a message from Apostle Price

This year marks 35 years of Ever Increasing Faith Ministries. I can take no credit of my own becauseit is god who has sustained us all these years. When people ask how we have managed to stay on televi-sion for more than three decades, I tell them it’s obedience to god. The decision to go on the air startedwith instruction from god and I haven’t strayed from what He’s told me to do. His instruction was sim-ple: teach His Word. That’s it. That’s all. No music. No frills. Just the Word of god.

If god wants you to do something specifically, He will let you know. If He does not let you know, simply wait until He does. But at least make your talents and abilities available to Him. Because we’ve

stuck to what god told me to do, we are still here and yet increasing. Wecan truly say that this is an ever increasing ministry.

Many Christians are just as they were five years ago or when they firstgot saved. They are not increasing. In order to increase, you must applythe Word in your life. To increase, you must read the Word each time ina fresh light, as if you had never read it before. That way, you will alwaysfind insight and knowledge that you did not have. If you do not expect tofind anything new in the Word, you will not find it. Even after all theseyears of teaching, god’s Word is still fresh to me.

If you are "grounded and settled," you can continue in the faith, Paulsaid. However, many Christians are not grounded and settled. That isthe way babies are, happy one day and crying the next. If you are havingtrouble along this line, let me tell you how to get grounded and settled. You do it by learning the Word of god. That will keep you from beingmoved by every wind of doctrine that comes up.

let the winds blow, and the clouds gather, you can stand in the eyeof the storm and say, "In the name of Jesus, peace be still." When you are a baby Christian, you tend tofall apart when a storm arises. But someone who is grounded and settled in the Word will not be moved.

one problem in the Church down through the ages has been "self-made" minis-ters. Paul said, . . . “whereof I Paul am made a minister." Paul did not say he haddecided to become a minister, or that he had made himself one. Too many ministersare self-made, or parent-made or spouse-made and, consequently, they have noanointing. Many ministers go to seminaries to get degrees for careers in theministry. They believe the degree makes them a minister, but that is not true.Wait for god to make you a minister. Then your ministry will bear fruit.

or 35 years, ApostleFrederick K.C. Price and theEver Increasing Faith Ministries

broadcast has been a mainstay on Christiantelevision. This is success—especially in lightof the fact that Price says he never aspired to beon television and that a long-time televisionexecutive told him that simply teaching fromthe Bible on television would never work.

In the mid 1970s, Kenneth Copeland wasin California and came by Crenshaw ChristianCenter’s original location in Inglewood. Headmired the church building and asked hisfriend Apostle Price if he could tape a specialTV broadcast there. By this time, Price hadbeen teaching and pastoring for a number ofyears and felt the lord told him to start a tele-vision broadcast where he was simply to teachthe Word.

“Copeland told me he had a person whotook care of all his television work and whohad been in secular TV for many years. Ithought, “I’ll be able to ask this guy about howto do what god has called me to do.” Whenthe guy came out, I had an opportunity to pullhim to the side and talk to him. You knowwhat he told me? “That won’t work. That will

never fly. Nobody is going to sit and watch youteach the Bible for an hour.” He said you haveto have some variety and music. But I knew inmy heart that god told me to do this.”

Price figured that if people were gettingout of their warm beds and lining up at

5:00 in the morning for the 8:00 serv-ice, then they’d be likely to stay in

their warm beds to watch the pro-gram. From there, he startedresearching how to get on televi-sion and eventually hired a remotecompany to film the program andpackage it.

The first Ever IncreasingBroadcast aired in los Angeles in1978.

“god told me to go on TV,”explains Price. “He told me teach,

don’t preach. He said “don’t make itchurch in the home via television but

just teach.”Just as god instructed, he expanded

the broadcast to Detroit, Chicago,Washington DC, and New York. 35 years laterPrice is still following these instructions.

He attributes the show’s longevity to thefact that it was god’s design and knowingwhat his assignment is—something he says helearned early on in his walk with god.Interestingly, Price says becoming a pastor, much less a televangelist—was never part ofhis dreams as a child. In fact, he says he didn’tdo much dreaming about his future growingup in Santa Monica, CA.

“Sad to say I didn't have any dreams,” hepoints out. “I came out of a very dysfunctionalhome situation where my parents were at oddswith one another. I basically lived day to dayand never really had any serious thoughtsabout the future. So I never really had anydreams about what I would be doing in life.”

Price became born again in the 1950s afterfollowing his wife to a tent revival service. Butit wasn’t until February 28, 1970 that his min-istry really took flight when he was filled withthe Holy Spirit. Crenshaw Christian Center,

the church he founded in1973, has grown from a fewhundred members to well over20,000.

In 1984, Crenshaw ChristianCenter outgrew its original Inglewoodfacility and purchased the formerPepperdine University los Angeles campus. After years of holding three services on Sundayin the Main Auditorium, construction on theFaithdome began in 1986, finished in 1989,and was dedicated on January 21, 1990. TheFaithdome is one of the largest church sanctu-aries in the United States, with seating for a lit-tle under 10,000 people.

In addition, in 1990, Price founded theFellowship of Inner City Word of FaithMinistries (FICWFM, which has since beenrenamed to the Fellowship of InternationalChristian Word of Faith Ministries due to itsgrowth and global reach). Members ofFICWFM include churches from all over theUnited States and various countries. TheFellowship, which meets regionally through-out the year and hosts an annual convention, isnot a denomination.

In May 2001, Apostle Price fulfilled a visionhe had for many years byestablishing an EastCoast Church inManhattan where hetaught weekly BibleStudies. The New YorkC h u r c h - C r e n s h a wChristian Center East-began fulltime Sundayworship services in 2003

Price has achievedgreat success in min-istry—and he’s managedto do it all without scan-dal or compromise.

“I made it up in mymind early on that I wasgoing to live what I preach,” he states. “one ofmy first speaking engagements was with theFull gospel Business Men and we had to go

to several cities on a cir-cuit. At that time, I went by

myself and it took meabout 3 minutes to fig-

ure out “I ain’t a loner,”he says lighthearted-ly. “When I cameback and I talked toour church board Itold them I’m notgoing on the roadby myself anymoreso my wife alwaystraveled with me.That’s one of the

things that kept me.I’ve been tempted but

I’ve never yielded to it.”At 81 years old, Price

is still traveling and teach-ing god’s Word—with no signs

of slowing down.“At this point, I don’t know what else to do

but what I do,” he says. “This is life to me, thisis living to me. All of the things I’ve taught, I’velived by. The Word has brought us frompoverty to wealth, from sickness to health,

from fear to fearless-ness. And it’s workedjust so well. So manyother Christians justsurvive. They love thelord, they may havehad a genuine conver-sion experience withthe lord Jesus Christbut their lives are juststruggle. My wife andI started out with thestruggle until I got ahold of the real Wordand began to teach it. Ican’t be phony. I haveto be what I teach. I

can’t be one thing and then teach anotherthing. I’m my own best customer. It’s reallybeen a wonderful life.” — EIF

pastor’s corner

he glory of god is an expressionused throughout the Bible, but forthe most part it is assumed that peo-

ple know what it means. one cannot ade-quately describe god’s glory because theglory of god is really beyond describing and isdifficult to comprehend with our finite minds. The word glory translated from the Hebrewlanguage is the word Kabod, which carriesthe meaning weightiness or heavy, power, honor, dignity, authority, magnificence, fame, and excellence. Kabod is also god’s majestyand His visible splendor.

When I began to study the glory of god orthe glory of the lord, the scripture that stoodout was Habakkuk 2:14, “for the earth will befilled with the knowledge of the glory of thelord, As the waters cover the Sea. “

The word knowledge used here in scrip-ture is the Hebrew word yada, which meansto ascertain by seeing, observation and recog-nition. This clearly shows us that we willphysically see, observe and recognize god’sglory.

The glory of god is an actual observablething and while in god’s presence His glory ismagnified. The presence of god is the activemanifestation of Him that dominates the envi-

r o n -ment. Weshould desireto be in His pres-ence because in His presence there is fullnessof joy. When god’s presence comes, He willreveal His glory.

The Childrenof Israel experi-enced His pres-ence when Herevealed Himselfthrough a pillar ofcloud by day anda pillar of fire bynight (Ex 13:21);they also experi-

enced god’s glory when He parted the RedSea (Ex 14:13-19). When we experience god’smanifested presence, we know His holiness, and when we experience His glory we knowHis power. (Acts 13:17).

be visible andbring god glory. After being deliv-ered fromE g y p t i a nbondage theChildren of Israelarrived at Mount Sinai and Moses went upto talk with god and to receive instructions.

In Exodus 19:4-5 god instructed Mosesto tell the people if they obey My voice andkeep My covenant they would be a specialtreasure to Him, this words special treasurein the KJV is the word peculiar, the Hebrewword for peculiar is segullah which meansprized possession, personal property. Wealso see in 1st Peter 2:9, but you are a chosengeneration, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and His own special people.

Being a member of a chosen generation,an elect race we are considered priests, which is indicative of having a privilegedaccess to god, and the privilege to ministerto others in the name of Jesus Christ. Thisgives every believer immediate access to godin the name of Jesus. We also have the privi-lege and responsibility of interceding foranother before god, and representing thelove god to the people by witnessing andteaching, this is truly operating in god’sglory!

god is seeking people who will praiseHim, not because He needs it but because itis an indication of a loving relationship. It isus who need to praise the lord, not onlybecause it is a command, but because there issomething within us that cannot survivewithout it. our Heavenly Father wants apeople who will walk with him in prayer, march with Him in praise, worship Him forwho He is, and display His glory to all flesh(Ps. 150:2, Hebrews 13:15.)

The revelation of the power within theglory will become a powerful active force inthe Body of Christ when we tap into Hisglory. We will experience more supernaturalmanifestations of the glory of god in our

midst. It is thedesire of JesusChrist that Hisfollowers dothe work thatHe did, andgreater workswhich includeboth bringingpeople into thekingdom andallowing theglory to be seenupon us!—EIF

or many Christian athletes, agroup prayer usually followsthe game. Sometimes we

actually forget to take the time outto properly give thanks andacknowledge our Heavenly Fatherthe way we should in all walks oflife, much less after a hard-foughtgame. The late legendary UClAmen’s basketball coach JohnWooden once said, "Talent is god-given; be thankful. Praise is man-given; be humble. Conceit is self-given; be careful." It bothers mewhen superstars glorify themselvesinstead of using their gifts andinfluence to glorify god.

Being an alumnus of louisianaState University, I was around Division I ath-letes often. It was hard not to get caught up insports hype at such a prominent school wherechampionships were won yearly. Student ath-letes are treated as if they are already profes-sionals. This causes enormous egos in youngadults who know nothing about fame and howto properly handle it. Being praised amongstyour peers can be an awesome feeling, but adangerous one as well. Without proper guid-ance and leadership, young people can easilyget caught up in their own hype.

Athletes have to make a choice betweentwo paths. one path leads them into a worldthat calls them amazing, giving them a sense ofhubris and self-entitlement. The other leadsthem in to the righteous path. After reading

genesis 12:2, we learn that god willmake your name great, not you, noryour fans, coaches, teammates, friends, relatives etc. god will do it.

Unfortunately we live in a socie-ty where sports are a matter of lifeand death, instead of Man whodied for our sins on Calvary. Sportsare a big deal in our American cul-ture. We tend to give sports priorityover the things that really matter inour life, such as our families, spiritu-al lives and even our education.Professional athletes love the atten-tion. They even feel like it’s themthat you’re coming to watch and notthe team. Professional athletesshould look at sports as an opportu-

nity for them to acknowledge the talents andgifts our Heavenly Father has blessed themwith. Wouldn't that be the ideal job? Beingable to do what you love, while spreading thegospel to millions? If we were to do that, godwill look at us and say “job well done my goodand faithful servant.” Regular sports fans canbe turned into spiritual fans by introducingthem to god the Father.

We are here to save lost souls and spreadthe gospel of Jesus Christ in every way. TimTebow, the spiritual quarterback of the NewYork Jets, comes to mind when it comes tobeing the ideal Christian athlete. I've had achance to see Tebow compete at a high levelfor the last seven years. He’s won two nationalchampionships and a Heisman trophy at the

University of Florida. He thenwas drafted by the Denver Broncosand became the talk of the league afterleading them to a playoff victory inhis first season. But more impres-sively, he has always stayed humbleand given god the glory. In everyinterview I've ever watched, he hasalways made sure to thank god, even whenthe reporters are trying to praise him on hisperformance. Tebow has enough discipline toknow his fame and material possessions won’tbe with him when he goes to heaven.

While at Florida, Tebow would put scrip-tures on his eye black, such as John 3:16 orProverbs 3:5-6. In 2009, he wore John 3:16 onhis eye black during a game. In the next 24hours, John 3:16 had over 90 million googlesearches. That one act of standing up for godthrough wearing simple eye black had himreaching the masses. Tebow said, "It justgoes to show you the influence and the plat-form that you have as a student-athlete and asa quarterback at Florida."

Another name comes to mind when I thinkof the ideal Christian athlete, and that’s theSuper Bowl Champion Ray lewis. I haven’tfollowed his career as closely as Tebow’s, butafter making his retirement announcement latelast season, pretty much every network startedacknowledging Rays impact on the game. Not only were they showing his career high-lights on the field, but they also aired severalinterviews he’s done over the years. Cominginto the NFl as young big shot linebacker out

o fthe University of

Miami, unfortunately he got off on thewrong foot. one night in Atlanta while

out with some friends at a night club, Raywas caught in the wrong place at the wrong

time. As Ray and some friends entered thelimo leaving the night club, a fight broke outbetween lewis, his companions, and anothergroup of people in the parking lot leaving oneyoung man stabbed to death. All accusationspointed to Ray lewis saying he had some-thing to do with the young man being mur-dered. Eventually Ray went to trial and wasfound NoT gUIlTY. I believe this particu-lar incident completely changed Ray’s and hisoutlook of life. He began being not only aleader on the field, but off the field as well. Hemade it his goal to reach the young players andtalk to them about god. Some of his old team-mates even call him a motivational speakerbecause he is anointed to do what he does.Ray’s impact on the game of football will liveon forever both on the field and off the field.

Christian athletes should be seen asuncommon men and women of god. You’resupposed to stand out—it’s by divine purpose.god's plan for your life is uniquely designedjust for you. He knew you would excel insports and have this wonderful avenue for youto minister His Word through sports. luke12:48 says to who much is given, much isrequired. Athletes should be role models and

do more than just play sports for a living.Professional athletes sometimes forget

how much influence they really have.Athletes have to become true leaders of notjust their sport, but of their families, church-es, communities, friends and work place. With that leadership, they have shown theworld how awesome god is and what Hecan do for those who serve and obey Him. Iwould like to see Christian athletes start hav-ing bible study groups amongst players andcoaches, to take their minds off sports. lifeshould be bigger than just sports, especiallywhen you've already made it to the profes-sional level.

Christian athletes should be filled withthe Holy Spirit and saturate their lockerrooms with the Word of god. guys shouldbe asking one another for godly advice ontheir marriages, families, finances, relation-ships and of course their spiritual walk. It’s

important for them to let the world know thegod we serve and how good He is.

If I can get one message across to all ath-letes of all ages, it’s that people aren't goingto be fired up about god if you don't seemfired up about Him. You should want to letyour life show people what it means to be anupright Christian. People should see some-thing so appealing in you that you can thenuse that appeal and tell them about the lord.We have to have a clear-cut understandingthat sports are a vocation and an opportuni-ty for ministry, but it’s not life itself. Whileyou’re playing your sport, making a positiveimpact on people’s lives and glorifying godwhile doing it, you'll end up being tremen-dously satisfied with your life. Now that’strue significance at its finest. That’s what Icall a winner, a buzzer beater, a champion

and a Christian athlete.—EIF

was born into a Nazarene family andaccepted the lord at a young age. I wastaught there are two works of grace: sal-vation and “entire” sanctification. The

way I heard it, every time I sinned, I felt I hadto repent and get saved all over again. I aboutwore out the carpet to the altar in our church.I spoke with one of my uncles when he was85, just two years before he went to be withthe lord, and he always had the sameimpression.

Somewhere in the late 1960’s I completelyleft “church.” I had a horrific marriage. Shedid not honor our vows, and every pastor I

sought for counseling told me the very samething, “only god knows. His ways are higherthan ours, and we will find all the answerswhen we get to heaven.” I wouldn’t needthem in heaven. I needed them NoW.

on July 15, 1979, at the age of 35, I was sit-ting in an easy chair on my patio, with a ciga-rette in one hand, and a glass of Scotch in theother. Sitting there that afternoon, I made alast ditch effort to find a way to have a vitalrelationship with the lord.

I called out and told Him, “You eitherhave to be the biggest hoax ever pulled onmankind, or I have to be totally stupid about

I then told Him, “I will go anywhere youwant me to go, and I will do anything youwant me to do. I just want to really know you,but it can’t be like it has been in the past. Idon’t want my Nazarene teaching to stand inthe way. I want to know who you really are.”

The next morning while shaving, I heardthe voice of the lord for the first time in mylife, and He said to me, “I don’t want you togo anywhere. I just want you to come untome.” Although I had never heard His voicebefore, I knew with my whole heart He wastalking to me. I wept for two days.

A few days after that, I was cruisingthrough the channels to see what was on TV,and I saw–it wasn’t what I saw that impressedme, but what I heard–a black man “teaching”from the Bible. It was Fred Price, and I havethanked the lord for him ever since. Dr. Fredwas the one who showed me how to readstudy and learn the Bible with his simple, down to earth style of teaching. Thank youJesus and thank you Dr. Price.

I grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil andstarted taking notes. Then I would studythose notes for two to three hours everyevening until the next week’s message came. Ihad never felt so much hope in my lifetime. Iacted on Romans 5:1-5, and it worked!

Within a few months I was out of work, again–I made my living managing golf cours-es, taking bankrupt courses and making themvery successful operations. Every time I wouldget a struggling golf course up and running

nicely, the owners or managers would tell methey wouldn’t need me any longer, and downthe road I would have to go.

I didn’t know then that I was always in aspiritual battle, so Satan’s little imps weremaking my life miserable. I don’t let him dothat any longer, because The greater onelives within me!

When I lost that job, I decided to not to goback to work, until I had studied to showmyself approved, a workman not ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of god. I studiedthe Word ten to fifteen hours a day, seven daysa week, for almost a year and a half. I wentthrough every dime I had, and it was the bestinvestment I’ve ever made.

Near the front door of the house I wasrenting, there were two cherry trees. The veryday the cupboards became empty, the cherrieson those two trees were ripe enough to eat. Ididn’t let any of my family eat the cherries untilwe had picked two grocery bags full, as ourtithe on them. Then we ate and enjoyed them.

To make a long story short, I ended up in avery nasty divorce. I came out of that totally

“I will go anywhere youwant me to go,and I will doanything youwant me to do.”

penniless, but by then I had been back towork, managing another bankrupt course.

I met a wonderful lady a short time after allof the dust settled, and we eventually married. She is a true Proverbs 31 woman, and thegreatest gift god could ever have given me.She was raised Catholic but had also alwayswanted to really know god on a close and per-sonal basis. She had attended a BaptistSingles potluck eight months prior to ourmeeting, and accepted the lord as her person-al Savior.

I began to teach her god’s marvelouscovenant. She began to learn and trust how towalk by faith and not by sight, and hasbecome a strong Bible believer. It is godwho gives us the power to get wealth(Deut 8:18), and He has blessed usbeyond all we could ask or think (Eph3:20). He has given me internationalrecognition in the golf teaching indus-try, and golfers come from everywherein the world for instruction.

I could make this into a full paper-back story, but I will close by tellingyou god will do everything He haspromised. There is oNE hugecatch, though. god cannot bemocked. He knows if you are afterthe blessings, or if you are onlyinterested in having sweet fellowshipwith Him. He assures us if the latter isthe case, All of the blessings will fol-low you and overtake you. Thank, you Dr.Price, for getting me started properly.

A few years ago, my wife Valerie and Ithought since we would never have to ask thelord for anything in eternity, we would stopasking Him for anything here. We constantly

thank Him for knowing what we need beforewe ask Him and for supplying all our needaccording to His riches in glory, by ChristJesus. You cannot imagine how much He hasblessed us for doing that. It’s a whole newrealm of trusting Him for the things of life.god is good! —EIF

health & healing

ith 50 years of ministry under hisbelt, Apostle Frederick Price haslearned how to walk by faith andnot by sight. But in late 2011, the

then 79-year-old founder of CrenshawChristian Center would have to put his faithto the test once again with a health challenge. The Price family has faced a major healthchallenge before with the lymphatic cancerdiagnosis of Dr. Betty Price in 1990.

This time it was Apostle Price himselfwho would have to come face to face withsickness in his body. After many months ofbeing in pain and putting off the inevitable,Apostle Price finally went in for a routine hip

replacement surgicalprocedure.

"This went offwithout a hitchand is a non-issuenow," explained

his eldest daugh-ter Angela

Evans, whogave anupdate on

H o w e v e r ,before the sur-

gery ApostlePrice had begun

e x p e r i e n c i n gswelling in his

lower extremities.

Finally, after a five-day hospital stay (in addi-tion to the hip replacement) he was diag-nosed as manifesting symptoms of Nephroticsyndrome specifically a malady called mem-branous glomerulonephritis which is a slow-ly progressive disease affecting the kidney.Inside of the kidney is the glomerulus whichhelps to filter the blood. In Apostle Price'scase, the kidney was leaking fluid into theurine that caused fluid to collect in the softtissue resulting in the swelling.

"This condition has to bow to the name ofJesus, so we’re good," Angela testified. "Toshow you how stupid the devil is, in research-ing this, I found that it mostly affects patientsbetween the ages of 30 and 50 years old andusually Caucasian. I say he’s stupid becauseDaddy is 80 years old and African American. It probably took him that long to cook upsomething to hit daddy with. Further, it saidthe cause of the disease is idiopathic whichmeans that its origin is unknown. I knowwhat the cause is: straight from the pit of hell.At any rate, it begs the question, how does aman who has lived above reproach for 60years, been faithful to his wife, never cheatedon her, served his congregation faithfully, hasnot abused his body end up with this? Wealready know it's demonic encroachment."

But thanks to prayer, faith, support fromhis family and a great team of doctors,Apostle Price has come out on the other side. He's regained his vitality and is back at workand back on the road teaching--all at 81 yearsold.

"He is at the top of his game at 81 yearsold and the devil is going to be so sad that hemessed with my dad," said Angela.—EIF

e begin our celebration of 40years in ministry at CrenshawChristian Center and at the same

time 35 years of the Ever Increasing Faithbroadcast—not too many programs run for 35years. We're still on the air and still ministeringto who god would have us to minister to.Thework is still relevant and of course the field isstill ripe.

As we kick off these anniversaries, I want tolook into what rendering honor means. We'refamiliar with the scripture that says that the eld-ers are worthy of double honor. What's thebible talking about when it says that? It's easy toquote the scripture. It's easy to look at yourleader and say that they're worthy of honor. Butaccording to what the scripture says, are ourleaders really worthy of honor or even doublehonor?

Romans 13:7 says, "render therefore to alltheir due." Meaning this is what is owed them.We have to understand that the only reason thatwe're celebrating 40 years of CrenshawChristian Center. The only reason that any ofus are here present today is because of this man,

Apostle Frederick K.C. Price. We are to render honor to whom honor is

due. Now, this word "due" is a strong word. Itmeans, a sum owed; an obligation; a duty. So,the scripture is saying when someone is owedhonor, they should receive it. This word"honor" in the greek is an English rendering ofour word "time.” It means value as in moneypaid. It means esteem, especially of the highestdegree. It could also refer to the dignity itself, such as the honor or the price. For example, that which I value I give honor to. But also, when I value something, I honor it by valuing italone.

When I see a big price, on anything, Ihonor it even if I fear the price. For example, inthe case of god, fearing something means to bein awe of Him or to have reverence for Him.

When you have reverence for god, youhonor Him. When you're in awe of god, youhonor Him. While fear and honor are not syn-onymous terms, the one thing they do have incommon is reverence. When you fear some-thing, you reverence it. When you honor some-thing, you reverence it. Now, there are someother meanings for honor. And there are someother meanings for fear, but the one thing theydo have in common is reverence.

There are so many individuals who have letus know how honored they are to hear theWord of god taught by my father. They arehonored, but at the same time, they have noidea how much of an honor it is for him to teachthem.

The English Standard Version StudyBible has an interesting note regarding honor.Christians must not refuse to pay taxes simplybecause they think some of the money is usedunjustly. For example, the Roman Empire atthe time surely did not use all of its money forgodly purposes. Believers are to honor theirleaders even if they're not fully admirable. I maynot agree with the Roman Empire, but when Isee Caesar, I refer to him as what? Caesar. Bythe title alone, I'm giving him honor. So in thatsense, we're still to honor our leaders and thosein authority, even if we're not completely inagreement with everything they do and standfor. We're honoring the office. god hasordained the office.

Now what about the double honor?Romans says render to whom honor is due. The

Honoring Aliving legend

By Pastor Fred Price

Page 23: Spring 2013 - Ever Increasing Faith Magazine

scripture is talking about a particular group:those who rule well. "let the elders who rulewell be counted worthy of double honor espe-cially those who labor in the word and doc-trine."

To rule well means to do it honestly, beau-tifully and excellently. There should be no roomfor blame. I hate to say this, but all elders don'trule well so they're not counted worthy of dou-ble honor. That's what Apostle Price has donefor 40 years.

Double honor is for those who labor inword and doctrine. When my dad would dothree services in a Sunday, he toiled. Helabored. Every Sunday, dad was coming hometo take a nap and he better not be disturbed. Iknew that at 6:00 p.m. on the dot, he was wak-ing up and then I could go see daddy. But untilthen, it was rest from his toil and labor. It wasrest from the dispensing of the Word thatbrought great fatigue especially those wholabor in it.

I'm thinking of his teaching "Race,Religion, and Racism," for example. That washard work. Three years of study. Three hun-dred books read. Work. Toil. labor. When theanointing lifts, he's weary. Praise god he cango rest and get recharged. But that's the laborthat the verse is talking about—giving your lifeto this. Sometime you're drained. Sometimesyou're too tired to do it. But it's the anointingthat keeps you up.

You've never seen a man work so hard tocommunicate effectively so that he's under-stood. Not only is he one who labors in what'sdone before the people—in the delivery of theWord, but it's also in the living out of the Word.

lastly the scripture says, "labor in the wordand in doctrine." And the doctrine is what? Theinstruction and the information. We can't keepgiving everybody double honor, now becauseall elders aren't ruling well. let alone ruling.

Does our apostle qualify? I'd say he quali-fies to be counted worthy of double honor, because he's done all that has been defined andbeyond. At 80+ years old, he's still doing iteverything that I do.

It takes a lot of spiritual guts to stray awayfrom the norm. It takes guts to do what Jesusasked Peter to do regarding his sheep: feedthem and tend to them. So, he proved that hecould be a fearless teacher and not sway to the

left or right.god needed a man who would put right

above relationship. god needed a man whowould prove in his decision-making that heloved god more than any man. When it didn'tfeel too good to separate from certain individu-als, and then, not only that, but teach on subjectmatter that would be considered controversial, that would shake the very foundation of thechurch. He needed a man who was fearlessenough and willing enough to do it. A manwho, like Paul says in I Corinthians 2, whosefaith was not in the wisdom of men, but in thepower of god whose faith was so in the powerof god that it wasn't about who he knew, buthe could sleep well at night knowing it wasgod who he pleased and not man.

We talk about "Race, Religion, andRacism" as a boat-rocker, But Apostle Pricehad many boat-rockers. Maybe they weren't onthe magnitude of that one, or maybe people did-n't put such emphasis on others, like that partic-ular message, but all throughout his ministryhe's been rattling to the core. He's been sayingwhat many have thought on the inside but wereafraid to say.

god needed an Elijah who didn't careabout thousands and thousands of prophets ofBaal, but knew that the power of the one whobacked him was greater than those prophets.Right now, in the body of Christ, there is anemergence of a gospel that appears to be pow-erful but really, it's powerless because it is aboutmembership gaining, seat fillers, customers, selling books and filling up arenas. Still, god'smaking His name great.

There are preachers who can fill up 20,000-seat arenas, but when they run into my dad,or inclose proximity of him, they have to meet him, touch him, say hello to him. Folk come into thisFaithDome and say, "the one place I've neverbeen, I'm finally here."

Why does he still have that notoriety? Hedidn't seek it. He shuns it. He stays away fromthe limelight. He didn't get in this for that, yetgod has made and is still making His namegreat. He's been proven and has overcomeevery single time. Everything that Apostle Pricetaught us, he's lived it. He's worked it and it hasproduced the results that he has been telling usit will produce.—EIF

straight talk

Unless otherwise indicated, Scripture quo-tations mentioned above are taken fromthe New King James Version of the Bible.

Do you have a question on your mind?

Write to us at: Ever Increasing Faith Magazine, P.O. Box 44185, Los Angeles, CA 90009 or e-mail [email protected].

What exactly is the prayer of consecration and dedication thatyou have referred to in your teachings on prayer?

The prayer of consecration and dedication isthe only prayer where we ever find Jesus usingan "If it be thy will." And that was when Heprayed in the garden of gethsemane, in refer-ence to and just prior to Him going to the crossto become the lamb of god to take away thesin of the world. The crucifixion was going torequire of Him to be spiritually cut-off from theFather god and He had never experiencedbeing cut-off from the Father god. They alwayshad intimate fellowship and there was never abreach between the two. If you've been withsomeone as long as Jesus was with the Father,

that's not an easy thing to contemplate. He wasnot only god manifested in the flesh, but Hewas also a human. He got tired, He got thirsty. So all that was in Him recoiled, as it was, fromthe prospect of having to be cut be off from theFather god. In essence, in the prayer in thegarden of gethsemane, He was saying,"Father, if there is any other way that mankindcan be redeemed without Me having to be cutoff from You, can You find that way.Nevertheless, not My will but Your will bedone. If it be Your will that We do this anotherway, I'll be in agreement with that. But if not,not My will, but Your will be done.

parenting matters

s parents, oneof our manygoals is to

raise children whothink and live inaccord with a bib-lical worldview sothat they can serveChrist and leadthe culture. This isnot an easy task butit’s a goal worth pur-suing. on a daily basisour children are confront-ed with many invitations toembrace other world-views. But we mustequip our kids to followafter god’s way of doing and seeing things.

our son, Jon Jr. recently shared the fol-lowing story with us that I think will illus-trate this point. Due to pressure from afriend, he found himself doing somethinghe never thought he would do. He was sit-ting with thousands of people to watch aNASCAR race. His friend had been talk-ing about this event for weeks so he finallygave in. Jon Jr. said he figured that anyevent that would cause someone to be aspassionate about it as his friend was mustbe interesting.

He was right.Jon Jr. thought that the event itself was

not interesting at all but the look on hisfriend’s face as he watched the race wasamazing. He could see that his friend was

watching an epicbattle between the

greatest athletesin the world asthey fought athigh speeds fora coveted winand eventually aplace in history.

All Jon Jr. sawwere cars going

left…a lot. As theywatched, Jon Jr. won-

dered how two peoplecould look at the exact same

thing and see some-thing completely dif-ferent. It was as if they

were looking through completely differentlenses. His story caused me to begin think-ing about where we get our worldview.

our worldview is the lens throughwhich we see everything in the world. Itserves as glasses we wear everyday thatcolor our feelings about anything andeverything. It is how a Republican and aDemocrat can look at the same informa-tion and come to two completely differentconclusions. It is how someone from Israeland someone from Palestine can see thesame piece of land and see something dif-ferent. As events unfold in the world wesee the power and danger of worldviews. As parents we must understand the impor-tance of our children’s worldview. AsChristians our worldview is framed by a

A

How to helpYour Child Develop aChristian Worldview

Page 29: Spring 2013 - Ever Increasing Faith Magazine

simple question, whatwould Jesus do? Whileour children will growand make their own deci-sions and mistakes, it’sour job as parents tomake sure they alwayshave an answer to thatquestion. In this article,we will look at twothings every parent mustdo in order to ensure thattheir children have astrong, Christian world-view.

Encourage the Question, “Why.”As parents “why” can be one of the

most annoying questions there is. We’ve allexperienced the, “why loop.” It is when achild asks you a question; you answer thequestion only to have the question of “why”thrown back at you. Then the processrepeats over and over until you begin con-sidering adoption. However, “why” is animportant question that we must encour-age. It is not good enough for our childrento know what is right and what is wrong;they also must know why things are rightand wrong. The reality is that you will notbe able to teach your children the correctanswer to every moral question but whenwe teach the process of determining whatis right and wrong we create people thathave the ability to make the right decisioneven if no one has told them the answer.Knowing right and wrong makes you amoral person, but knowing why some-thing is right and wrong makes you some-one with a strong worldview.

Scripture memorizationIn cartoons, whenever a character has

to make a tough decision, a little devil andangel version of themselves pops up ontheir shoulder. It’s always entertaining towatch these characters wrestling withtheir decision. However in real life it is not

that easy. It is much hard-er to tell which voice isthe devil and which voiceis the angel. I can’t tell youthe number of times I’vehad a tough decision tomake and the only thingthat saved me was a Bibleverse from my youth.Psalm 119:11 says “yourword I have hidden in myheart that I might not sinagainst you.”

It is the word of godthat should shape our

worldview. Through the lenses of scrip-ture, is the only true way to see the world. However, we can never have those scrip-tures spring to mind if they are neverplaced in our heart and mind to beginwith. By encouraging scripture memoriza-tion in our children we can ensure thatthey will have the necessary tools to makethose tough decisions.

The Christian worldview is underattack in modern society. Simply assumingyour children will have a Christian world-view because they have grown up in aChristian home is no longer acceptable. There are too many forces working hard inorder to get your child to see things theirway. The war for your child’s heart andmind starts the moment the televisioncomes on and when they walk out of thedoor. The answer, “because my parentssaid so,” will no longer be enough. As par-ents you cannot fight this war for them butit is your duty to give them the properweapons so that they can fight for them-selves. giving them the answers to thequestion of why and putting the Word ofgod in their hearts will be those weapons. With that knowledge and understandingthey will be able to come against any attackof the devil.—EIF
