty

R. Hunn back in the late 1980’s.

She wanted to set aside a Sunday

and dedicate it to honoring, thank-

ing, and appreciating the seniors

of Bethel Baptist Church.

Initially a luncheon menu featur-

ing tuna and chicken salads with

assorted crackers, veggies, dips,

cheeses, and jell-o was served.

Today a full deluxe hot meal is

provided for all of those who are

55 years of age and up. Minister

Hunn chaired the event for 3

years, then passed the baton on to

Rev. Donna Hayes who chaired

the event for more than 15 years

with the able assistance of Minis-

ter Hunn, Trustee Mozella

Brown, Deaconess Delois Bella-

my, Cheryl Williams, Deacons

Rodney Collins, Simon Forbes,

and Martin Bellamy; Bernell

Boyd, and so many others.

This year the event is chaired by

Sister Cheryl Williams who will

continue the tradition with her

usual spirit of excellence. There

will be a special program during

the Sunday School hour dedicated

to honoring our seniors in the

Worship Center, from 9:30 am to

10:30 am. The event is always

held on Valentine’s Day Sunday

or the Sunday right before Valen-

tine’s Day if it does not fall on a

Sunday. Seniors are our official

sweethearts.

Minister Betty Hunn’s vision to ap-

preciate and thank the precious Royal

Senior Saints of Bethel, is an occa-

sion in the life of our church that is a

labor of love that pleases God. The

Word declares we should give honor

to whom honor is due. The Seniors

of Bethel are truly due the thanks,

honor, and appreciation we take the

time to give them on Senior Citizen

Recognition Day. We give God all

the glory for blessing us with all of

our beloved seniors who have blazed

a trail before us and lightened our

load. We love and appreciate you all.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

E very man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly or of

necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." II Corinthians 9:7

Believers are asked to contribute, in faith, to the evangelistic arm of the church.

Without realizing the full scope of making a Faith Promise, many members choose to indicate a specific

amount towards world missions. Others hesitate, feeling that by filling out the information asked for;

they are pledging an amount and will be stricken down by God if they don't follow through.

Let's clarify those thoughts; a faith promise is strictly between you and God. It is not a pledge nor will

anyone call on you to collect. It is a promise to God verifying your monetary commitment to world

evangelism. If you cannot give as promised, then you tell God alone. Only God and you will know.

It is waiting before the Lord for His instruction as to what He wants you to give in reaching the world with

the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. It must be carried on by faith that God will supply for other things which

arise in your life as you proceed in giving what you promised Him.

Its sole purpose is to support the work of world evangelism which is commanded by our Lord and Savior,

Jesus Christ. It makes a spiritual thing more meaningful and establishes true consecration as the only valid

basis for sharing with God our means.

Step out in faith and trust God and see what He has for you. Remember this is a promise, not a pledge.

Purpose in your heart and watch the Lord move!

By Minister Betty R. Hunn

FAITH PROMISE PURPOSE What Is The Faith Promise Aim?

First, it is not to glorify individuals or organizations, but Christ and Him alone.

Its sole purpose is to support the work of world evangelization commanded by our coming Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (Mark 16:15)

It is useful in bringing us into a more closely dependent and blessed fellowship with Christ.

(Philippians 3:10-14) We become co-laborers with Him (2 Corinthians 5:14) trusting God to do something.

Our Purpose: To be an agent of God’s Grace to bring spiritual maturity to all people.

O n Monday, November 14, 2011, the Bethel Baptist

Church’s World Missions team departed for East Africa

under the leadership of Deacon Billy and Minister Florence Moore.

Team members Minister Lessie Brown and Sister Anita Day accompa-

nied the Moore’s, Senior Pastor John W. Ringgold and Rev. Donna

Ringgold joined them five days later. Following is an account of this

missionary journey mainly through the eyes of Minister Lessie Brown,

with some input from Rev. Donna Ringgold and Minister Florence

Moore. The advance team arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Tuesday,

November 15th. Our host, Pastor Getu, met us and took us to our hotel,

The Kings. Our accommodations were not 5-star, but clean and com-

fortable. The next day we began preparing for the arrival of Pastor

Ringgold and Rev. Donna Ringgold. Days three and four were spent

by us securing all transportation and security needs, locating banks

where money could be exchanged, finding suitable stores that were

near our hotel, and restaurants where the team could eat. The food in

Ethiopia was fine; their menus had vegan and vegetarian dishes includ-

ing a veggie pizza which was very good. The people were friendly and

proud of their nation’s accomplishments. Many of their buildings were

modern and they mainly dressed in western clothing. Their fervent

praise and worship was wonderful, it was long lasting and involved

clapping, loud singing, and lots of dancing. They really honor the Lord

with their heartfelt fervent praise and worship. While driving through

the streets of Addis Ababa I observed the many tall buildings and nu-

merous cars on the street which I was glad to see. Africa on television

is depicted with fighting, devastation, and abject poverty. That was not

the case in Addis Ababa; I was happy to see a beautiful country and its

people. On day five Pastor Getu took us to the Addis Kiban Baptist

Church of Semen Gebeya located in the village of Kechne. There were

80 or more children waiting to see us ages 3 to 12 years old. Deacon

Moore spoke for the team and conducted a boxing class with both girls

and boys. Pastor Getu requested help to buy food (milk with a meal

costing $3.00 weekly per child), clothes, school supplies, medicine,

shoes for 30 children, school uniforms, and shoe shine boxes for chil-

dren 12 or older to provide a means of supporting themselves. On day

six Pastor Tesfa took us to Pastors Getu and Ayel’s church, M.K.C.,

which means “Our Foundation Is Christ.” We attended their 10:30 a.m.

Sunday services where 200 were present, then their 3:30 pm services

where 121 people were present. The speakers were Pastor Getu, Pastor

Ayel, and Pastor Ringgold. Four people gave their hearts to Christ for

the first time; 10 came forward to rededicate their lives to know the

Hundredfold Kingdom of God; and many came forward to receive the

laying on of hands. On day seven we went to an area called Mexico, to

attend a 3 day Pastor’s Training Conference at Pastor Mezbubu’s

church, Emanuel Church. Dr. Ringgold ministered at two sessions on

“Introduction to the 21st Century Revelation of the Hundredfold Har-

vest.” Present were evangelists, teachers, and pastors from 50 church-

es; 75 leaders were in attendance. The next day Dr. Ringgold taught

the morning session, Deacon Billy and Minister Florence Moore the

afternoon session, and Minister Lessie Brown and Sister Anita Day the

evening session. Day three of the conference was taught by Pastor

Ringgold and at the end certificates were awarded. Day ten we trav-

elled to Juba, South Sudan’s capitol city. The next day we met our

host, Pastor Moses Lueth from the ECS Church. Pastor Ringgold

taught a two day class made up of chaplains, police, fire, and military

personnel, with the great majority being military. The Hundredfold

Harvest was taught and those present were brigadier generals, captains,

colonels, etc, all of whom fought in the recent war. The next day the

class concluded and 75 certificates of completion were awarded and

very enthusiastically received. Accommodations in South Sudan were

safe but rustic; toilet facilities were challenging and the rooms were not

the American standard of cleanliness. This is mission work and this is

the mission field, every type of bug and insect imaginable was seen in

South Sudan. We ate only the food provided by the hotel; it was veg-

gies, spicy spaghetti, salad, and some native dishes. The people were

very friendly and proud to have their own country, a Christian nation.

They recently split from the Muslim north after a deadly, ugly, and

bitter war of several decades. Their nation was formed this past July

2011 with help from the international community and they welcomed

our presence. Day 13 Pastor Moses took us to Sunday services at The

Center for all Chaplains Church in a village in the Juba area. Pastor

Paul Chal Deng had over 571 members who came to hear Pastor

Ringgold preach. They packed out the church and the area outside

entrances and windows. Ten people came forward to give their life to

Jesus, and over 50 requested prayer. Pastor Deng asked for financial

assistance to expand the church space so it could hold more people.

Day 14 the team travelled to Nairobi, Kenya. We originally came to

Kenya to do mission work at the Dadaab Refugee Camp (located 300

miles north of Nairobi) containing over 400,000 Somali refugees. The

Kenyan government stopped all visits because 2 aide workers had been

kidnapped by Somali rebels; the road leading to the camp was being

bombed; and there was armed fighting inside the camp. We could not

pursue visiting the camp. Day 15 our guide Susan Mwadime, took us

to the city of Embakasi where the House of Bread International Gospel

Evangelistic Church of Kenya pastored by Yoka Tehcu is located.

They have a membership of over 1,000. The church was hosting their

Grand Rendezvous 2011 Conference. We did not know about the con-

ference in advance, but Pastor Ringgold graciously accepted an invita-

tion to speak. Other guest speakers at the conference were Bishop

Anosike from Lagos, Nigeria, Pastor Olam from Tanzania, and Pastor

Suzanne from Kimilili, Kenya. The people really got into praise and

worship there; they dance, dance, and dance until the sweat is running

down from giving their all. On day 17 Pastor Ringgold preached at the

House of Bread Church; then we went straight to the airport to begin

our journey home. After a long layover in London, England, we came

back to the United States. This mission journey was very successful.

The team touched a lot of lives with the preached Word and the people

are very hungry, so we must do as Jesus commanded and feed His

Sheep.

T he School of Evangelism is gearing up to begin its winter session. Starting Friday

February 10th and continuing the 17, 24, March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, and April 13th you are given the wonderful opportunity to take classes 101 through 106. It works like this; sign-up to take one class each semester in comfortable learning atmosphere where questions and class participation are desired and encouraged. The teachers are friendly, help-ful, and eager to be a great spiritual blessing to each student enrolled in their class.

Each lesson is structured to help you maximize your learning experience. The teachers will help you navigate through the curriculum materials which are an easy read and written for clear un-derstanding. The Bible instructs believers to tell others about the saving grace of Jesus. However, the question is, how can you be obedient to the Word if you do not know how to be effective in telling others about Jesus? The School of Evan-gelism is set up to meet this need. The Bible also instructs us to study to show ourselves approved; well the School of Evangelism provides a vehicle where you can receive guided study.

The tuition for all classes in the School of Evan-gelism is only $10.00. This includes all the books needed for your classes (workbook & textbook). Each class lasts 2 hours, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. and is always on Fridays. The Fall Semester begins September 14 and ends November 16th. People from the community are welcome to at-tend, so you are encouraged to invite family, friends, relatives, neighbors, club members, and co-workers. Right now we are enrolling students for our Spring Semester classes. Call the church of-fice to sign-up so that we may properly prepare

for you and order enough curriculum materials. Deacon Roger Cain is the President of the School of Evangelism and Kathy Cain is the administra-tor of the school. They and their teaching staff extend a personal invitation to you to enroll in the School of Evangelism and be blessed spiritually.

T he Senior Pastor,

officers, and members

of Bethel Baptist

Church in a unified

decision, have decided to pay off

our existing mortgage by the year

2015. The master plan to achieve

this objective includes as the

primary vehicle the Mortgage 300

Program. The short version that

explains the Program is this;

Every adult member of Bethel

Baptist Church commit to giving

either $30.00, $60.00, or $100.00

extra each month to the Building

Fund, until the final payment in

Spring of 2015.

The key is “extra.” Currently most

of us are giving to the church on a

regular basis to more than one line

item printed on the church offering

envelope. Maybe you give Tithes,

Offering, and Faith Promise

donations. Maybe you give Grace

Gifts, and $5.00 a month to the

Building Fund. The Mortgage 300

Program is seeking for you to

continue to give in all the areas

you have been, and the same

amount you have been. What

would be added to your usual

giving is an extra $30.00, $60.00,

or $100.00 each month to the

Building Fund. If you are already

giving to the Building Fund, bring

your donation to at least $30.00

each month.

The other areas you have been

giving to in the past are very

important and they too need your

continued support. This is why the

Mortgage 300 Program is an

“extra” or “new” financial

commitment we are asking every

adult member in the church to

make.

Our unity of purpose is very

powerful and always has been.

Over our 90 years of history we

have been blessed by God our

Father to hold several mortgage

burning ceremonies. Our next

mortgage burning ceremony will

take place in the spring of 2015 to

the glory of God.

Maybe you have some

questions such as “Do I have to

give every month? Can I give my

commitment in lump sums?” No,

you do not have to give your

Mortgage 300 donation every

month if you would prefer to give

it in lump sums. For example, if

your commitment is $100.00

monthly, you are welcome to give

a $1,200.00 lump sum, or a

$300.00 quarterly sum, or a ½

yearly sum of $600.00, etc. The

program is flexible.

“Can I split my commitment in half

and make two payments each

month?” Yes, you can. For

example, if your commitment is

$60.00 each month, you might

choose to give $30.00 every two

weeks or $15.00 each week.

“What if I miss a month? Can I

make it up the following month?”

Yes, you may. “Does my

commitment have to be $30.00,

$60.00, or $100.00? Can I give

some other amount not listed?”

Yes, maybe you would prefer to

commit to $45.00 monthly, or

$150.00 monthly, or $33.00

monthly. You are welcome to

choose the amount you have the

leading of the Lord to give.

“What if I am not able to give

$30.00 each month?” Take a step

of faith and give on a regular basis

what you can, no matter how

small. Pray and ask the Lord to

give you seed to sow and to bring

you up to the $30.00 monthly level

of giving. He is faithful and will

do it if you ask Him in faith and

follow through and give.

The success of the Mortgage 300

program rests on everyone doing

their part. God will always do His

part, but we must do ours also.

The Mortgage 300 Program is our

collective seed sown into the

Kingdom of God so that Bethel

Baptist Church will reap a harvest

of being debt/mortgage free to the

glory of God. It all starts with

you!

May God richly bless you 100 fold

as you are faithful and obedient to

give.
